Lead single ‘What’s The Movie’ arrives together with a music video shot in Siem Reap (Cambodia) by Heyner Hernandez, during one of the trips around the world Ayelle took while finishing the LP.

Speaking about the writing process behind Shadowselflove, she explains: “I wanted to create a safe space for processing difficult emotions, which is what these songs have been for me. I wrote them during a period of my life where I was doing a lot of shadow work and recognizing tender and weary parts of myself, along with limiting beliefs and things that needed to change in my life. I implemented a lot of changes after writing these songs, and the continuation of this healing journey is chronicled in Part 2 of this exploration, set to release next year.”

The release delivers a sincere reflection and insight, triggering emotions of intense longing coupled with equal parts doubt and hope, themes that are present throughout her upcoming body of work shadowselfluv – a space for merging shadow work with self love.

Speaking about the song, She explains: “I wrote it about learning to set boundaries in relationships and redefining what it means to be a girlfriend. I think there’s a lot of toxic behaviors in modern dating that some people accept and impose on each other as the norm when they can actually be pretty harmful.”

Speaking about her new release, she says: “I wrote ‘Get Away’ from a place of frustration about the repeating patterns in my life and how I can’t ever seem to stay in one place. It actually started out as a letter to the music industry and the way I’d been pouring myself into my work yet feeling like it was never enough, then those feelings merged with that of a recent break up and I realised that I sometimes feel similarly about my romantic relationships as I have with the music industry – like I’m pouring all of my energy into something or someone until I reach a breaking point and have to step away from it all, or continue forward in a new direction, in search of replenishing my energy and restoring balance to my life.”

The song was written in Stockholm with Kerstin Ljungström (producer) and Amanda Börjeson (co-writer). The artwork is inspired by the queen of cups tarot card, which is about mastering ones emotions.

Speaking about the song, she says: “I wrote ‘Breaking & Healing’ as I was coming to terms with the concept that healing isn’t linear. I was getting frustrated with myself because it felt as if I was always taking one step forward and two steps back. This song became a space for me to channel that frustration into acceptance, and it was the start of a journey towards more self-compassion. Some wounds will resurface and require healing over and over again, and it’s impossible to bubble wrap yourself against further pain. I’d rather lean into it and experience everything fully.”
