Sorceress of Sin have proudly unveiled the lyric video for their single ‘Reina,’ a poetic tribute to Hera, the Queen of the Gods in Greek mythology. Lisa Skinner’s sublime and powerful vocals, paired with Constantine’s masterful guitar work, create a soundscape as grand and commanding as the goddess herself, perfectly capturing Hera’s magnificence. ‘Reina’ is a track from the band’s album Ennea, which is due for release on December 20. The lyrics delve into Hera’s dual nature, portraying her as a protective, majestic deity and a fierce, vengeful force. This layered depiction reflects her role as a divine hero and a formidable presence in mythology, embodying the complexity and grandeur of her character.

Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit, Arimea, have shared the official music video for their brand-new single, ‘Orchid Street’ – taken from their debut EP, which is out now under the same name. “To me, ‘Orchid street’ feels like the arrival at home. Musically, it’s a place I have been trying to get to for a long time, but it’s been difficult to find with every new genre and style holding up a big ‘come in’ sign above it, and It’s hard not to fall into the pit of sounding like everything else. I’m a person that struggles to convey my emotions with words, but I can with music, ‘Orchid street’ is the sound of my childhood and all of the memories I have attached to it, but dressed up for ready for the real world, emotionally ready, and knows what it is,” says drummer, Richard Stedman.

Melodic hard rockers The Big Deal are pleased to share their new video ‘Survivor’, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. Guitarist Srdjan Brankovic expresses his enthusiasm for the release: “Together with Frontiers Records, we are very much looking forward to presenting to you our new single, the song ‘Survivor’. We are very happy that during the process we collaborated with Anders Wikström (Treat), who composed the song and wrote the lyrics!”

Formed in 2008 by experienced musicians from Rio de Janeiro/Brazil, Revengin presents the track ‘Decadent Feeling’, the second single from the album Dark Dogma Embrace, scheduled to be released in early 2025. Following the overwhelming reception of ‘Circle of Mistakes’, Revengin’s new single delivers a powerful yet graceful narrative of an intense love that gradually becomes platonic after a series of heartbreaking disappointments. With a striking melody and an intense chorus, the song portrays an internal battle of feelings where reason and emotion lead to the certainty of anguish. Providing a unique cinematic experience, the music video for ‘Decadent Feeling’ was filmed in the band’s hometown Rio de Janeiro.

Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit, Arimea, have shared their latest new single ‘Leash’ – another piece of their forthcoming EP, Orchid Street (due for release on November 28). ‘Leash’ is an angry whirlwind of emotions, a delicate tightrope of conversation that could easily explode at any moment. The single sees Arimea delve head first into the heavier grunge side of the band with vocalist, Whitney Cooper, pushing herself to the extremes with her harsh vocals. “’Leash’ is a song written about Misogyny intertwined with the idea of playing out your intrusive thoughts,” states vocalist Whitney Cooper. “You know, those thoughts that make you shiver and question who you are, thoughts so unlike your reality that you have to shake the thought of them off after having them.”

THE DEFECT returns with a fierce dichotic new single ‘LOST IN THE SHADOWS’ eclipsing both the darkness and the light with opposing vocal performances from singers Moon and Jonny McBee. ‘Lost In The Shadows’ builds on THE DEFECT’s signature sound cut with gritty guitars and a haunting atmosphere that is amplified by the powerful blend of these sultry tones from start to finish. Synthesizers complement the track’s hypnotic chorus and bring a modern edge to its nu-metal, industrial, and metalcore foundation. The result is a captivating futuristic soundscape that is both heavy and melodic, blending intensity with emotional depth with the signature raw intensity from both vocalists. This unique fusion of metalcore breakdowns, industrial synths, and nu-metal grooves showcases THE DEFECT’s innovative approach to rock music.

January 24 will see Swedish doom and hard rock maestros Avatarium release their much-awaited new studio offering Between You, God, the Devil and The Dead through AFM Records. After the doom rock collective already presented two first singles, ‘Long Black Waves’ and their haunting album title track, Avatarium are premiering a video clip for the hard-hitting, anthemic single ‘I See You Better In The Dark’. “This is one of my favorite songs on the album, a classic Dio/Sabbath uptempo rocker with some 60’s pop flavour.” Guitarist Marcus Jidell comments. “Sometimes we need a little poison to stay awake, or a spoonful of darkness to see the light”.

ARCTIS have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Tell Me Why’, is taken from the Finnish symphonic pop-metal band’s upcoming debut self-titled album, which is scheduled to be released in November this year, via Napalm Records. Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “we’re almost there. ‘Tell Me Why’ is the last echo before the ice shatters and the full force of ARCTIS is unleashed. Step into the cold, feel the frost creeping closer and let the shadows guide you. The album looms on the horizon… are you ready?” [via Distorted Sound]

SICKSENSE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Masquerade Parade’, is taken from the Phoenix-based nu-metal/groove metal band’s upcoming debut album, Cross Me Twice, which is scheduled to be released in February next year, via Arising Empire. Speaking about the new song, and its accompanying music video, vocalist Rob The Ripper says, “’Masquerade Parade’ critically takes aim at modern western health practices, the pharmaceutical industry and politicians. It’s also a warning to be careful of trusting the wrong people. In many cases, the people who claim to have your best interests, absolutely do not. Don’t be fooled by them. Film making wise, we wanted to tell a story that keeps moving forward from one scene into the other with intelligent transitions that utilized practical effects, acting and camera angles/movement. Much like watching an actual parade. The music video story features the characters of Vicky, Deli The Bear and myself as these kind of supernatural entities. Vicky’s character unleashes a villainous persona out of me by tinkering with an hourglass, then the real fun begins. I then go on to terrorize my other band mates throughout the video, while Vicky gradually brings each one of them out of the darkness by handing them their instruments. Being stronger together, they are able to defeat their common enemy…but the question is, was this enemy really the ‘bad guy’ to begin with, or did someone else create the problem in the first place, and conveniently set themselves up to appear to be the ‘hero’? We love incorporating multiple meanings into our lyrics and our storytelling. ‘Masquerade Parade’ takes you on a ride with twists and turns that catch you off guard and we hope it pleasantly surprises many people who check it out.” Vocalist Killer V adds, “my favorite part in the concept of the video is how our bandmates snap out of the condition they’re in when they are given their instruments. This entire video was put together through multiple brainstorming sessions and we were a little stuck on what the ‘revival’ action would be. I remember initially suggesting giving them their instruments as a joke, but the more we thought about it, the more it just made sense. Music heals and brings us together. It’s an escape for both musicians and fans of music, so in a way the perfect imagery for our message. One thing we always aim to do with SICKSENSE is incorporate a positive message through even our darkest songs. Also, the first two choruses are one continuous shot, so from a filming aspect that was really interesting and challenging for us to nail. It’s easy when you know you can piece together bits of different footage and make something cool out of it, but having to get everything right in one shot is a whole other experience. This is by far my favorite song and video that we’ve done to this day.” [via Distorted Sound]

The wickedly talented Kelowna-based teenage three-piece, Freeze The Fall – 17-year-old Quinn Mitzel (vox/guitar), 16-year-old Jonah Goncalves (drums), and 16-year-old Aria Becker (bass/vox) – release their hard-hitting new single ‘VHS’ via their newly inked label 604 Records. A captivating tribute to the realm of horror cinema, ‘VHS’ showcases mesmerizing melodies, commanding riffs and driving rhythms, interwoven with haunting lyrics and chilling choruses. “‘VHS’ is an ode to our collective love of horror movies,” shares the band. “The song explores the relentless evil that power can inspire. Ultimately we wrote this song for the music lovers who also love the genre of horror.” Alongside the single drop, Freeze The Fall have released the visually striking music video directed by Evan Riley Brown. The video for ‘VHS’, which premiered last weekend at the Vancouver Horror Show Film Festival, was filmed over two days in Lake Country and Kamloops, BC. Featuring a gripping narrative that parallels the song’s themes, the video for ‘VHS’ was a dream come true for the band as they have always wanted to make a video that pays homage to their love of horror.
Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit Arimea have announced their forthcoming debut EP Orchid Street, due for release on November 28. Sharing their most treasured work to date, the refreshingly raw quartet have used their staple nu-metal approach to create a unique record, that’s new and exciting but nostalgic all at the same time. To coincide with the announcement of their debut EP, Arimea have also shared a brand-new single from the record titled, ‘Deliver Me’. Acting as a departure from previous writing methods, ‘Deliver Me’ has seen Arimea adding more electronic elements to their creative process which has naturally evolved as they draw more from the late 90’s and early 2000’s bands that shaped their collective sound. On new single, ‘Deliver Me’, vocalist Whitney Cooper mentions, “’Deliver Me’ is a fun song that glamorises exorcisms and the unspoken role of a deliverance minister. After reading the book ‘Deliverance’ by Jason Bray, I was engulfed into a world that I thought was only real in movies. The book had such a hold on me, I have always been a believer in the supernatural from a very young age. ‘Deliver Me’ takes aspects of the book and twists them into a hollywood-esque exorcism, a picturesque scene bursting with horror and power. This is one of my favourite tracks on the EP.”

French modern metal act Pyrah is thrilled to announce the release of their latest video for the single ‘End Of The Slope,’ taken from the critically acclaimed album Veni Vidi Delevi, available now via Wormholedeath. Known for their powerful blend of aggressive riffs and emotionally charged lyrics, Pyrah delivers a fresh take on modern metal with a fierce, unmistakable edge. ‘End of the Slope’ takes you deep into the shadows of regret and emotional torment.
Luna Kills have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘slay ur enemies,’ is the brand new single from the Finnish alternative metalcore band and its release comes as the band sign with SharpTone Records. The new single was mixed and mastered by Jeff Dunne [MAKE THEM SUFFER, KNOCKED LOOSE, ICE NINE KILLS, DISTURBED]. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Lotta Ruutiainen shares, “’slay ur enemies’ describes an inner dialogue and feelings during a panic attack. Mostly the lyrics depict the hopelessness of those emotions, but also the will to fight & endure and survive this absolute nightmare. The song actually pretty much wrote itself right before we hit the studio. We listened to the demo in the middle of the night, thinking either we had all collectively lost our sanity, or the song was a fucking banger.” [via Distorted Sound]

German symphonic metal icons, Xandria, are about to chart new paths with their epic upcoming nine-track EP, Universal Tales, out on November 22 via Napalm Records. This EP follows the success of their latest top 10 charting album (German charts), The Wonders Still Awaiting (2023), which introduced an impressive new line up featuring the fantastic Ambre Vourvahis, who stuns audiences with her vocal talent that blends elements of rock grit, operatic highs and even growls. This fresh sounding masterpiece highlights Xandria’s reinvention by elevating their trademarks to a new level, setting the bar for modern symphonic metal while presenting four brand new majestic songs that showcase the band’s refined versatility and impressive intensity. Xandria unveils the new offering of the upcoming EP, ‘No Time To Live Forever’, together with a visually stunning official music video. Driving drums and fast-paced riffs underscore the dramatic lyrics of the apparent loss of reason in the world and the rise of chaos, while the five-piece aligns with their signature sound of impressive orchestral interludes and the majestic operatic highs of vocalist Ambre. Xandria on the new single ‘No Time To Live Forever’: “You already know ‘Universal’ from our upcoming EP, and after receiving such overwhelmingly positive feedback from you, it is now time for ‘No Time To Live Forever’. If you loved the bombastic choirs and operatic vocals in ‘Universal’, you are in for a treat with this one… prepare for a ride.” [via Brave New Words]

April Art’s latest single ‘Burn’ was released last week coinciding with the debut of its official music video. The track features on the band’s new album Rodeo, out now. ‘Burn’ delves into themes of inner turmoil and past trauma. The lyrics paint a picture of an individual grappling with haunting memories, feelings of betrayal, and a daily struggle against internal voices. The song’s narrative conveys a sense of isolation and ongoing emotional battles. [via Metal Cue]

Lacuna Coil are looking to take your breath away with their latest atmospheric single. With that in mind, it’s only fitting that the Italian metal veterans’ newest number is called ‘Oxygen.’ The new track follows the recent ‘Hoisting the Shadow’ collaboration with Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe, and it will be a part of the band’s newly confirmed tenth album, Sleepless Empire. This time around, vocal phenom Cristina Scabbia is handling the mic with elemental whimsy (“My breath is getting lighter/I float on crimson waters”) as the rest of the band leans into an outsized and epic arrangement. “‘Oxygen’ is a powerful exploration of emotional struggle and inner conflict,” Scabbia commented. “The lyrics convey a sense of drowning in a toxic environment… where attempts at salvation, represented by ‘oxygen’ are somehow futile. This song encapsulates the feeling of struggling to break free from what holds us down, when the journey is filled with difficulty. It’s a raw anthem of vulnerability, resilience and the courage to face what seems insurmountable.” As for the newly unveiled music video, which the band had been teasing on Instagram over the past week via a series of liquid-y snippets, it accordingly taps into that aqueous lyrical energy with dramatically plunging visuals and near-death experiences. Scabbia added that staying in the water through the shoot was “cathartic,” and you can drink in the visuals below. [via Revolver]

Lauren Babic has released her new single ‘Let It Die’. The track showcases Babic’s vocals alongside guitars by Adam Bentley, who also served as the mixing engineer. Lee Albrecht handled the mastering duties for the song. ‘Let It Die’ evolved from a demo originally titled ‘Hypermetal’ by Adam Bentley. Babic and Bentley collaborated to expand on this initial concept, incorporating a nu-metal inspired bridge into the final version. Lyrically, the song draws from Babic’s personal experiences, aiming to create a more intimate and relatable connection with listeners. [via Metal Cue]

After recently joining the Golden Robot Records roster, Militia Vox has officially released her latest single ‘Apocalypse,’ available to stream now everywhere. ‘Apocalypse’ is more than just a song – it’s an anthem of rebellion, warrior grit and fighting spirit for these turbulent times. With its gutsy vocals, hard groove guitars, synthy saxophones, and explosive energy, the track delivers a sonic experience that only Militia Vox can provide.

Oxford’s fast-rising nu-metal outfit Arimea have unveiled their brand-new single ‘Liminal’. Using their staple nu-metal approach of modulated guitars and DJ samples, the refreshingly raw quartet sonically take a dark and melancholic turn with ‘Liminal’. Exploring the lyrical context, bassist Joe Landles mentions, “I began writting lyrics written one late night while researching the occultist Alestair Crowley, eroto-comatose lucidity and the philosophies surrounding them”. Diving deeper on the inspiration behind some particularly visceral lyrical content, Joe reflects that “I wanted to bring those captivating elements of Crowley’s beliefs very much to the forefront. Let’s be honest, there’s always a perverse intrigue into the less family friendly practices of the occult, those that address sexuality and attempts to talk a higher power as we do in LIMINAL.”

Get ready to experience a dose of unapologetic strength and biting satire as female-fronted cinemetal sensations Ammify unveil their latest music video, ‘Involuntarily Celibate,’ a track from their critically acclaimed album, Lost, Not Hiding, released via Wormholedeath. ‘Involuntarily Celibate’ takes a sharp, satirical look at how kindness can sometimes be misunderstood or even manipulated and the misunderstanding can lead to unrealistic expectations. It also underscores the importance of respecting boundaries and not assuming that kindness is a transactional gesture. The music video enriches the song’s themes by using the metaphor of superheroines to emphasize empowerment, boundary-setting, and resistance against entitlement. It turns the song’s satirical critique into a visual celebration of strength and self-respect.

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have announced a new album. Titled Galvanize, the upcoming album from the German modern metal band is the follow-up to 2022’s self-titled album, and is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement of the new album, LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; the title track ‘Galvanize’. The new song is the second single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from ‘My Hate Will Go On’, which was released back in April. Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “life has its own inexplicable rules, and it feels like the world is on the verge of destruction. Each individual existence is vested with chains and challenges. Life sometimes seems like a video game – but it’s not, this is real! With the song ‘Galvanize,’ we want to encourage everyone to have the audacity to break free from what holds you back. Fight for the right thing, make a change and become the best version of yourself. Don’t let your life pass by. Be brave and take action – now is the time to ‘Galvanize’.” [via Distorted Sound]

CHARLOTTE WESSELS has released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘The Crying Room,’ is taken from the former DELAIN vocalist’s upcoming new album, The Obsession, which is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Napalm Records. Speaking about the new single, Wessels says, “when we were gearing up for the very first performance under my own name after Covid, my tour manager asked if I wanted my own dressing room. Knowing full well that I’d be an anxious mess, I told her I didn’t need a private room – just somewhere I could have a well-earned meltdown without ruining everyone’s vibe. And that, my friends, is how ‘The Crying Room’ was born. It’s a song about the fear of failure, about needing to catch your breath before diving headfirst into something new. Everyone loves to tell stories about courage and heroism, but let’s be real: I want to hear more stories about people who are absolutely terrified… and do the thing anyway – it’s a central theme on the album, and ‘The Crying Room’ is an invitation to do just that.” [via Distorted Sound]

Swiss/German modern metal frontrunners, Ad Infinitum, make a stand by releasing their next staggering offering and new single ‘Surrender’. The track is taken from their upcoming album, Abyss, due for release on October 11 via Napalm Records. On Abyss, the international four-piece are redefining their sound, making it their most dynamic, modern and progressive record to date. ‘Surrender’ beams with shimmering soundscapes, eruptive breakdowns and a celestial vocal attack by singer Melissa Bonny, ranging from stellar clear singing to harsh and aggressive growls. Ad Infinitum on ‘Surrender’: “‘Surrender’ is the song we’ve been waiting to release since the moment we created it. It’s just us doing our thing without any boundaries, boxes, or outsider expectations – unapologetically. The song is paired with a music video that crosses over into another form of art, perfectly fitting the mood. We are excited to hear how people will receive it!” [via Metal Planet]

Approaching the 10 year anniversary of Fury’s debut album The Lightning Dream, the band have demonstrated their evolution with a new recording of a live favourite ‘Prince of Darkness’. Since 2017, the lineup of Fury has been slowly morphing into something new – now with bassist Becky Baldwin (Mercyful Fate), drummer Tom Fenn and lead guitarist Tom Atkinson (Vice) replacing previous members. But the most impactful shift to the band’s new sound is the addition of vocalist Nyah Ifill. Fury are currently working on their fifth studio album, with the release anticipated for Spring 2025. Nyah Ifill comments on her move from guest session musician to a permanent position: “As a newer band member, I’ve felt so welcomed by the fans and I’m excited to share some lead vocals! While I haven’t been a part of Fury during the Lightning dream era, I’ve admired the driving force of the songs and massively enjoy playing them live. It isn’t often that bands re-visit older material, and I hope that it’s a treat for the long-time fans! Re-recording ‘Prince of Darkness’ in the lead vocalist position has been a great experience, and I’m having a blast! It’s a send-off to our old friend the devil, and the hell-themed era of Born to Sin. The new album’s recorded, and it’s going to blow you away!”

April Art presents the fourth single ‘Not Afraid’ from upcoming album Rodeo. The official video clip for the song was shot in the band’s own rehearsal room and was once more produced by drummer Ben Juelg. The band comments: “’Not Afraid’ is intended to encourage people to face their fears. We all have fears and often let them hold us back and prevent us from coming into our own. But it is worth looking fear in the eye, going through it and then emerging stronger and more self-confident than ever before. We only have this one precious life and it is worth fighting for it.” [via Metal Heads Forever]
