Symphonic metal storytellers, Delain, have released their new EP, Dance With The Devil, this via Napalm Records and are all fired up kick off their UK tour in Glasgow on November 15. Ahead of the release, the band dropped a new single ‘The Reaping’, cut from their latest offering. The gripping track offers a whirlwind of emotions; articulating foreboding and sorrow through hooky electronic melodies and modern heaviness. Its collective themes express disillusionment with society’s current path toward imminent and inescapable consequences. Finnish progressive metal band Rioghan is set to release the second studio album Kept on February 14 via Inverse Records. The second single ‘Hands’ is out now. Bristol-based heavy-pop quartet Bitter Kisses have released their new single, ‘Social Demons’. ‘Social Demons,’ the band’s eighth single, is characterized as an angst-fueled torrent of thought and rhythm. The track was produced by Alex Copp, known for his work with As December Falls and Led By Lanterns, and mastered by Grant Berry. Recording took place at Steel City Studios, ensuring a polished and powerful sound that aligns with Bitter Kisses’ signature heavy-pop style. Reflecting on the inspiration behind the single, the band stated, “’Social Demons’ puts words to the struggles of coping with our own hyperactive and often unfair inner monologues (inner demons). Butcher Babies have been reborn. A few months out from the departure of co-founding vocalist Carla Harvey, the L.A.-based metalcore outfit have returned with a single called ‘Sincerity,’ which also marks their first piece of music through new label home Judge & Jury Records. ‘Sincerity’ follows the band’s 2023 full-length, Eye for an Eye… /… ‘Til the World’s Blind, and it’s their first release since Harvey’s exit. With the band now reconfigured as a one-vocalist enterprise, Heidi Shepherd’s singing is fully front and center on the modern metal track, and reliably powerful. A press release explains that the song is “rooted in wishful thinking,” but is likewise about being put into a situation where someone manipulates your emotions “to feed their own ego and benefit.” “Over the last decade and a half, Butcher Babies has become known for our aggression and soaring melodies. This new release is no different,” Shepherd said of ‘Sincerity.’ “Diving into real-life experiences and expectations while exposing the rawest part of our souls, this single is bound to invoke an emotional rollercoaster between looking toward the future with hope while reminiscing of past losses.” [via Revolver]

Finnish melodic metal band Unén proudly unveil their first official single and video, ‘My Love’s Broken’. “After countless disappointments in relationships, one becomes numb and cold… There is nothing left to give to another person, and yet the endless search for the perfect person continues. It’s always easier to leave everything behind and start anew”, says singer Stina Girs about the song. The band describes the concept behind the video: “The main character starts sculpting a vision of perfection, only to shatter it, symbolizing the disappointments in love and relationships. Piece by piece, she starts tearing it apart. At this stage, the mood of the performance shots also changes, and crumbling clay begins to fall on the band members”. “Around the visual storytelling, we see super slow motion shots of the band and Stina’s vocal parts, which are filmed both in slow motion and at normal speed. The music video is filmed at the historic Lapinlahti Hospital in Finland, one of the oldest psychiatric hospitals in Europe” they continue.

Talented Brazilian Rock band Malvada unveil their new single and video, ‘Down The Walls’, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. Talking about the single, singer Indira Castilho says “’Down the walls’ is a song that describes a relationship based on lies and psychological control. It tells about a situation that many women go through but that is never discussed. The music aims to show the reality, alert women and bring courage to face this situation”. “The riffs are very heavy, rhythmic and connected to the drums”, adds guitarist Bruna Tsuruda. Drummer Juliana Salgado describes it as “a strong music, with strong guitar riffs and drum beats”, while bassist Rafaela Reoli states “I think it’s the perfect song to introduce Malvada to the world”.

Rap metal sensation Sicksense – featuring vocalists Vicky Psarakis (ex-The Agonist) and Robby J. Fonts (Stuck Mojo) – have released their new single, ‘On Repeat’. Check out the official video below. The band’s Earache Records debut, Cross Me Twice, will be released on February 14, 2025.

Arch Enemy have unveiled their first new music since their acclaimed 2022 album, Deceivers, by surprise releasing the new single and video ‘Dream Stealer.’ The veteran extreme metal band’s guitarist Michael Amott stated, “First new Arch Enemy song we release in a little while and it feels good to be back! It was a blast working on ‘Dream Stealer’ in the studio, this song just has the high energy and twisted atmosphere that makes it so fun to play! Crank it up, loud and heavy! Metal is immortal!” After a haunting instrumental intro, singer Alissa White-Gluz kicks off the vocals with a monster scream, and goes full guttural for the rest of the powerful track. FUTURE PALACE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Decarabia,’ is taken from the German post-hardcore band’s upcoming new album, Distortion, which is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Arising Empire. The band have dedicated the new single to the relationships of people who are suffering from mental illnesses. The picture the band paints of this difficult circumstance is engagingly complex and asks fundamental questions: How much can we help the loved ones around us when we ourselves are already dealing with so many of our own demons? How can we not be alone in our struggles when at the same time we see how it becomes too much for our counterpart? “It’s not just bad if you yourself lose joy in life. It hurts all the more when you find out that a loved person has to deal with it,” vocalist Maria Lessing explains, reporting on experiences that come from her own life. “It’s a struggle to try to support someone when you need all your strength to be able to function. Just over a month out from Jinjer’s next U.S. tour, the Ukrainian prog-metal crushers have dropped a surprise single that may well pop into their upcoming setlists. The song, titled ‘Someone’s Daughter,’ arrives as a percussively punishing, and spirit-empowering battle anthem. The studio track finds the act once again needling into precision drum battery, bassist Eugene Kostyuk’s slippery fretwork, and vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk’s cascade of immaculate melodies and rumbling death-growls. The music video, which you can see below, mixes performance footage with CGI landscapes. With its lyrics themed around cutting a signature path in the world as a woman, Shmayluk also gets into character while seemingly dressing up as iconic figures like chemist Marie Curie or Egyptian ruler Cleopatra. “´Someone’s Daughter´ is an artistic attempt to cast the light on the inner world of women, who in various scenarios and circumstances, have had to choose a path that was historically made by men,” the singer said in a statement. “In a world where women are often underestimated and overlooked, they are still powerful heroes who navigate hardship with strength and resilience, unapologetically becoming themselves and breaking barriers in the face of the challenges that face them. ‘Someone’s Daughter’ celebrates transitions from naivety into wisdom, weakness into force, unwavering determination, and fearlessness as our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives walk through adversity and fight for better change. Criminal activity and psychology has been at the forefront of SKYND’s music from the start, observing the bleakest and most horrific aspects of the human condition through musical and lyrical examinations of true crimes and their impact on the victims and society. Marking the duo’s second single of 2024, ‘Violets are Blue’ looks at the 2012 murder of Jun Lin by Luka Magnotta, with Skynd and Father saying that the case points out the severity of mental health issues and the importance of recognizing and addressing them before they lead to violence, as well as the ethical responsibilities of the media and the criminal justice system. Jun Lin was an international student at Concordia University in Montreal, studying computer engineering; he was stabbed and dismembered by Luka Rocco Magnotta, who mailed parts of Lin’s body to schools and political party offices, as well as posted videos online depicting the murder – this has led to him being referred to as an “Internet Killer.” Magnotta was arrested in Berlin less than a month later, and was sentenced two years later to life and an additional 19 years for other charges such as sexual assault, animal abuse, and public obscenity – during his trial, issues of his mental stability were raised, including diagnoses of schizophrenia and several personality disorders. As Lin was a gay man, SKYND has also pointed out the purpose of ‘Violets are Blue’ to discuss the impact such crimes have on the LGBTQ+ community. “This case brought attention to issues of violence within the community and the unique vulnerabilities faced by LGBTQ+ individuals and it therefore felt very important for me to explore,” Skynd says, pointing out the importance of standing up for diversity in the band’s music. Italian metal masters Lacuna Coil have unveiled a new single titled ‘Hosting the Shadow’ featuring guest vocals from Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe. The song marks another new stand-alone single from Lacuna Coil, who earlier this year unveiled the track ‘In the Mean Time’ featuring New Years Day singer Ash Costello. While Lacuna Coil are already known for their dual vocal attack from Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro, Blythe takes the band’s sound to a new extreme. After an extended instrumental intro, the Lamb of God singer’s voice is heard first on the song, as he delivers his signature growl in the verses, where he is eventually joined by Ferro. Scabbia’s clean singing then arrives in the melodic chorus. “‘Hosting the Shadow’ is a trip through light and dark, where silence reveals its hidden secrets,” stated Lacuna Coil. “Obscure moments can become occasions to evolve, to learn to master one’s own shadow — which is crucial in order to prevail. Randy Blythe did an incredible job on this track, we absolutely adore his voice and his evil laugh!” The band continued, “Our admiration for him is infinite and to have him as a guest on this song is a dream come true. Stand Atlantic have shared a new single, ‘FRENEMIES’. The new track explores the theme of complicated friendships, as lead singer Bonnie Fraser explains: “FRENEMIES is about rocky friendships and not knowing where you stand with someone. Taking aim at those who doubted her return to songwriting and performing post-pregnancy, 51st Avenue’s Alynnis Zizza is empowered, fierce and forthright in their new single ‘Mind Your Own’. Pulling sonic inspirations from artists such as Bring Me The Horizon, alongside the score of hit series Stranger Things, the Sydney trio are continuing to expand on their proclaimed ‘hyper-modern pop rock’ sound with ‘Mind Your Own’. Thick guitars and syncopated drums back Alynnis Zizza’s impassioned, soaring vocals throughout, with the track culminating in a colossal bridge with guitar leads atop a half-time final chorus. Using technology to their advantage, 51st Avenue constructed the initial beat and synths for ‘Mind Your Own’ using a phone app. After scoping out the fledgling pieces of the track here, the rest of the song came together quickly, with the band combining with a sole direction for the track. Recording out of Keywork Audio in Sydney with Mark Williamson (Inertia, After Touch, Broken Earth), the band then sent the track across to legendary producer Kris Crummett (Dance Gavin Dance, Sleeping With Sirens, Real Friends) for the finishing touches and mastering. “We knew straight away what we were going for musically when we wrote this track,” the band say. “We wanted to blend the styles of Bring Me The Horizon with the eerie vibes of the Stranger Things score. The lyrics came quickly as our vocalist, Alynnis, was very early in her pregnancy so it was at the forefront of her mind giving the track the lyrical message it has. It started as a beat and some synths made on a phone app. The rest of the track came together pretty quickly, we wanted a specific vibe for the track so we knew what direction we wanted to head in. We’re really happy how it turned out!”

Conquer Divide have revealed a stunning video for new single ‘N E W H E A V E N’. “N E W H E A V E N was born out of the idea that you’ll never be satisfied with what you have if you don’t define your expectations,” the band offers. “We got together in Atlanta with Johnny Andrews for this one, and he’s a musical mad scientist. We played with religious metaphors, although the song is not about religion. You throw your whole life into something, and then you finally reach the pinnacle and get to pull the proverbial curtain back, but it’s not what you expected at all. So now you need a new high to chase. We did crowd-sourced gang vocals on this one, and it was fun to make that come together.” As for the accompanying video, the band shares, “This video was sort of a continuation from last music video where in the opening scene you see the Grim Reaper take his hood off to reveal he is now the priest overseeing the funeral. Kia figuratively ‘went to heaven’ and came back after realizing heaven wasn’t what it was cracked up to be.”

Brighton’s Industrial / Post Metal band Tribe Of Ghosts have today shared a brand new single titled ‘HIVE’. ‘HIVE’ is an all out barrage of frenetic and furious sound design and a vicious addition to Tribe Of Ghosts genre-melting discography that depicts a first person view of a world spoilt by dehumanisation and barbarous oppression. “When we were writing Hive, we felt that we were at a point where we understood our sound and what we wanted to create. With this in mind, we wanted to craft a song that sets the scene of the world that we build with our music, that explores the electronic and the organic, and declares our intent of giving into the chaos that oozes out of us on stage and in the writing process,” says guitarist Adam Sedgwick.

Portland metalcore band Dying Wish have announced their sophomore album, Symptoms of Survival, due November 4 via SharpTone Records. “Symptoms of Survival is an eleven-part piece covering the complexity of human suffering in all forms,” says vocalist Emma Boster. “From the honest and personal perspective of heartbreak, painful trauma, loss, rage, and regret — to the more objective perspective of war, greed, and ultimate survival.” The album features recent single ‘Torn From Your Silhouette,’ as well as the just-released ‘Watch My Promise Die.’ The new song has a great mix of melody and aggression and Emma says it’s “about the overwhelming anxiety of pre-destined failure. When you commit everything you have to one area of your life, the idea of it falling apart looms with such heavy importance. Nashville heavy duo Friendship Commanders present a new video for ‘Vampire’ from their upcoming album Mass, out September 29. Guitarist/vocalist Buick Audra says about the track: “There was a season at the end of my time in Boston where I was being turned into The Problem by someone who wanted to control me and couldn’t; it was a moment where I could have played small and gone along with what she wanted, as I had once done. But I didn’t. I played big. I kept what was mine instead of giving it away—which included parts of my identity. And while the result was a scorched earth reality that impacts my sense of self to this day, it also ended the whole thing. I learned a valuable lesson in that season: don’t fuel the narcissists. Keep your power for yourself. It’s what they hate.
