For the accompanying video, the band’s Art Director Darina had a lightbulb moment with an homage to the band’s favourite TV show Severance. All three of the band’s upcoming music videos play with the idea of multiple selves. The video sees the band working in an office as colleagues, unaware that in a parallel universe they may well be in a Crypt together, playing as a band.

Catrin explains “In the video Office Catrin is desperate to be liked by her fellow colleagues. But then she sees the version of herself she wishes she could be, Musician Catrin, which causes her to fully break down. It was a lot of fun to act out.”

The announcement is accompanied by a brand-new track which does not appear on Beach Day, ‘Aimee Caught A Moth’. Explaining this decision, vocalist and lyricist Catrin Vincent says – “We weren’t sure exactly how to announce the record. It felt like it needed more than words. And we’ve already released plenty of songs from it. So we gift to you a B-side, ‘Aimee Caught A Moth’. This was one of the songs that fell through the net but one we still love.

“It’s a very literal song written in the depths of lockdown, when my flatmate Aimee caught and released a moth from a cobweb. It felt incredibly significant and songworthy. Aimee is an incredible person and deserves a song.”

Discussing Beach Day, Catrin adds: “We thought we’d finished our second record back in 2019 when we released I Slept On The Floor. But time is a complicated beast. And in the depths of lockdown, a completely new vision arose, one that we all knew we needed to follow instead.

“That vision was Beach Day. It’s a story about moving through personal winters and finding the light. It’s about acknowledging your whole self; your shadow side, your anger, your sadness… and learning to love those parts of yourself in order to move through it. We hope you can hear the beginnings of transformation in it.”

Continuing the ferocious sentiments and instrumentation of the previous two singles, they release new track ‘Burn The Way’. Vocalist Catrin Vincent says of the track, “‘Burn The Way’ was written after a conversation with someone in denial about climate change. It’s about the feeling of being powerless and having to run from someone’s behaviour before you take on their reality. As much as anger is a difficult, complicated emotion, it’s sometimes the first step towards survival. Climate change is coming for everyone. No one can wait it out in the trees. Sometimes anger burns the way.

“We also wrote it after supporting Biffy Clyro which completely gave us a new perspective on live performance. We played it a few times on our last tour and it’s the first time we’ve had a mosh pit at any of our shows.”

Today Another Sky are excited to release ‘A Feeling’, another huge creative step forward for the band. Melding richly textured percussion and rhythm sections with squalling, Soundgarden-esque guitars and the furious vocals of vocalist Catrin Vincent, Another Sky are fully embracing their electrifying new era.

Vocalist Catrin Vincent says of the track – “‘A Feeling’ was written after a conversation with an ultra-capitalist. I lost my job in lockdown and they said I should accept it was my punishment for “just not working hard enough.”

“It was around the time of Mollie May and Kim Kardashian saying things like, “everyone has the same 24 hours in a day”. With everyone in lockdown, social media exploded. We were all hunting each other, lecturing each other and telling each other how to survive, without thinking of the different circumstances people live in.

“The song is bitter, but hopefully something a lot of people can relate to and find catharsis in. I was reminded of all my least favourite bosses and authority figures. I felt like I’d lost the strength to argue facts, and all I was left with was a feeling.”

“Most of our upcoming music is pretty influenced by music from the late 90s and early 00s. So releasing an A-Side and B-Side felt like a good way of paying homage to the era we grew up in.” says lead singer Catrin Vincent.

On the songs themselves, Vincent comments “They reflect a really personal journey. I usually hate writing lyrics about myself, but during lockdown, it was the only thing I had to write about. I was so surprised to find multitudes of grief and sadness disguised as anger. ‘Psychopath’ captures the angriest I’ve ever felt. For years, I felt like that rage could never be voiced.”

On the B-Side Catrin adds, “’Watching Basinski’ captures the grief that lies underneath that anger. That’s what our new music is trying to convey; the human journey from fear and anger through to love and acceptance.”
