Not Enough Space returns with a bold new single, ‘Waiting 4 U,’ out now via Thriller Records. Known for their metalcore and post-hardcore roots, the Floridian quintet steps into uncharted territory with this latest track. ‘Waiting 4 U’ showcases the group’s evolving sound – retaining the emotional intensity and energy that define their identity, while embracing a fresh, experimental edge. It’s a compelling glimpse into the band’s versatility and creative ambition.

Lyrically, ‘Waiting 4 U’ captures the raw moment when love turns toxic and clarity finally cuts through the chaos. It’s about realising your worth, letting go of self-doubt, and walking away – not in defeat, but in power.

Speaking of the new single, Not Enough Share, “‘Waiting 4 U’ is an explosive, pop rock anthem that resonates with anyone who has endured the emotional experience of waiting in vain for a partner to change. We wanted to capture that turning point where you finally decide to walk away and take your power back. This track taps into our ability to genre blend as a band, and embraces different influences such as Paramore and Avril Lavigne.”

Finnish metallers BATTLE BEAST will release their seventh studio album, Steelbound, in October via Nuclear Blast. The official music video for the LP’s title track can be seen below.

BATTLE BEAST keyboardist, producer and ‘Steelbound’ title track composer Janne Björkroth states: “‘Steelbound’ is a song that is both heavy and light at the same time. It goes through the walls with a bang, both in terms of composition and lyrics, without forgetting the groove and the little twinkle in the eye.”

A thunderous anthem of defiance and resilience, ‘Steelbound’ is a power-charged battle cry for all who have ever been dismissed, diminished, or silenced.

“‘Steelbound’ is a song about all of us,” Janne reflects. “About the power to resist injustice and the respect that belongs to everyone. Sometimes the settings can be a little off, but you can, and should, constantly adjust your attitudes.”

BATTLE BEAST singer Noora Louhimo adds: “As a child, I was bullied at school, and as an adult, I’ve experienced misogyny and sexism in my professional and private life. Through all these experiences, I’ve become a person who always fights against injustice. ‘Steelbound’ is a power song for all of us trying to navigate difficult life situations and relationships. The song deals with painful things, but at the same time, it gives us strength to keep fighting against the world’s injustices. Let’s rise together, because we are ‘Steelbound!'” [via Blabbermouth]

AILSHA has released her debut EP Good Looking Girl, Awful Music.

The three song EP includes previously released singles ‘Hot Girls’ and ‘Press Start’, as well as the EP’s title track ‘Good Looking Girl, Awful Music’, billed as AILSHA’s “heaviest track to date.”

“This EP contains my best songs yet, songs that spill my story as an artist, and make it clear that I’m not going anywhere,” said AILSHA. She added that the project’s title “comes from a comment someone left on one of my videos last year.”

“Instead of letting it get to me, I turned it into this EP that I am so very proud of. This EP is about finding confidence, my voice, shutting out negativity, and embracing all of the highs and lows that come with chasing a dream.”

Daedric continues the march toward their sophomore album with the release of their latest single, ‘Alien Skin.’

A pure metalcore adrenaline rush, ‘Alien Skin’ was an early favorite and a must-have for the album. Originally written in 2019, it let Daedric’s live members Trevor (drums) and Dylan (guitar) shine, scratching the band’s metal itch with raw intensity.

“Lyrically, I had written this one after watching the movie Dark City from the ’90s,” Kristyn Hope explains. The song draws inspiration from the 1998 sci-fi film Dark City, exploring paranoia, self-doubt, and reality distortion. The protagonist questions whether they’ve committed a terrible crime, mirroring the film’s eerie world where unseen forces manipulate reality. The pre-chorus introduces a sinister voice whispering doubt: “You’re not going to be okay,” adding to the song’s unsettling atmosphere.

Musically, ‘Alien Skin’ marked a shift for Daedric, introducing gritty, belted vocals for the first time. The chorus, instead of exploding with energy, takes a hauntingly restrained approach, amplifying the song’s tension. This track also connects directly to ‘Dreamweaver,’ which expands on its themes of paranoia and inescapable nightmares.

Blending sci-fi horror with a relentless metalcore edge, ‘Alien Skin’ stands as one of the album’s most conceptually rich and intense tracks. [via Outburn]

Irish alt metal artist Ailsha‘s final release to close out a successful year is ‘Call In A Minute’. The song is an alternative metal power anthem that was generated from a place of fear- as well as fun. Reflecting on her inability to successfully spend a night alone without calling a loved one with a panic attack of some sort, ‘Call In A Minute’ encapsulates the irrationality of these moments as well as the anxiety they can create. With lyrics like “I can’t stop using my phone, ’cause I’m scared of most things in this world”, ‘Call In A Minute’ playfully represents AILSHA’s experience with anxiety and how it can manifest into something bigger that ends up involving the loved ones in her life. In the artist’s own words; “‘I wanted to just make a song that I enjoyed making, and ‘Call In A Minute’ came from a place of fun. The majority of the song was made just by messing around on Logic late at night in my bedroom, and the lyrics initially made no sense. It was only by realising one day when I was by myself that I was calling my mam about something I was very irrationally worried about and I thought, hey, that’s a fun idea for a song- how I can’t just be on my own for a night without worrying about something. The song conveys a mixture between the silly side of the irrational anxiety I often experience as well as the panic attack side of it all, but in a way that makes it fun to perform live.”

Get ready for an all-consuming descent into the depths of sorrow and survival. Evig Natt is back with a new single, ‘Sorrow My World.’ The track, accompanied by a stunning video, is the second taste of what’s to come on the band’s upcoming album, Vaketimen. The track ‘Sorrow My World’ deals with grief and how it can be all-consuming, eating you up from the inside to the point of no return. With no hope of relief, there’s no way out but through. The video for ‘Sorrow My World’ portrays a girl who is consumed by a demon. She’s been marked by its hands and battling its hold over her. She traps the demon by drawing a pentagram of protection around her finally releasing it from her body.

Enemy Inside are surprising their fans with a brutal pre-Christmas present: the compact three-minute ‘Don’t Call Me An Angel’. The single follows the ultimate Halloween anthem, ‘Fuck That Party’ [feat. Zak Tell] and will also be featured on their upcoming album, Venom, which will be released on February 28 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM). There’s a message of immense importance behind ENEMY INSIDE’s latest track, making it an anchor for those struggling with mental health and self-care issues. Nastassja Giulia’s initial vocals lead to a heavenly chorus that lets the listener drift off into distant worlds – only to tear them out of their dreams shortly afterwards with cutting riffs before the band’s inner beast comes to light – also in the accompanying video. “’Don’t Call Me An Angel’ delves deep into the depths of depression and shows how this darkness can grip not only ourselves, but our loved ones as well. The song is an honest confession: a reminder that our inner struggles often affect the people around us and we inadvertently cause them pain. He describes the feeling of being caught in a whirlpool that drags others along, even though we want to protect them. ‘Don’t Call Me An Angel’ is both a warning and a silent cry for help: a haunting look at the hidden depths behind a smile.
LUNA KILLS have announced their debut album. Titled DEATHMATCH, the upcoming album from the Finnish alternative metalcore band is their debut full-length album, and is scheduled to be released in April next year, via SharpTone Records. Alongside the announcement of the debut album, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; ‘sugar rush’. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from slay ur enemies, which was released back in October. Speaking about the new single, the band shares, “’sugar rush’ captures the drive to pursue happiness in the face of persistent self-doubt. Centered around the struggle to find happiness despite a constant sense of never measuring up, the song delves into the pressures of a world that demands overachievement and monetization of everything, ultimately draining the joy from passions that once gave life meaning. At the time, before we started writing ‘sugar rush’, we had been working on other songs for a long period of time and we felt really exhausted and after multiple failed attempts of trying to force ourselves to focus, we felt that we needed to reset our brain and mindset. sugar rush became a powerful outlet for all that we were going through, a way to channel exhaustion and frustration with the pressures of perfectionism and constant productivity. The creative process itself almost became a form of catharsis, a reset, allowing us to confront those feelings directly and then transform them into something meaningful.” [via Distorted Sound]

ELUVEITIE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Premonition,’ is the brand new single from the Swiss folk metal band and marks their first new music since 2022’s Exile Of The Gods. Speaking about the new single, frontman Chrigel Glanzmann comments, “we’re beyond excited to finally open the door and unleash some new music! ‘Premonition’ comes in laying bare the heart and soul of ELUVEITIE‘s music, while transporting deep ancient wisdom of the Celtic into the modern age, wielding druidic words to point out the way through the deepest struggle within and all around ourselves. We hope you’ll enjoy this piece of music as much as we do ourselves!” [via Distorted Sound]

Off the back of the success of her previous two releases this year enters ‘MEOW’, an exciting concoction of alternative and progressive metal which laments the everyday life of AILSHA‘s beloved- but annoying- pet cat, Nugget. Boasting three legs, a pretty face and serving a tonne of attitude, ‘MEOW’ describes Nugget’s demands for constant admiration and her persistent pursuit of endless attention. Forever looking down upon everybody else around her with lyrics like “give me a reason why I should come down to Earth, if you won’t look at me when you’re my universe”. In the ‘sparklecore’ artist’s own words; “‘MEOW’ was a fun song to create and was inspired by my cat Nugget’s constant demands for attention. I wanted to write the song from her perspective which I feel applies to most pets- they’re only here for a short time, but a good time, and within that short time we become their whole world. I wanted to sing/scream the lyrics in a way I imagine she would if she could and I tried things with my vocals that I hadn’t tried in a track before. It’s definitely the heaviest song yet and already a hit at my live shows- I can’t wait for people to hear this one.”

Hailing from Brazil, symphonic metal sensation Revengin is thrilled to announce their signing with Wormholedeath Records for the release of their highly anticipated new album, Dark Dogma Embrace, set to drop in early 2025. Formed in 2008 by a collective of seasoned musicians hailing from Rio de Janeiro, Revengin is here to melt your face with their brand of symphonic brutality. To celebrate this monumental signing, the band unleashes their first single, ‘Circle of Mistakes,’ a sonic masterpiece that serves as a powerful introduction to the forthcoming album. ‘Circle of Mistakes’ explores the duality we all carry within ourselves, the denial of our flaws that keeps us trapped in a self-perpetuating cycle of negativity. ‘Circle of Mistakes’ is an anthem for self-awareness. Heavy, pummeling verses lay the foundation for a soaring, powerful chorus that lays bare the complexities of human nature. The song is a call to confront our weaknesses, for it’s only through acceptance that we can truly break free. The track’s closing section beautifully reflects this liberation, a soul unburdened from the shackles that held it back, ready to embrace its full potential. The song’s emotional depth is further amplified by the stunning music video for ‘Circle of Mistakes.’ Scripted by Bruna Rocha and brought to life by director Felipe Borges, the video utilizes a striking color scheme of cyan and amber to symbolize human duality. Shadows and smoke weave a tapestry of emotional intensity, perfectly complementing the song’s lyrical themes. The band’s passionate performance further elevates the viewing experience.

Australian cinemetal outfit Ammify pulls back the curtain on societal greed with the captivating music video for their track ‘Fluffy Little Rats,’ featured on their acclaimed album Lost, Not Hiding, released via Wormholedeath Records. ‘Fluffy Little Rats’ is a tale of greed, control, the pursuit of money and power – this rat race that leads us to a false paradise. There are clowns around to make you feel happy to be alive. Are you a performer in this crazy, creepy circus? Or are you paying the fee to keep the circus going? Directed and produced by Peter Renzullo, the music video for ‘Fluffy Little Rats’ is a visually stunning exploration of the song’s themes. Astonishing visuals and Ammify’s signature cinemetal soundscape create a captivating experience.

Norwegian gothic doom metal sensations Evig Natt are thrilled to announce their signing with WormHoleDeath Records for the release of their upcoming album, Vaketimen. This exciting collaboration marks a significant milestone in the band’s journey, promising a new chapter of powerful music and captivating performances. To celebrate their signing with WormHoleDeath, Evig Natt unveils their first single and a stunning accompanying video: ‘Når Lyset Svikte’. Translated as “When the Light Fails,” the track delves into the depths of despair, exploring the emotions of surrendering to darkness when the will to fight fades. The song is sung in Evig Natt’s native Norwegian dialect, specifically on their home island of Karmøy. Vocalist Kirsten Jørgensen feels a deep connection to her lyrics in this dialect, making them more direct and emotionally potent. The video for “Når Lyset Svikte” depicts the terrifying experience of sleep paralysis, where the sufferer may experience hallucinations upon waking or falling asleep. The visuals capture the sheer terror of this phenomenon. The concept was brought to life by the immensely talented filmmaker Thomas Mortveit (Shady Shades) and his incredible crew, with support from Filmkraft AS.

SIMONE SIMONS has released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘R.E.D.’, is taken from the EPICA vocalist’s upcoming debut album, Vermillion, which is scheduled to be released in August this year, via Nuclear Blast Records. Speaking about the new song, Simons shares, “’R.E.D.’ deals with the rise of artificial intelligence, imagining a future where the creation begins to outpace the creator. It reflects on the AI’s growing self-awareness and its unfulfilled desire to experience emotions, something that its synthetic nature makes impossible to ever realize. The song also looks at the double-edged nature of technological advancements and the profound existential questions that are becoming ever more important to address.” [via Distorted Sound]

Runner up in Ireland’s Eurosong National Final in January for Eurovision 2024 with her previous hit single ‘Go Tobann’ , AILSHA is back with her heaviest track to date, ‘Haunted’. “‘Haunted’ is a journey through the emotions of realizing someone you deeply trusted was actually sucking the life out of you,” she explains. “It’s like waking up in this twisted vampire movie where they’ve been sucking your energy all along, and they took your empathy to bury in their never-ending cemetery of lies. The song is about breaking free and reclaiming your worth. I also listened to fans who wanted me to include the Irish language in some songs going forward so in the heavy breakdowns in this track I scream ‘díbrim thú’, which means ‘I banish you’, symbolising breaking away from the hold this person had over you. ‘Haunted’ is basically my anthem for anyone who’s been through that soul-sucking realization- and for anyone who needs it.”

Kittie have unveiled the new song and video ‘One Foot in the Grave,’ the latest single from their forthcoming comeback album, Fire, arriving June 21. Unlike the previous, more groove/thrash-oriented singles, ‘One Foot in the Grave’ harkens back to Kittie’s origins during the peak of the nu-metal movement. The glossy vocal production is theatrical and very early 2000s, while the deliberate slam-chords and pop-punkish tempo change are characteristic of Kittie’s early material. Given those subtle anachronisms, it’s slightly ironic that the song is actually about “letting go of the demons of the past to begin anew,” according to singer-guitarist Morgan Lander. “The excitement is palpable in anticipation of our forthcoming album release, with the unleashing of our latest offering ‘One Foot in the Grave,’” hyped Lander in the press release. “It’s a feisty, high-energy song about coming back from the dead and rising from the ashes so to speak, paralleling our real life experiences as of late.” [via Consequence]

The new line-up of Finnish-Ecuadorean melodic heavy metal band BLACK SUN shares ‘Drown In Sin’ the second single from their forthcoming self-titled album. Fronted by the formidable Netta Laurenne, Black Sun is completed by founding members Nicolas Estrada (drums), Christopher Grünberg (guitar), and Santiago Salem (bass) as well as the band’s producer, Thunderstone guitarist Nino Laurenne. As a result, Ecuador and Finland are now bonded and represented by a band that is one of a kind. With this new lineup, Black Sun entered the studio to record a full-length album, which was recorded at Hi Noiz Studio and Sonic Pump Studios, produced and mixed by Nino Laurenne, and mastered by Svante Forsback (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Volbeat, Amaranthe). About the track, Netta shares: “‘Drown In Sin’ is a song about the decay and malice of the human race. As the narrator, Karma adds an interesting twist, promising eventual justice for everyone by stating, ‘I will wipe them all out’.” [via Brave Words]

Progressive death metal duo, Entheos, unleashes their latest single, ‘Life In Slow Motion’. The track, and accompanying video, follows the band’s crushing ‘An End To Everything’ single released last month and serves as a precursor to the music to come later this year. Elaborates vocalist Chaney Crabb, “‘Life In Slow Motion’ is a song about seeing life through the eyes of drug addiction and the ways that it affects not only the addict, but the people who surround them. It’s about wanting to return to a moment in life where the addiction took over and pondering what could have happened if things went another direction. Musically, this is one of the heaviest and fastest songs that we’ve written. We wanted the music to make listeners feel the tension that builds in the track, which ultimately is released with one of our heaviest breakdowns.” [via Brave Words]

Death & Legacy returns with this stunning new video for their single ‘The Devourer Of Light.’ This is the first glimpse of their upcoming album, with more details to be revealed soon. ‘The Devourer of Light’ kicks off with a classic rhythm with its synthesizer introduction and infectious beat. The song’s melody is undeniably catchy, driven by harmonized guitar riffs that complement each other seamlessly. This melodic charm is sharply contrasted by the raw, intense vocals of the band’s lead singer, Hynphernia, whose powerful voice adds a distinctive edge to the track. The accompanying music video has a high production quality and it predominantly features Hynphernia but with glimpses of the other band members. The interplay of blue and red lights and the camera’s movement creates a striking visual contrast that mirrors the band’s and Hynphernia’s compelling presence.
Almost a year after its release, the fourth studio album by Swedish symphonic dark metal sensation Eleine, We Shall Remain, is still on everyone’s lips. Now, the indefatigable five-piece unveil the official video for the track ‘Suffering’ which incorporates huge melodies, crushing riffs, an insane vocal range and orchestral grandeur. Vocalist Madeleine Liljestam and guitarist/vocalist Rikard Ekberg explain the profound meaning of the song, “Life is never easy and sometimes it forces you to push forward even when you see no reason to. Your own mind is beating you down and tearing you apart, repeating the past that leaves you in an endless loop of hopelessness and pain. But… you don’t give up. You start facing your fears which leaves you torn between staying in a place you know but is destroying you or go towards something unexplored that may or may not give you strength. Eventually you reach a point where you see your old self from the other side. That’s when you know you survived.” [via Brave Words]

‘Enemy’ is AILSHA’s fourth single release of 2023 and is her heaviest track to date. The song is a follow-up to her recent releases ‘Sucker’, ‘Red Flags’ and ‘Sleep’.

With each single release this year, AILSHA has gradually explored her songs becoming heavier and heavier, with ‘Enemy’ being her first fully heavy track. The makeup artist turned video games composer utilises her love of gaming in this song which was inspired by the excitement of boss fights. Influenced by Japanese electronic metal and elements of cyberpunk, the song conveys the journey of battling and defeating an enemy in a boss fight, but also ruminating on how circumstances escalated into a war. The track features a drum breakdown between Al Quiff of Beardfire Studios and Dublin-based metalcore drummer Veronika Švecová to symbolise the battle between forces.

AILSHA explains: “This year I have been exploring going heavier and heavier with each track I have released, and with ‘Enemy’ I wanted to explore this even further. I never thought I could scream but I pushed myself to try it for this song, and the heavily distorted guitars and crazy drum-offs in the track pushed the song beyond my expectations. I always like to incorporate my career as a video games composer into my releases but I wanted this song in particular to represent that side of my work. I want to show the world my darker side.”

‘Sleep’ is AILSHA’s third single release of 2023 and is a follow-up to her latest singles ‘Sucker’ and ‘Red Flags’. Her heaviest yet, ‘Sleep’ pivots from AILSHA’s usual playful lyrics and instead explores a darker topic; the very human feeling of existential dread. The playful instrumentation of the track explores an array of genres in each section from pop-rock to punk to heavy ‘djent’ metal, giving focus to the different flows of emotions that come with pondering about one’s existence.

The honest lyrics in the track come from a place of AILSHA exploring her own acceptance of the unknown: “I have tried to comprehend that all good things come to an end.”

In the artists own words; “‘Sleep’ is an explosion of fun that comes from a dark place of anxiety. I think many people can relate to those late nights when you get into bed and your brain decides to freak you out about your own existence. The lyrics in ‘Sleep’ ultimately come from a place of my own struggles when it comes to accepting life and death and surrendering to the unknown. The upbeat verses and choruses explore intrusive, existential thoughts, and the heavy ‘djent’ style breakdowns represent the world of the unknown. I’ve always wanted to introduce metal into my music so this is a track I’m really excited about.”

Pink, punk and perpetually playful, AILSHA sings about the things in life we should all laugh rather than cry about. She is now kicking off 2023 exploring a more punk rock style with the release of her heaviest track to date ‘Sucker’.

“‘Sucker’ is about the emotional hangover of romantically pursuing a crush who was previously a friend and how messy and regretful a situation like that can feel,” explains AILSHA. “I wanted to create a chaotic, fast-paced track that conveys the messiness of the situation, but also showcase my love of rock and video game music. I feel the track is an explosion of a bunch of fun ideas that have been waiting to burst out of me- having always been a rocker at heart, I’m really excited to finally be releasing this kind of music.
