Lake Malice unleash their “dark pop-metal takedown of vanity and nepotism in the music scene”. Already a live favourite, ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’ embraces vocalist Alice Guala’s sassy Italian flair, calling out the superficial, nepotistic and self-obsessed. In a system where meritocracy feels absent, Lake Malice channel their frustrations through industrial rhythms and choruses exploding with energy. ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’ is a metal-core weapon, serving as a cathartic scream against industry fakery. The track exemplifies Guala’s vocal prowess, as she seamlessly shifts between pure, soaring melody and guttural aggression. ‘Nobody Wants To Be You’ was produced by Lake Malice guitarist extraordinaire Blake Cornwall, alongside Jon Cass, mixed by Carl Bown and mastered by Ste Kerry. The accompanying music video, directed by Zak Pinchin, is a dark and highly stylised affair, complete with the backup dancers who we’ve seen grace the stage with Malice this summer.

Canadian metal outfit Juliet Ruin has dropped their electrifying second single and music video ‘Reactance Theory,’ off their upcoming EP Regime, set to release November 7. Known for their genre-fluid blend of chunky riffs, soaring melodies, and emotionally raw lyricism, Juliet Ruin is back with what may be their most collaborative and high-energy track to date.

‘Reactance Theory’ explores the psychological concept coined by Jack Brehm, which explains why people resist threats to their personal freedom. The song dives into the dopamine-fueled impulses that drive rebellion, wrapped in a belted, catchy vocal performance that came together in a moment of serendipity. Vocalist Jess Fleming mistook the verses for the chorus during the writing process, resulting in a track that’s relentlessly energetic from start to finish.

“This song came together with a lot of input from each member. Wes brought in the initial hook guitar lead, and we built it piece by piece. It’s probably one of the most collaboratively written songs we’ve ever done,” says the band.

The accompanying music video amplifies the song’s themes with visceral visuals and dynamic performance shots, capturing the band’s signature live energy and studio-tight execution.

EVA UNDER FIRE return with the riveting and demon-conquering ‘Awakening.’ Out now, it’s the first taste of new music in two years from the Detroit, MI quintet, signaling perhaps that this could be the start of a new album campaign.

‘Awakening’ is a blistering and inspirational anthem from Amanda Lyberg (vocals), Rob Lyberg (lead guitar), Chris Slapnik (rhythm guitar), Ed Gawlik (bass), and Dave Miller II (drums). “The guys and I are stoked about the upcoming album,” proclaims Amanda, whose gutsy vocals spectacularly cut through the raging guitars. “These songs are everything we wanted to write. We made sure it was the most honest version of our story. ‘Awakening’ is an anthem about conquering personal demons. The rest of the album is what it took to get there. It’s also a story packaged in the heaviest riffs we’ve ever played so I think listeners will be pleasantly surprised. Cheers to the new era!”

IVY CROWN have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘This Delusion,’ is the brand new single from the Danish metalcore band and marks their first new music since 2019’s Echo.

The new single was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen [VOLBEAT, AMARANTHE, EPICA] at Hansen Studios. It features a collaboration with Helle Bohdanova, vocalist of the Ukrainian metal band IGNEA, and marks a new era for the band with Maja Shining [FOREVER STILL, MYRKUR] joining as the band’s new vocalist.

Speaking about the new single, vocalist Maja Shining from the band shares, “Helle has been a good friend over the years, so when we had the conversation about features for the album, I immediately knew that she was the right choice. I could already hear her powerful growls when I wrote the vocal parts for ‘This Delusion’.”

Finnish heavy metal sensation BATTLE BEAST proudly release their seventh studio album, Steelbound — an electrifying and highly anticipated record that marks a bold new chapter for the band.

To mark the release, BATTLE BEAST have also unveiled a brand-new music video for ‘Twilight Cabaret’, offering fans another glimpse into the vibrant world of Steelbound.

Daedric are getting closer to the Light. The Texas metalcore adventurists are about to release their sophomore LP, As the Light Left, and the band teamed with Revolver to premiere the collection’s fearless first track, ‘The Other Terror,’ along with its striking music video.

The new song follows recent singles ‘Sand Tiger’ and ‘Undone,’ and while some of the album previews thus far have taken on turntable-twisting flavors of early nu-metal, ‘The Other Terror’ contorts itself through a concussively modern arrangement.

Above the world-imploding drum kicks and darkly detuned riffage, vocalist Kristyn Hope weaponizes melodic rasps and monstrous bleghs as dangerous as the “blades” in her mouth — and certainly the big straight sword she’s brandishing in the video (“I think I’ve killed now”).

THE PRETTY WILD have released a brand-new single. The new track, titled ‘AFTERLIFE,’ features MAGNOLIA PARK and is taken from the band’s upcoming debut album zero.point.genesis, which is scheduled to be released on November 21 via Sumerian Records.

Speaking about the new single, the band says, “’AFTERLIFE’ circles the idea of star-crossed souls bound by something ancient and unbreakable. Conceptually it’s plucked from the kind of love you find in mythology and old tragedies, where you have this obsessive devotion and destruction. It isn’t perfect, but it’s dark, beautiful, and eternal.”

Adding to this, Jyl shares, “’AFTERLIFE’ explores the idea that love dynamics are rooted in codependent magnetism and resonance patterns. It asks, what happens when obsession doesn’t end with death, but carries your soul into magnetising eternal dynamics? The result is kinda tragic and romantically glitchy. It’s basically a pop-metal requiem.”

AD INFINITUM have released a brand new music video. The Swiss/German modern metal unit have unveiled ‘Regicide,’ a new single released just ahead of their very first European headline tour.

Speaking about the new single, the band says, “as we prepare to kick off our first European headline tour, we’re thrilled to surprise our fans with a brand new song. One they’ll already be able to experience live in just a few days. ‘Regicide’ blends the dark soundscapes of Abyss with a bolder, more rebellious energy.”

ENTHEOS have released a brand new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Empty On The Inside,’ is a standalone single from the American progressive death metal band and is their first new music since their latest EP, An End To Everything, which was released in October last year, via Metal Blade Records. The new music video was directed by Malcolm Pugh.

Speaking about the new song, vocalist Chaney Crabb says, “’Empty On The Inside’ is a raw, cathartic song about pouring your entire soul into something that you thought would bring fulfillment to your life, but it only makes you feel empty in return. It is ENTHEOS in our purest form, expanding on our grunge and alternative metal sound. This track truly marks the beginning of a new era for our band.”

UK metal band, Cage Fight – Rachel Aspe (vocals), James Monteith (guitar), Nick Plews (drums) and Will Horsman (bass) – have released new single, ‘PIG.’

On ‘Pig’, Rachel calls out the creepy men who send women unsolicited messages online. The video includes real messages sent directly to Rachel and to other women that volunteered the inclusion of their experiences.

Vocalist Rachel Aspe commented: “’PIG’ is the expression of my disgust of men sending unsolicited intimate pictures, messages, crossing boundaries and harassing women digitally. I’ve had hundreds over the years, and it’s crazy to think that everyday women regularly get these messages. I just wanted to scream my hatred to them, raise awareness of the issue and show solidarity to other women who experience this abuse.”

Casandra’s Crossing, the new musical alliance of guitar legend George Lynch and powerhouse singer Casandra Carson shares ‘Closer to Heaven,’ the third single from their forthcoming album, Garden of Earthly Delights, out October 25 via Frontiers Music Srl. Casandra comments on ‘Closer to Heaven’: “To me, ‘Closer to Heaven’ is a prayer. I likened my experience in the music industry to the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. I put my faith in these magic beans (my songs), hoping they will grow to be fruitful and provide shelter and nourishment for me and my family. Of course, that comes with people thinking you’re crazy, too! Ultimately, I feel that I’m on the right path, so this song was like a cry out to God for some kind of miracle to happen in my career to take me to the next level.”

The first single and title track from Flummox‘s new album, ‘Southern Progress,’ is out npw via Needlejuice Records. Their sound often described as genrefluid, Flummox runs metal’s sonic gamut, blending prog, doom, thrash, symphonic thrash, mathcore and blackened death metal with a healthy dose of Mr. Bungle-style eccentricity. New single ‘Southern Progress’—the title track from the queer / transfemme Nashville band’s forthcoming album (out spring 2025 on Needlejuice Records)—follows suit as a jaw-dropping mission statement, taking everything Flummox does well, smashing it together in a particle collider and cranking the volume. “I usually work on my songs for months, even years before completion,” says bassist / lead singer Alyson Blake Dellinger. “But with ‘Southern Progress’ I wrote the majority of the arrangement in half an hour. Sonically, it encompasses the entire new album in the way we shift genres, and how intense and in-your-face the music is, while also being subtle where it needs to be.” “It’s very bombastic,” says guitarist Max Mobarry. “This song was our clear choice for a lead single. It just lays waste to everything; it’s a portent of the madness to come as the record unfolds—four solid minutes that represent how far we’ve come as a band.” Lyrically, ‘Southern Progress’ is a scathing, autobiographical song about personal development and musical & spiritual growth. “The song plays into this rock-star trope,” Dellinger says, “while also pointing the finger back at myself and asking, ‘Don’t you think it’s a little cringe, the way you represent yourself?’ A lot of what we do is very queer and, unfortunately, autobiographical. Southern progress is a flip on the fact that I’m from the South, that this is a Southern band, and we’re progressing not just musically, but also spiritually and within our own character development.”

AD INFINITUM have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Follow Me Down’, is taken from the Swiss/German symphonic metal band’s upcoming new album, Abyss, which is scheduled to be released tomorrow, via Napalm Records. Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “Abyss is just around the corner, and we’ve got one more treat before the big day, which we are excited to share: ‘Follow Me Down’ – an energetic song that will have its debut on stage tomorrow!” [via Distorted Sound]

ELEINE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Never Forget’, is taken from the Swedish symphonic metal band’s latest studio album, We Shall Remain, which was released in July last year, via Atomic Fire Records. Speaking about the new music video, frontwoman Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist/vocalist Rikard Ekberg says, “after the latest album We Shall Remain was released and we have been touring, it became clear to us that we wanted a proper music video for the song ‘Never Forget’ that is a powerhouse itself. We are celebrating 10 years as a band this year, and we have just started our first own headliner tour that is going better than our expectations – so why not celebrate this with an epic music video in the spirit of ELEINE? We hope our fans enjoy it and feel the empowerment we want to bring with this song!” [via Distorted Sound]

M-Theory Audio has announced the signing of gothic extreme metal band Aversed, an artist the label has monitored in recent years as a potential candidate to join their roster. “Upon hearing an early preview of their latest album, we knew the time was now as the Massachusetts based band has captured their best sounding, most mature, technical, catchiest and uniquely their own material to date,” says M-Theory. “We are excited to officially announce our partnership with the M-Theory Records team! With ‘Cross To Bear’, we begin our journey leading up to the release of our new album, Erasure Of Color on March 21, 2025,” states drummer Jeff Saltzman. “Thanks to everyone who has supported up to this point and for joining us in these next steps!” Aversed and M-Theory Audio now present you with new music in the form of first single ‘Cross To Bear’, and its accompanying music video. Aversed weave wondrous awe with righteous anger across ‘Cross To Bear’, see for yourself. “Navigating the hurt, loss and betrayal of life’s trials and tribulations is our ‘Cross To Bear’. There are so many people we’ve hurt (or vice versa), whether intentional or not,” explains guitarist and songwriter Sungwoo Jeong. “We must always reflect on the consequences of our own actions as they affect those around us, and ourselves. You can die tomorrow and it can be too late to right your wrongs.” [via Brave New Words]

After recently joining the Golden Robot Records roster, Militia Vox has officially released her latest single ‘Apocalypse,’ available to stream now everywhere. ‘Apocalypse’ is more than just a song – it’s an anthem of rebellion, warrior grit and fighting spirit for these turbulent times. With its gutsy vocals, hard groove guitars, synthy saxophones, and explosive energy, the track delivers a sonic experience that only Militia Vox can provide.

Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit Arimea have unveiled their brand-new single ‘Liminal’. Using their staple nu-metal approach of modulated guitars and DJ samples, the refreshingly raw quartet sonically take a dark and melancholic turn with ‘Liminal’. Exploring the lyrical context, bassist Joe Landles mentions, “I began writting lyrics written one late night while researching the occultist Alestair Crowley, eroto-comatose lucidity and the philosophies surrounding them”. Diving deeper on the inspiration behind some particularly visceral lyrical content, Joe reflects that “I wanted to bring those captivating elements of Crowley’s beliefs very much to the forefront. Let’s be honest, there’s always a perverse intrigue into the less family friendly practices of the occult, those that address sexuality and attempts to talk a higher power as we do in LIMINAL.”

Get ready to experience a dose of unapologetic strength and biting satire as female-fronted cinemetal sensations Ammify unveil their latest music video, ‘Involuntarily Celibate,’ a track from their critically acclaimed album, Lost, Not Hiding, released via Wormholedeath. ‘Involuntarily Celibate’ takes a sharp, satirical look at how kindness can sometimes be misunderstood or even manipulated and the misunderstanding can lead to unrealistic expectations. It also underscores the importance of respecting boundaries and not assuming that kindness is a transactional gesture. The music video enriches the song’s themes by using the metaphor of superheroines to emphasize empowerment, boundary-setting, and resistance against entitlement. It turns the song’s satirical critique into a visual celebration of strength and self-respect.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have announced a new album. Titled Galvanize, the upcoming album from the German modern metal band is the follow-up to 2022’s self-titled album, and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement of the new album, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; the title track ‘Galvanize’. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from ‘My Hate Will Go On’, which was released back in April. Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “life has its own inexplicable rules, and it feels like the world is on the verge of destruction. Each individual existence is vested with chains and challenges. Life sometimes seems like a video game – but it’s not, this is real! With the song ‘Galvanize,’ we want to encourage everyone to have the audacity to break free from what holds you back. Fight for the right thing, make a change and become the best version of yourself. Don’t let your life pass by. Be brave and take action – now is the time to ‘Galvanize’.” [via Distorted Sound]

CHARLOTTE WESSELS has released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘The Crying Room,’ is taken from the former DELAIN vocalist’s upcoming new album, The Obsession, which is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Napalm Records. Speaking about the new single, Wessels says, “when we were gearing up for the very first performance under my own name after Covid, my tour manager asked if I wanted my own dressing room. Knowing full well that I’d be an anxious mess, I told her I didn’t need a private room – just somewhere I could have a well-earned meltdown without ruining everyone’s vibe. And that, my friends, is how ‘The Crying Room’ was born. It’s a song about the fear of failure, about needing to catch your breath before diving headfirst into something new. Everyone loves to tell stories about courage and heroism, but let’s be real: I want to hear more stories about people who are absolutely terrified… and do the thing anyway – it’s a central theme on the album, and ‘The Crying Room’ is an invitation to do just that.” [via Distorted Sound]

Swiss/German modern metal frontrunners, Ad Infinitum, make a stand by releasing their next staggering offering and new single ‘Surrender’. The track is taken from their upcoming album, Abyss, due for release on October 11 via Napalm Records. On Abyss, the international four-piece are redefining their sound, making it their most dynamic, modern and progressive record to date. ‘Surrender’ beams with shimmering soundscapes, eruptive breakdowns and a celestial vocal attack by singer Melissa Bonny, ranging from stellar clear singing to harsh and aggressive growls. Ad Infinitum on ‘Surrender’: “‘Surrender’ is the song we’ve been waiting to release since the moment we created it. It’s just us doing our thing without any boundaries, boxes, or outsider expectations – unapologetically. The song is paired with a music video that crosses over into another form of art, perfectly fitting the mood. We are excited to hear how people will receive it!” [via Metal Planet]

Approaching the 10 year anniversary of Fury’s debut album The Lightning Dream, the band have demonstrated their evolution with a new recording of a live favourite ‘Prince of Darkness’. Since 2017, the lineup of Fury has been slowly morphing into something new – now with bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate), drummer Tom Fenn and lead guitarist Tom Atkinson (Vice) replacing previous members. But the most impactful shift to the band’s new sound is the addition of vocalist Nyah Ifill. Fury are currently working on their fifth studio album, with the release anticipated for Spring 2025. Nyah Ifill comments on her move from guest session musician to a permanent position: “As a newer band member, I’ve felt so welcomed by the fans and I’m excited to share some lead vocals! While I haven’t been a part of Fury during the Lightning dream era, I’ve admired the driving force of the songs and massively enjoy playing them live. It isn’t often that bands re-visit older material, and I hope that it’s a treat for the long-time fans! Re-recording ‘Prince of Darkness’ in the lead vocalist position has been a great experience, and I’m having a blast! It’s a send-off to our old friend the devil, and the hell-themed era of Born to Sin. The new album’s recorded, and it’s going to blow you away!”

April Art presents the fourth single ‘Not Afraid’ from upcoming album Rodeo. The official video clip for the song was shot in the band’s own rehearsal room and was once more produced by drummer Ben Juelg. The band comments: “’Not Afraid’ is intended to encourage people to face their fears. We all have fears and often let them hold us back and prevent us from coming into our own. But it is worth looking fear in the eye, going through it and then emerging stronger and more self-confident than ever before. We only have this one precious life and it is worth fighting for it.” [via Metal Heads Forever]

Gigantum, the innovative hard rock band from Los Angeles, USA continues to experiment with the genre norms as they release their second single ‘Necron99’ from their upcoming self-titled debut album slated to hit online retailers on September 6. Following the successful launch of the single ‘Monkey King’ last month, this new track delves deeper into the band’s eclectic influences and creative synergy, offering fans another taste of what’s to come. Vocalist/bassist Mia X comments on the single: “A lot of the songs are about conversations that we have at practice. Necron99 came about when Mark told us about this movie he was really into and wanted us to check out called, WIZARDS. After watching it, I went down a rabbit hole to learn more and when he started playing the riff that is now Necron99, I started thinking about the importance of what the movie was portraying.” ‘Necron99’ has a very heavy, doomy industrial feel that takes the listener into darkness. Gigantum works collaboratively, coming up with riffs that bounce off each other, and in each track, the different ideas and musical influences of the musicians can shine through. The result is an EP that is as complex as it is compelling, offering listeners a glimpse into the band’s creative process.

Ignescent have released the deluxe edition of their debut album, Fight In Me, available digitally via Frontiers Music Srl. Their new single and accompanying video ‘Under Attack’, are also out now. Jennifer Benson comments on the release and on the new video: “We are stoked to present you our digital DLX edition of our album Fight In Me. The new music video to ‘Under Attack’ was directed by J.T. Ibanez. The song is about the attacks, lies, and betrayals I’ve endured. But, in the end, we will come out fighting and stronger for it.”

Boundaries will be crossed, genres will be pushed, crushed, and turned inside out in this latest single, a potent blend of synth, drums, guitar, and bass that hits both the stable and chaotic energies inside of us. There is no escaping this latest single ‘Sandman’ from cyber pop / metal Queen Izzy Reign. Taking inspiration from the movie Get Out the third single, from her next album ‘Sandman’ is equal parts brutal and equal parts ethereal with an official music video that is so whimsically macabre you’d have to see to believe. Energetic and fierce, the song showcases Izzy Reign’s ability to jump from a calm and serene vocal performance to screaming vocals that only add fuel to the fire that is ‘Sandman.’ The electrifying soundscape manages to capture the essence of metalcore, pop rock, and alternative while smashing through each genre and bending them to her will.

Swiss/German modern metal frontrunners, Ad Infinitum, redefine their sound as they look to the future with their upcoming album, Abyss, out October 11 via Napalm Records. Since breaking into the scene in 2020, Ad Infinitum have experienced a remarkable rise, evolving their musical style with each release. While their earlier offerings showcased a symphonic metal approach, Abyss reveals a whole new side of Ad Infinitum, marking their most dynamic, modern and progressive record to date. Now, the band offers a first taste of what’s to come by unleashing the mesmerising and catchy opening track, ‘My Halo’, featuring powerful breakdowns and setting the tone for the album. This first single arrives with a captivating official music video. The band comment on the new single: “Our brand-new single, ‘My Halo’, is out, and with it, the announcement of not only our upcoming album, Abyss, but also our next album trilogy. This is our most elaborate, intimate and unapologetic work yet with the Ad Infinitum signature sound, playing with new sounds and swimming in darker waters.” [via Metal Planet]

April Art’s third album Rodeo will be released on October 4 via ReaperEntertainment, unapologetically changes into the fast lane, speeding away from everyone else with huge hits, a brutal bite and peerless power. Trigger warning: a German band hasn’t sounded this explosive, this hungry, this insatiable for a very long time. Now, the band presents the album’s title track as a digital single together with the official music video. The video was filmed in Offenbach/Germany in summer 2024 and produced by drummer Ben. The band comments: “The song compares life to a wild rodeo ride on an untamed horse. Because that’s exactly what life is like. The biggest challenge is to stay in the saddle. And when we fall off, it’s time to get back on the horse: Get back on the horse! Because giving up is not an option!” [via Metal Heads Forever]

Finnish rock sensations Ginger Evil are proudly unveiling their first official single and video, ‘Rainmaker’ via Frontiers Music. It brings a beam of hope to the darkness and reminds of how important it is to stand by one another, during hard times.” – says singer Ella Tepponen. “But it’s not either too heavy or serious, and is a fun rock jam to sing along, especially the bridge/chorus-parts!.” – she continues.

Brazilian Rock band MALVADA is releasing its new single and video, ‘Veneno’ via Frontiers Music. The first song written with the band’s new line-up and the first to be released on Frontiers, ‘Veneno’ is a piece about duality and women’s psychology, as stated by singer Indira Castillo: “These lyrics describe a lot about what it is to be a woman, about our dualities, about what it is to be poison and at the same time our own antidote. I hope that people communicate and identify with this duality that exists in human being.” “’Veneno’, for me, is the light and shadow that exists in human beings, which is very present in female psychology. It is precisely about the importance of duality” – adds bassist Rafaela Reoli. Musically, “’Veneno’ it’s the juice of national pop rock” – according to drummer Juliana Salgado. “We took a little bit of everything we like to hear in Brazilian rock music, put it together and it turned out in something really… Malvada.” Guitarist Bruna Tsuruda also recalls how Veneno “was the first song we made together with the new formation, and that’s why it’s so special: it was the first sign of the new era. We flowed very easily and Veneno was the proof that the new formation would flow easily.

Canadian blackened death symphonic metal band Valfreya is proud to announce the release of their sixth album Dawn of Reckoning on May 24. To whet the palettes of those who enjoy epic and dark metal, now they are releasing a lyric video for the single ‘The Rise’. The concept album sees the band take their darkest turn as they lean into the blackened end of the metal spectrum and follow the goddess Hel as she wreaks havoc upon humanity. The band comments on the album: “Dawn of Reckoning is a concept album. The main theme revolves around the anger of the goddess Hel which plays the metaphorical role of a fatal justice towards a guilty humanity. The songs convey this anger, but also a range of intense emotions related to the execution of humankind. Musically, you will hear dark symphonies, epic choirs, versatile vocals alongside tumultuous guitars and violin riffs.”

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘My Hate Will Go On’, is the brand new single from the German modern metal band and marks their first new music since their self-titled debut album, which was released back in November 2022. Speaking about the new single, the band says, “yes, we are back with a new song that is like a good punch in your face. Provocative and strong as ever, with a deep message processing injustice.
Canadian modern power metal icons UNLEASH THE ARCHERS recently announced the upcoming release of their massive sixth studio album, Phantoma, out May 10 via Napalm Records. Following the album’s first two singles ‘Green & Glass’ and ‘Ghosts In The Mist’, the Vancouver based five-piece has revealed their soaring third single, ‘Seeking Vengeance,’ along with a new music video. Beginning with a fast paced guitar lead and modernized power metal attacks, the song entrances with a powerful chorus and intricate dual solo. On the new concept album, listeners join protagonist Phantoma, a Phase 4 / Network Tier 0 unit – model A, on an inspiring yet harrowing journey as she discovers the brutal truths behind the manufactured sheen of social media posturing on a dystopian, near-future planet earth. With the band’s one-of-a-kind blend of power metal, traditional heavy metal, modern prog and pop sensibilities, Phantoma spins a web of sharp musicality, high sci-fi concept and important social commentary. Brittney Slayes of UNLEASH THE ARCHERS says about ‘Seeking Vengeance’: “This is the moment in the story when Phantoma comes to terms with what she must do and who she must become in order to do it. We worked really hard to make sure the music reflects the energy of the moment, and I think the video does a great job of portraying the inner struggle as well. This was filmed and edited by the boys at RuneGate Studio and they focused on using lighting and different lenses to create a dynamic visual experience. The song is the darkest moment of the album but it is juxtaposed with an uplifting chorus melody that was actually inspired by classic Disney ’hero anthems’. This one was a unanimous single choice for us and we can’t wait to play it live for you all at our upcoming shows! Hope you enjoy.” [via Outburn]

Talia Hoit is an American singer-songwriter from Colorado. She was classically trained at a young age and now she writes songs and various symphonic metal compositions. She has contributed to bands for the last two decades and also has a collection of solo works. Alongside a talented group of producers and musicians, she is bringing more of her most personal and intimate solo songs to life. Her latest piece is ‘Abandon’, in which the listener can immerse themselves in the haunting emotion. She shares her excitement for the video release: “When I wrote this song last year, it was not particularly intended to be something I would release, it was just a moment of vulnerability I had at my piano one day where this song unfolded into existence as I was going through something and had a moment of being emotionally overwhelmed and just started playing the keys and saying the words. It became a beautiful poem about letting go of something that had been really important to me but was dying in my life. I’m really grateful to all the amazing people who have helped me bring this music to life to be able to express my art both musically and visually, and to be able to share it with the world.”

Spanish power melodic metal Dreamyth will be releasing their debut album Aletheia on April 14 via Rockshots Records. In support of the full-length, the band is sharing their latest music video for the track ‘Odyssey’ featuring guest growl vocals from Eduardo Guilló (Crusade of Bards, Sun of the Dying). The band explains the track in further detail: “‘Odyssey’ has one of our favourites choruses, epic and melodic where the vocalists show their power. It is the first song on the album, a drum roll moved by the wind breaks the silence to lead the way to one of the heaviest tracks on the record, powerful riffs and synthesizers command, and without knowing very well how, the adventure begins. Andrea and Edu introduce themselves in a combination of beautiful melodies and raw growls answering each other. The Etesian winds, those that mysteriously brought them here, predict a change. Before you know it, you’ll be right into the chorus, one of the catchiest on the album, a main melody sung by Andrea accompanied by numerous backing vocals from Dani, who bursts onto the scene without going unnoticed, plus even more guttural responses from Edu, three distinct vocal lines that merge at the end of the chorus to give it a force out of the ordinary. Bravery! Odyssey! Are the Battle Cries. Melodic, a lot of dynamism between the different vocal registers that our singers display here. With more vocal ornaments than instrumental compared to others, Odyssey is called to be one of the favorites of the album as it is for us.”

Rising modern symphonic metal stars, Ad Infinitum, entices its audience with their latest single, ‘From The Ashes’. The track marks the next offering, cut from their upcoming third album, Chapter III – Downfall, set to be released on March 31. The new hit, ‘From The Ashes’, crashes in with a grandiose guitar solo that sets the tone for an epic experience. Melissa Bonny’s captivating vocals in the verses and powerful choruses will undoubtedly charm and energize the audience. The distorted guitars provide an electrifying atmosphere, especially during the intense djent-filled breakdown leading to the mighty finale. Experience the stunning resonance of this song’s modern sound, guaranteed to turn heads and win over legions of new fans. The haunting and heavy ambience of ‘From The Ashes’ is artfully complemented by a powerful and bombastic music video that magnifies the impact of this incredible track. Ad Infinitum on ‘From The Ashes’: “As the release of our third album Chapter III – Downfall approaches, we are proud to reveal a more progressive creation, together with a video that symbolizes the rebirth of the phoenix, rising again from the ashes. This video definitely warms up the room by a few degrees. Don’t try this at home, kids!” [via Brave Words]

German doom-trap trailblazer Mimi Barks has shared another video from her DEADGIRL mixtape, for the seething ’10.steps.back.’ In keeping with the song’s lyrics – ‘Watch them from a distance and keep the distance / Fighting snakes with snakes’ – the clip finds her surrounded by snakes. The track forms part of DEADGIRL‘s arc of sinking to the bottom, and from there being cleansed and reborn as the person you want to be. “The whole album is a full cycle around the idea of the DEADGIRL,” Mimi explained to Kerrang! on the album’s release. “The first songs are heavier, more aggressive, and kind of filled with delusional aloofness and narcissism, to self-hatred, or hate for the world, but also chaos in my brain. Throughout the album, I’m going through the process of self-growth through spirituality. That whole era of suffering and self-destruction is kind of concluded by reconnecting to my higher self and being content with what I do, and learning to self-love. [The song] SUICIDE is the suicide of my younger self. That leads to the awakening. That is what the whole album is about, to go through the darkness and come out of the other end of it, towards light. It’s literally a journey from self-hating to self-healing.” [via Kerrang!]

Following the previously-released, first album single ‘Crossing Over’, the quintet has shared a music video for the song ‘Raid The Universe’. Says the band: “This song is influenced by one of Christianna’s top favorite movie of all time: Dracula, and we consider this to be one of the rather “alternative” ELYSION songs. The second we heard the first riff, we totally fell in love with it, and Christianna immediately had this idea of travelling through space. What greater proof of love and faith for one than to travel through worlds to join your beloved again! Our first animated video clip represents this concept best, as it features a spaceship travelling through different dimensions.” [via Rock n Load]

Rising modern symphonic metal stars, Ad Infinitum, are breaking in with their mesmerizing new single, ‘Seth’, exceeding all expectations and heating up the excitement for their electrifying new studio album, Chapter III – Downfall, out March 31 via Napalm Records, once more. The new hit ‘Seth’ creates a heavy presence with distorted guitars crushing a groovy riff, charging into a captivating chorus with Melissa Bonny at lead singing a beautifully triumphant melody. This song’s resounding modern sound and eerie ambience will have new fans turning heads, all emphasized by an accompanying bombastic video. Says the band: “Today we unveil one more piece of our upcoming album Chapter III – Downfall. A song about Seth, the god of chaos and destruction, about jealousy, ambition, betrayal, treason and illusions. And eventually about justice and resolution. All this served with heavy riffs and a beautiful video by Vincent De Fallois. Enjoy!” [via Brave Words]

BABYMETAL have shared the new single ‘Metal Kingdom’ from their forthcoming concept album THE OTHER ONE, out March 24. Each of the albums 10 tracks represent a theme based on “10 separate parallel worlds” discovered in “THE OTHER ONE restoration project,” during which BABYMETAL were “recovered within the virtual ‘METALVERSE.’” As the third single we’ve heard from the album, ‘Metal Kingdom’ sheds further light on this complex narrative. “One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is THRONE and this 3rd single centers around this theme,” the band’s press release elaborates. “It is a powerful anthem ushering in the beginning of a new era while also representing the power and courage to step forward into uncharted territory. The track conveys imagery of one rising powerfully from the throne of silence, with a suitable fanfare announcing this new beginning.” It reads like the plot to a sci-fi movie or video game, and “Metal Kingdom’ has a particularly cinematic quality to it, in that the song sounds like a film score with its soaring arrangement, rich sonic production, and cathartic vocals from the BABYMETAL duo.
Daedric is starting off 2023 with a bang, reuniting with acclaimed producer Joey Sturgis to drop a brutal alt-metal single ‘Alchemy.’ Savage from the get-go ‘Alchemy’ wastes no time jumping in with industrial guitars laced over a ferocious but captivating vocal performance from frontwoman Kristyn Hope. Mixing screams with atmospheric vocals The single performs a delicate dance between ethereal and ominous, delicate and harsh. Drawing from a wide variety of genres including metalcore, electronic and industrial ‘Alchemy’ establishes Daedric’s incredible versatility. “The team was excited to experiment with more screams and gritty vocals on ‘Alchemy,’” explains Daedric. “We really tested some vocal limits and that gave us some great moments during production.” [via Outburn]

Entheos, the duo of vocalist Chaney Crabb and multi-instrumentalist Navene Koperweis, has finally announces their new record Time Will Take Us All for March 3. The album features ex-Entheos bassist Evan Brewer, who hasn’t rejoined the band but did contribute a boatload of killer low end. The band is now streaming the sludgy new single ‘I Am The Void’ alongside a music video done up by the seemingly ever-present My Good Eye Visuals. [via Metal Injection]

San Francisco doom vets, Acid King, are returning later this year with their first full-length since 2015. Titled Beyond Vision, the band helmed by low-and-slow maestro, Lori S., are billing the new LP as their most psychedelic yet, and judging by the sound of its expansive lead single, ‘Destination Psych/Beyond Vision’ fans are in for a helluva trip with this collection. The near-eight-minute single taps into the hazy, muffled churn that they helped pioneer throughout the Nineties, but there’s an added dose of trippiness in the way the specter-like vocals float in the mix, and the dual guitar/bass solo that closes out the tune is more bluesy than bashing. “The band was never really that psychedelic, but this is definitely more trippy because we’ve got keyboards and synthesizers,” Lori said of the new record’s sound. “That’s something we’ve never had before on Acid King records. The songs really have no beginning or ending—they all just flow into each other. It’s meant to be listened to as one piece. The whole point was to have the listener feel like they’re on a journey. If you put headphones on, it’ll take you to whatever places you’d like to go to.” [via Revolver]

Motive Black fittingly dropped title track, ‘Auburn,’ from their debut full-length on Black Friday. Produced by Grammy-winner Nick Rowe (Bloodsimple, Vampire Weekend), the track digs deeper into the theme of the album. Opening up about the central subject matter of her debut record with Motive Black, front woman Elana Justin says “‘Auburn’ is a song that means a lot to me. It means so much that I was almost hesitant to put it out. I lost my sister to her battle with addiction. She was one of the smartest women I will ever know. She was a straight-A student who aspired to be a doctor. Addiction does not discriminate. I am angry that she will never realize her dreams. This song is about loss, struggle, rage, but mostly it’s about missing my sister and all of her potential. I will never laugh with anyone like I did with Mia. We need to end the stigma associated with addiction. People are meant to be loved, not judged. I miss Mia every day, and I will for my whole life.”

New Heavy Sounds is pleased to announce their first release of 2023. The self-titled debut album by Death Pill, a hardcore punk power trio of considerable muscle, combining metalcore, punk rock and oodles of ‘Riot Grrl’ vibe. First single ‘Расцарапаю Ебало’ literally translated as ‘Scratch Asshole’ and is dedicated to Mariana’s ex, she says “if you hear it, honey, you should know, – i’ll scratch your fucking face until it bleeds!”

Since the release of their debut album in 2020, rising modern symphonic metal stars Ad Infinitum have stirred up the scene, and are now about to unveil their electrifying third studio album, Chapter III – Downfall, out March 31 via Napalm Records. After returning from several sold out shows on their expanded European and UK tour with Amaranthe, Beyond The Black and Butcher Babies, they have unleashed their next appetizer, ‘Somewhere Better.’ The new track creates an ethereal, catchy soundscape with screaming guitars colliding with vocalist Melissa Bonny’s haunting, perfectly contrasting voice. Underlining the ballad’s captivating feeling, its video creates a perfect symbiosis both musically and visually, carrying the listener into the new world of Ad Infinitum. Ad Infinitum on ‘Somewhere Better’: “After playing “Somewhere Better” on tour and sharing fantastic and emotional moments with thousands of people all around Europe and the UK, we are thrilled to release this song, together with a video full of memories of our tour with Amaranthe, Beyond the Black and Butcher Babies. Warm greetings to all the people who will spot themselves in this video!” [via Metal Underground]

German modern metal upstarts, League Of Distortion, have introduced an incredibly refreshing sound to the scene with the successful releases of fiery first singles ‘Wolf Or Lamb’ and ‘My Revenge’, proving the musical finesse and experience of lead members Anna “Ace” Brunner (Exit Eden) and Jim “Arro” Müller (Kissin’ Dynamite). While the electrified third single ‘It Hurts So Good’ recently added to their dangerous mood, the quartet goes all out by showing their most resilient side on final single ‘I’m A Bitch’, landing just before the release of their self-titled debut album last Friday via Napalm Records. The vibrant formation doesn’t make any compromises by offering a wild, energetic sound that doesn’t hide behind any norms. ‘I’m A Bitch’ kicks off with hypnotizing rhythms, rising up to a grooving, hard-hitting soundscape while making an empowering statement with its music video. League Of Distortion on ‘I’m A Bitch’: “This song is about social prejudice and inequality. Women and men are still being treated with different measures. With this provocative topic, song and music video, we are speaking up against this injustice, wanting to persuade you to reprogram the old patterns of thinking.” [via Brave Words]

Finnish symphonic metal band, Memoira, have released a new single and video, ‘Autumn’s Heart’. The new single represents a softer side of Memoira with the theme being the loss of a child. “The lyrical theme of the song is child loss. The narrator is the mother, who has just lost her child right as the child had started his young adult life. The mother is reminiscing about all that they’ve been through with a plaintive mind, but there is also hope. For everything they’ve been through, there are always the memories. Autumn’s heart is the cradle of the end of your life where all the memories will live on forever,” says Lassi Nuolivaara (keyboards). [via Brave Words]

In 2023, rising modern symphonic metal outfit AD INFINITUM re-enter the scene with their electrifying third studio album, Chapter III – Downfall, out March 31 via Napalm Records. The unit’s signature sound – consisting of heavy, modern riffs paired with haunting vocal melodies of incredibly talented Melissa Bonny – has positioned them for unstoppable ascension in the metal world. Following the massive stir caused by songs like ‘Marching on Versailles’ and ‘Unstoppable’ this next offering provides another wave of proof of the breakout success they have earned since the release of their debut album in 2020. With their freshly released new single, ‘Upside Down,’ AD INFINITUM enhance this addictive formula while defying all rules, combining epic melodies and demonic growls with finesse. The song goes in line with an impressively energetic official video setting a new standard in the band’s universe. AD INFINITUM on ‘Upside Down’: “As we hit the road for our European tour with Amaranthe, Beyond The Black, and Butcher Babies, we are proud and excited to present ‘Upside Down,’ the first single of our upcoming album ‘Chapter III – Downfall.’ We are looking forward to seeing many of you all over Europe and playing this new song on stage!” [via Tuonela Mag]

Swedish modern metal sensation, Amaranthe, are keen to release their brand-new single, ‘Find Life’, right in time for the start of their co-headlining European tour with Beyond The Black, which had been postponed numerous times. Olof Mörck comments: “’Find Life’ sees Amaranthe exploring a more somber and mature mood, all while keeping our trademark high energy rhythms and explosive riffs. Ethereal layers of keyboards meld seamlessly with a modern pumping bass line, topped off with some of the greatest vocal performances from vocalists Elize Ryd and Nils Molinyet. After quite some time we have reunited with video director and longtime Amaranthe collaborator Patric Ullaeus, for a video that is both intimate and explosive. We wanted to scale things down, and focus entirely on the individuals of the band, and Patric delivered as always!” [via BraveWords]
