Influenced by artists such as Yemi Alade, Flavour and Tiwa Savage, along with newer names like Tems, CKay and Nnonso Amadi, ‘Live and Let Me Live’ is an exciting contribution to the ever-growing Afropop genre. A particular nod is given to Flavour in particular, for his ability to put Igbo music, dance and attire on center stage with all his projects.

It’s a joyful track. The Igbo phrase “Biri ka mbiri,” consistently repeated throughout the song, translates as “live and let me live.” It’s an acceptance and acknowledgement that the world is big enough for all, and during our limited period on earth, it is better to spend time enjoying all life has to offer, rather than worrying about struggle and strife.

“I want this song to evoke a feeling of joy and escapism,” says Kate. “One of the most powerful things about music is its ability to touch us emotionally. I’m so proud of what I’ve been able to do with this song, and I genuinely hope that it touches every listener.”
