NYC’s resident misfits Couch Slut have played a veritable strain of drug-fueled, incendiary, hardcore noise rock since 2013. Led by Megan Osztrosits’ infernal roar and subversive, vitriolic lyrics, the quintet returns with their fourth full-length opus You Could Do It Tonight, incoming April 19 from Brutal Panda Records. The record feels like both a summation and an expansion of the Couch Slut experience to date. On one hand, it features some of the band’s most straightforward noise-rock crushers— a prime example: ‘Ode to Jimbo,’ which pairs a stomping central riff with lyrics about sloppy-drunk excess, set in Osztrosits’ favorite Brooklyn watering hole, Jimbo Slim’s. “‘Ode to Jimbo’ is the first, like, love song that we’ve ever done, and I did that for my friend’s bar that I go to every day,” she explains.

Anette Olzon, the former powerhouse vocalist of Nightwish and one-half of the dynamic duo behind The Dark Element alongside Jani Liimatainen, is back with her highly anticipated third solo album, Rapture. The first single, ‘Heed the Call,’ from Rapture is out now, offering a tantalizing taste of what’s to come from this highly anticipated release. With a sense of excitement and anticipation, Anette Olzon shares: “I’m so happy to release the first song from my upcoming album Rapture. ‘Heed the Call’ is a culmination of passion, energy, and creative expression, and I truly hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed bringing it to life.”

Sweden’s masters of thunderous, melodic futurism, AMARANTHE, release their highly anticipated album The Catalyst via Nuclear Blast Records. Along with the album release, a music video has dropped for the title track. The band states: “The proverbial eagle has landed! After a few years of hard toil, sweat, and at least a small amount of blood, we are enormously proud and downright electrified to know that our newborn and latest album – The Catalyst is available worldwide! This has truly been a journey of pure passion and creative experimentation, along with a dose of soul-searching for good measure. We hope that you will find it to your taste, and if you do – don’t forget to stop by The Catalyst World Tour when it hits a town near YOU!” [via Outburn]

Furor Gallico has released a video for ‘Call Of The Wind’ (directed by Raoul Noise / Nova Rolfilm Studios), second single taken from the new album Future To Come to be released on March 22 by Scarlet Records.

RELIQA have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Terminal’, is the brand new single from the Australian progressive metalcore band and its release comes as the band signs with Nuclear Blast Records for all territories outside of Australia, where they have signed to Greyscale Records. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Monique Pym says, “’Terminal’ feels like the perfect re-introduction of RELIQA to the world. It’s vibrant, high-shine and optimistic, yet with a moody, introspective cloud hanging over it that foreshadows all that’s still to come. We’re beyond thrilled to be back, especially now with the support of our new families at Nuclear Blast and Greyscale.” [via Distorted Sound]

LEAVES’ EYES have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘In Eternity,’ is taken from the German symphonic metal band’s upcoming new album, Myths Of Fate, which is scheduled to be released in March this year. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, vocalist Elina Siirala says, “’In Eternity’ is one of the most personal songs in LEAVES’ EYES history, dedicated to Alex‘ late mother Heidi Krull. It’s a tribute to our ancestors, a primal anthem to their lives and spirits. The song embodies the rawness of emotion which the video’s striking visuals accompany. The vast landscapes of Iceland and a pagan ceremony filmed in Wolin / Poland bring the story of the song alive in a captivating way.” [via Distorted Sound]

Infected Rain are kicking off 2024 with a bang. The Moldovan metal band — helmed by powerhouse frontwoman Lena Scissorhands — dropped ‘VIVARIUM,’ the third single off their upcoming sixth album, TIME, and the heaviest so far. The song follows up December’s ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU’ and November’s ‘NEVER TO RETURN,’ and offers a djentier mutation of the group’s singular progressive-meets-nu-metal sound. Crank it above via its high-octane music video. “‘VIVARIUM’ is about feeling trapped in a world we’ve built ourselves,” Infected Rain commented in a joint statement. “A perfect world full of illusion, gimmicks and fake promises, like a beautiful but restricting glass garden. It’s about overcoming these barriers, and seeing through the thick air and tall walls. This song is for everyone trying to break free from their own limits and create their own path.” [via Revolver]

Illumishade is now streaming the super catchy new single ‘Cloudreader’ from their upcoming record Another Side Of You, due out February 16. The single comes alongside a video by Mirko Witzki of Witzki Visions. “‘Cloudreader’ describes our human journey as an ever-flowing tide of decay and renewal from which we can harvest a devout humility,” said Illumishade of the single. “Deeply remedial at its core, this song is a pathfinder for individual peace.” [via Metal Injection]

Australian dark-folk-meets-blackgaze project Suldusk is back with a new single ‘Antithesis’. The single is the title track from Suldusk’s forthcoming new record due out March 1, and you can check it out below alongside a music video by David Xuereb of Grim Reflections. “We are very excited to finally release ‘Anthesis’, which is the title track and first single off the upcoming album,” said Suldusk mastermind Emily Highfield. “Lunar Falls was a one woman project, but the new album is a band venture. This has enabled Suldusk to delve even deeper musically, lyrically and as a live experience. Many thanks to the loyal fans for being ever so patient, and to the great team at Napalm Records. Much love, Emily.” [via Metal Injection]

Exit Eden have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Femme Fatale’, is taken from the symphonic metal supergroup’s new album, Femmes Fatales, out now. Speaking about the new song, the band says, “when our paths initially crossed years ago, we were strangers and became friends, allies, sisters in crime… With the song Femme Fatale, we turned the tables, played with our own cards and established new rules. We set ourselves free from prejudice and limitations, embracing our true nature and femininity, regaining our power to stand as modern witches — resilient, liberated, we ARE Femmes Fatales.” [via Distorted Sound]

Amaranthe have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Re-Vision’, is taken from the Swedish metal band’s upcoming new album, The Catalyst, which is scheduled to be released in February this year. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, guitarist Olof Mörck says, “it is time for the fourth single from The Catalyst, ‘Re-Vision’, and this time we went all in. Ponderous cyberpunk and synthwave rhythms clash with Amaranthe’s signature sound in an equally thrilling and memorable blend, sure to act as a permanent cybernetic implant into your brain. The prodigious video, once again actualised by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus, serves as the perfect counterpoint to Re-Vision, more ambitious and explosive than any Amaranthe video to date! As predictions from the 80s Artificial Intelligence seem to become truer every day, we are ready to serve you a cataclysmic yet captivating foresight into the future of AMARANTHE: Re-Visioned.” [via Distorted Sound]

Pop-Metal band Major Moment are known for their intense and cinematic sound that blends heavy guitar riffs, modern production, and melodic vocals. Now they are back with their new single ‘Overcome’. An effortless mix of pop melodies, EDM synths and metal riffs Major Moment’s ‘Overcome’ combines both female and male vocals to create an inspirational new offering. “‘Overcome’ was inspired by our music journey and is about prevailing over difficult times and persevering against all odds. But if we zoom out and look at our everyday lives, full of conflicts, health issues, losses, financial struggles, aspirations, wins and failures, we see a similar theme everyone can relate to, the one of pain and, as a result of overcoming it, personal growth. ‘Overcome’ is the anthem made for all creators out there struggling to get their voices heard, doubting every day if it’s worth fighting for,” says vocalist Sasha.

Amaranthe is back with a brand new single ‘Damnation Flame’, serving as both the kickoff to the band’s festival season and an introduction to new vocalist Mikael Sehlin. “‘Damnation Flame’ breaks new ground for us in many ways, and in all the best ways possible,” said Amaranthe mastermind Olof. “This is the very first Amaranthe song to feature symphonic elements, something we’ve wanted to do for a long time, and the darkened vampiric theme melds together perfectly with our take on modern melodic metal! Amaranthe has always been about being boundless and constantly reinventing ourselves, and by now you know to expect the unexpected. This is 100% pure passion poured into music, as you will no doubt experience yourself from the very first second – enjoy ‘Damnation Flame’, with the promise of much more to come SOON!” [via Metal Injection]

Brazilian death metal outfit Crypta have revealed another furious new single, the second glimpse of their new beast of an album Shades of Sorrow, releasing Aug 4 via Napalm Records. After smashing in with the relentless ‘Lord of Ruins‘, the first single from Shades of Sorrow, ‘Trial of Traitors’ serves as another harbinger of the new record – breaking in with merciless, impressive guitar work and inciting an uncontrollable storm of pure rage that screams for more. Crypta on ‘Trial of Traitors’: “We decided to have ‘Trial of Traitors’ as one of the singles because, although it’s the fastest, most aggressive song on album, it still has a lot of our already characteristic melodic work here and there, so we thought this blend of these two extremes would be a good sneak-peek into what people can expect overall from the album!” [via Metal Planet]

In 2023, rising modern symphonic metal outfit AD INFINITUM re-enter the scene with their electrifying third studio album, Chapter III – Downfall, out March 31 via Napalm Records. The unit’s signature sound – consisting of heavy, modern riffs paired with haunting vocal melodies of incredibly talented Melissa Bonny – has positioned them for unstoppable ascension in the metal world. Following the massive stir caused by songs like ‘Marching on Versailles’ and ‘Unstoppable’ this next offering provides another wave of proof of the breakout success they have earned since the release of their debut album in 2020. With their freshly released new single, ‘Upside Down,’ AD INFINITUM enhance this addictive formula while defying all rules, combining epic melodies and demonic growls with finesse. The song goes in line with an impressively energetic official video setting a new standard in the band’s universe. AD INFINITUM on ‘Upside Down’: “As we hit the road for our European tour with Amaranthe, Beyond The Black, and Butcher Babies, we are proud and excited to present ‘Upside Down,’ the first single of our upcoming album ‘Chapter III – Downfall.’ We are looking forward to seeing many of you all over Europe and playing this new song on stage!” [via Tuonela Mag]

Swedish modern metal sensation, Amaranthe, are keen to release their brand-new single, ‘Find Life’, right in time for the start of their co-headlining European tour with Beyond The Black, which had been postponed numerous times. Olof Mörck comments: “’Find Life’ sees Amaranthe exploring a more somber and mature mood, all while keeping our trademark high energy rhythms and explosive riffs. Ethereal layers of keyboards meld seamlessly with a modern pumping bass line, topped off with some of the greatest vocal performances from vocalists Elize Ryd and Nils Molinyet. After quite some time we have reunited with video director and longtime Amaranthe collaborator Patric Ullaeus, for a video that is both intimate and explosive. We wanted to scale things down, and focus entirely on the individuals of the band, and Patric delivered as always!” [via BraveWords]
