Italian modern metal act Secret Rule unveil their powerful new single ‘Silent Pain’, the third track taken from their upcoming tenth studio album X, due out on October 24 via Rockshots Records.

Following the energetic ‘Just a Sacrifice’ and the evocative ‘Echoes of the Earth’, ‘Silent Pain’ dives into the emotional terrain of hidden suffering. With haunting melodies, cinematic arrangements and raw, confessional lyrics, the song captures the invisible battles we fight behind closed doors—where pain is masked by silence and strength is found in vulnerability.

“‘Silent Pain’ is a song I deeply connect with—it’s about giving a voice to emotions we often keep buried. Singing it felt like releasing something I had been holding in for years”, shares vocalist and lyricist Angela Di Vincenzo.

Musically, the track merges heavy grooves with fragile atmospheres, reflecting the duality of emotional turmoil and healing. Guitarist and producer Andy Menario explains: “I wanted the guitars to echo the internal chaos and quiet desperation behind the lyrics—sometimes heavy, sometimes fragile, just like the human mind.”

Megg Jacobs dives even deeper into the brutal emotional terrain first explored in her previous single ‘ego’ with the release of its companion track, ‘DEATH,’ a volatile meditation on all-or-nothing thinking, illusion, and the chaos that follows the rejection of nuance.

“‘DEATH’ is about the fallout of denying that middle space,” Megg Jacobs shares. “It’s the exhaustion that comes from clinging to black-and-white thinking while everything around you demands complexity.” With her signature fusion of thunderous drums, guttural vocals, and emotionally layered lyrics, Jacobs crafts a deep atmosphere that is as aggressive as it is vulnerable. She describes the track as being stuck in a loop, between glitter in the dirt and dirt in the glitter. One is rot masked by beauty, the other corruption masked by sparkle. “Neither is honest,” she explains. “Both are masks we wear to avoid nuance: the real discomfort of being human.” The new single builds on the themes of ego death and transformation first introduced in ‘ego,’ capturing the psychological wear-and-tear that results from resisting the complicated truths of being alive.

Renowned J-Metal group, BABYMETAL have released their highly anticipated new album METAL FORTH via Capitol Records. Along with the release, the group put out a new music video for their explosive track ‘My Queen’ (feat. Spiritbox).

Hotly-tipped Floridian quintet, Not Enough Space have released their powerful new single ‘Don’t Let Go,’ the latest offering from their forthcoming debut full-length album Weaponize Your Rage, set for release on September 12 via Thriller Records.

‘Don’t Let Go’ confronts the desperate beauty of clinging to hope when everything else is unraveling. With soaring emotion and crushing intensity, the track is a poignant showcase of the band’s ability to fuse raw vulnerability with unrelenting force.

“‘Don’t Let Go,’ captures the experience of facing struggles and hardships together with your partner,” Not Enough Space explains. “It highlights the importance of holding on through difficult times and not losing sight of each other. Blending soft, somber moments with bursts of energy and intensity, the song reflects the emotional depth of embracing both the highs and lows of love.”

Brighton’s self-defined ‘Brat Metal’ trio Eville, made up of singer/guitarist Eva Sheldrake, bassist/singer/producer Jude Richards, and drummer Milo Hemsley, have announced their debut EP BRAT METAL, set for release on October 17. The announcement is made ahead of the band’s hotly-anticipated appearance at this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival.

Leading the charge is new single ‘BR4T MBL’ (pronounced brat mobile), a high-octane anthem inspired by Fast & Furious, Need for Speed, and the hyper-feminine aesthetics of Y2K icons like Paris Hilton. The track is packed with car-themed wordplay – with each line in the first verse shifting gears, from “FIRST off the line, you’re a SECOND too late” and beyond – delivering an empowering message that firmly puts women in the driver’s seat. The bold, glossy video brings the concept to life in full throttle.

Speaking of the track, vocalist Eva Sheldrake shares, “We wanted to write an empowering song that puts women in the driver’s seat for a change.”

Portland’s Dying Wish specialize in a particularly brutal form of metalcore. Emma Boster can actually sing when she isn’t bringing the hellfire beast-roars, and the band really steers into that ability on their new song ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around,’ the lead single from the upcoming LP Flesh Stays Together. The heavy parts feel heavier because of the ominous beauty in Boster’s voice, and when the breakdown comes in, they bring it.

Flesh Stays Together follows Dying Wish’s 2023 album Symptoms Of Survival, as well as ‘I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair),’ the one-off single that came out earlier this year. Dying Wish recorded Flesh Stays Together with Knocked Loose collaborator Will Putney, and ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ has a lot of that band’s sincere guttural lurch. Dying Wish already tour big rooms, but if the rest of the record sounds like this, I could see them following Knocked Loose into even bigger ones.

Dying Wish member Pedro Carrillo co-directed the ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ video with Eric Richter, and it’s got all the bloody theatricality that you’d hope.

Finnish heavy metal powerhouse BATTLE BEAST continues their unstoppable rise with the release of their brand-new single and music video ‘Here We Are‘. With this new single, the band officially announces their highly anticipated seventh studio album Steelbound, set to be released on October 17 via Nuclear Blast.

‘Here We Are‘ marks the third single taken from Steelbound, and it’s a bold, unapologetic anthem of resilience and unity. Armed with thunderous riffs, powerful vocals, and infectious hooks, the song captures the spirit of overcoming adversity and standing strong together.

Song writer Joona Björkroth comments: “‘Here We Are’ captures that moment after the storm has passed — you’ve faced challenges, been tested, and somehow come through the other side a little stronger, a bit wiser, and perhaps a bit more grounded. Things might not have gone perfectly, but you’ve endured. The song is a tribute to perseverance and resilience — to standing tall just the way you are, nothing more, nothing less.”

Noora Louhimo adds: “We’ve all been down in the depths – each of us and all of us together. Still we’ve always gotten back up, even if bruised and bloodied. And here we are still, stronger than ever. No matter how tough the journey, we’re always stronger when we face it together”

The track is paired with a stunning music video that brings its message to life in true BATTLE BEAST fashion: dramatic, powerful, and visually striking.

UK metal outfit CAGE FIGHT have released a brand new single. Titled ‘IHYG (I Hate Your Guts)’, the new track marks the band’s first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album, which was released back in May 2022, via Candlelight Records. The song features deeply personal lyrics from vocalist Rachel Aspe, detailing a bleak and traumatic experience. The new music video was directed by Shaun Hodson (Loki Films).

Speaking about the new song, vocalist Rachel Aspe says, “’IHYG‘is a response to a deeply traumatic experience that had a life changing impact on me. It crushed my confidence and self-worth which spiralled me to rock bottom, but I’ve become stronger and more resilient than ever. This experience inspired me to write lyrics for the first time, resulting in this song. The video tells this story.”

Guitarist James Monteith adds, “since the release of our debut album we’ve been through some changes and significantly evolved as a unit. We’ve gotten to know each other much more musically and personally, and the result is a much more honed vision of CAGE FIGHT. IHYG is the first taste of what’s to come. We’re also excited to finally release new music with our new bassist Will Horsman.”

Face Yourself have unleashed vicious single ‘Fractures’, taken from their upcoming EP Fury. With the full EP set to arrive on September 26 via Sumerian Records, the track dissects the violence of beauty standards and self-hatred.

Speaking on ‘Fractures’, vocalist Yasmine Liverneaux has shared: “We are excited to release our new single ‘Fractures’ produced by Joey Sturgis. The lyrics explore a darker theme, as it speaks a lot about self hatred, exploring the pressure of beauty standards and the “mutilations” those pressures can lead someone to. It’s like changing your appearance so much to fit a mould to the point that you don’t even recognise yourself which can be very violent.”

Noumenia are a post-groove metal band from Northern Italy, who have crafted a soul-striking explosive sound that hits you square in the face, the mind, and the soul! Fronted by their powerfully-charismatic vocalist Vivian Black, the band just premiered another new music video, entitled ‘Black Ocean’ which was directed by Steve Saints (Genus Ordinis Dei). ‘Fall Apart’ is the third music video from their new full-length album Echoes which was just released on June 27 via Eclipse Records.

‘Black Ocean’ is a beautiful nightmare with a futuristic groove drowning and pounding like thunderheads caught in a flood in a canyon. Here, the multi-layered growl vocal is emblematically effective, as the higher pitch is our fear and folly and the lower ones, our darkness and malice. “With the video for ‘Black Ocean’ we plunge into the abyss of our unconscious… into our shadow part, into a black-out of mental and emotional collapse.” Says vocalist Vivian Black. “The song speaks of the innermost desire to know that there can be someone to shake your hand to pull you out of this abyss, out of this black ocean. We chose scenes for the video that could represent this mood in a dreamlike way. Same goes for the choice to make the video in black and white. As for the lights we wanted to give the feeling of lightning, of the storm inside us.”

Chicago rockers, Ignescent, are pleased to share their new single, ‘He Came, He Saw, He Conquered’, out now via Frontiers Music Srl.

Lead singer Jennifer Benson commented on the track: “It was an honor to remake this song by such a legendary Christian Rock band, Petra. When I was a teenager, I decided to follow Jesus and since then it has been a calling on my life to share His love through music. I am very thankful to be able to do that and to be a part of this band”.

“We’ve been inspired by bands like Skillet, Flyleaf, and Stryper. God has done so much for us and continues to make a way when there seems to be no way”, she added.

UK-based alt-metal artist, creative visionary, and supernatural storyteller Brocarde unveils a bold new music video for ‘Last Supper (Reheated Radio Edit),’ a darkly theatrical exploration of self-image, fame, and the fragility of the human psyche. Framed through a surreal, fairytale-inspired lens, the video follows Brocarde as she’s lured, captured, and caged by an army of grotesque pigs — a twisted metaphor for society’s obsession with vanity and validation. The story builds to a powerful reversal, with Brocarde reclaiming her agency and hosting a lavish, haunting dinner party she calls “a vegan dream.”

‘Last Supper’ blends satirical commentary with biblical references, asking viewers to consider: What would you consume at your final feast, self-indulgence or the arms of your mother? The track explores the tension between personal values and societal influence, posing tough questions about where we place our worth in a world consumed by screens and status. “Sometimes it’s seemingly impossible to escape popular culture,” says Brocarde. “With maturity, I’ve learned to reflect on it, embrace it, and challenge it with my voice.”

Italian symphonic metal band HYPERSONIC push their sound to new extremes with the release of their latest single ‘You Bastard’, featuring the devastating vocals of Francesco Paoli, frontman of extreme symphonic death metal titans Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Taken from the band’s acclaimed third album Kaosmogonia, ‘You Bastard’ is one of the heaviest and most emotionally charged tracks of the record. Musically, it delivers a relentless barrage of blast beats, crushing guitars, dramatic orchestration and male choir vocals recorded by the prestigious Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania (Italy). The song dives deep into themes of rage, justice, and despair, portraying a father’s fury and anguish over the violation of his child’s innocence.

The lyrics, written by Emanuele Gangemi, carry a raw emotional intensity, mirrored by the extreme and symphonic arrangements crafted by band founder and drummer Salvo Grasso. The duet between Francesco Paoli and Eleonora Russo brings an explosive contrast between fury and fragility.

Hypersonic comment: “This song is pure chaos and fire. We imagined a desperate and furious father speaking directly to a monster, full of pain, anger, and madness. Having Francesco on vocals was the perfect way to translate that extreme emotional charge into music.”

BABYMETAL release their explosive new single ‘Kon! Kon’ featuring Bloodywood. This is the fifth single off their upcoming album METAL FORTH out on August 8 via Capitol Records. They also put out an accompanying music video for the song, filmed at their show at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, that showcases their high-octane performance with Bloodywood.

As postmodern society crumbles, Texas four-piece Die Spitz combine their passion, friendship, identity, and artistry to fight against the inescapable decay that surrounds life on their debut album, Something to Consume, due September 12 via Third Man Records. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming”, Ellie Livingston says. And as the band trade off instruments, swapping songwriting and vocal duties, and generating powerful songwriting in concussive bursts, Die Spitz have created their own little pocket of the world where we can all stand on the edge together.

The Austinites express their ideas through a blend of classic punk, hardcore, metal, alt rock and more. The group have become known for their riotous live shows, where duelling cartwheels, climbing of rafters and solos while crowdsurfing could happen at any moment. “Something to Consume is an album experience for everyone. Whether you’re craving a smack of lively metal or a melancholy wave of grungey violin, there’s a piece of all of us injected. Something to Consume is a call to the multitudes of ways we as humans allow consumption to enrapture our culture as well as ourselves.”

That shapeshifting strength comes into full view on the explosive lead single ‘Throw Yourself to the Sword’, released alongside a video by Emily Sanchez.

“’Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is a high energy ode to what we want young people to feel. There’s a lot of existentialism and despair in other songs on the album that still sheath the same theme, but Throw Yourself to the Sword is the raise of optimism. Despite living in a state of mundanity or hopelessness, you can still rise up and fight the unknown, as long as you’re willing to throw yourself to it,” Ellie Livingston explains.

Coming off the recent release of their self-titled vinyl EP, much-hyped Floridian quintet Not Enough Space are now set to deliver their first-ever full-length: Weaponize Your Rage. To help promote the LP, the band have unleashed an incendiary metalcore-to-pop-blurring cut called ‘New Age Cannibal.’

The song is described by the act as one of the “most cutthroat and experimental tracks on the album.” It begins with low and trappily pitch-shifted vocals, surges into djent-pressed guitar bombast, and then ultimately finds co-vocalists Lizzie Raatma and Liv Mitchell trading off on a series of lines about “tearing through the scene” and ripping ”your fucking spine out like a flesh filet.”

“With its dramatic flair and dark undertones, we used the setting of a post-apocalyptic vibe to express the metaphor that we know we are the young, new band, with every intention to make it to the top in a dog-eat-dog industry,” the band explained in a joint statement, adding of the song’s creation, “The creative process was especially unique, as we had the opportunity to collaborate with influential producer Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, Avril Lavigne), whose influence helped elevate the track to an entirely new level.”

LIVING DEAD GIRL is the modern metal band created by visionary frontwoman Molly Rennick. Seamlessly blending elements of metal, goth, and pop-punk, the band has created a distinct sound all their own, accompanied by haunting visuals, and upbeat music videos, all of which come from the imagination of Rennick herself. It’s dark, it’s brooding, and it draws you in.

Today, Living Dead Girl announce their new album CONSPIRACY, appropriately arriving on October 10. The band has just shared the new single ‘Poison Me.’

Rennick says that the new single “is the first taste of the new era of Living Dead Girl. It’s a dark, emotional song about how someone’s toxicity can drain the life out of you. I think everyone has that person in their lives and will see themselves in the exasperation of the lyrics — we have all had to navigate complicated relationships and this song embodies the emotions that come with it.”

Cleveland-based doom metal outfit Frayle has returned with a chilling new single, ‘Walking Wounded,’ marking the start of a powerful new chapter for the band in 2025. Released via Napalm Records, the track arrives alongside a visually stunning and eerie official music video.

‘Walking Wounded’ showcases Frayle’s signature blend of crushing riffs and ethereal atmospherics, building a dense, whispering wall of sound led by frontwoman Gwyn Strang’s haunting vocal performance. It’s an emotionally charged offering — both delicate and devastating — hinting at what’s to come as the band gears up for a prolific year ahead.

When asked to describe the song’s themes, Frayle cited a poignant quote from acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie: “We teach girls to shrink themselves, to make themselves smaller. We say to girls, you can have ambition but not too much. You should aim to be successful but not too successful. Otherwise you would threaten the man.”

Ignescent are thrilled to share their new single ‘Goodbye’, coinciding with the announcement of the deluxe edition of their debut album, Fight In Me, available digitally on July 26 via Frontiers Music Srl. About the track, Jennifer Benson says: “Stoked to release our new song. It was awesome working with Jasen Moreno formerly of Drowning Pool, Lethal City, and Billy Grey of Fozzy. Paul Lapinski at My Platinum Sound, who has worked with Columbia Records, Warner Brothers, and bands like The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, produced ‘Goodbye’. So grateful they were all a part of this.”

Finnish rock sensations Ginger Evil are thrilled to share their new single, ‘Shame Old’, via Frontiers Music Srl. Speaking about the track, vocalist Ella Tepponen says: “’Shame Old’ is a song about mental health; it’s about coping with the cycle of shame, that can be a destructive and paralysing pattern to a persons life. How to break free of the fear of abandonment that is after all, so deeply woven into our DNA.” Tomi Julkunen and Veli Palevaara add: “This song presents the heavier side of album, as the guitar and bass are both tuned to drop D. It has rhythmically interesting arrangement that gives another kind of twist. This song was a load of fun to play in the studio. Will be even more fun to play it in front of huge festival audience!”

BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy have joined forces for the new collaborative song ‘RATATATA.’ The collab pairs two of the most prominent practitioners of “dance metal” and lives up to its billing. Tech-y metal riffs are infused into a pulsing EDM beat, over which BABYMETAL and Electric Callboy share vocal duties — the former handling the higher melodies and the latter providing the gutturals and metalcore vox. “Unbeatable!” exclaimed BABYMETAL in the press announcement for the song. “Let’s ‘Fu Fu’ together with RATATATA.” Enthused Electric Callboy: “Working with BABYMETAL was so much fun. We joined our creative forces and, in the end, we brought together the best of both worlds. We love ‘RATATATA’!” [via Consequence]

Japanese metal band BRIDEAR have announced their new album Born Again out June 28 via Psychomanteum Records. Marking the announcement the band have released a video for the powerful lead track ‘Still Burning’. With pounding drums, incendiary guitars and ferocious growls, all alongside an infectious anthemic chorus, BRIDEAR deliver a scorching first taste of the upcoming record. The quintet from Fukuoka, Japan jetted out to Gothenburg, Sweden to record their sixth studio album with the legendary metal producer Fredrik Nordström (In Flames, At the Gates, HammerFall, Bring me the Horizon) at Studio Fredman. The video for ‘Still Burning’ was also filmed in Gothenburg and gives a taste of their epic live performances, captured by Patric Ullaeus (Amaranthe, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy).
DEFENCES have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Gold In The Dark’, is the brand new single from the Hertfordshire-based alternative metal band and follows on from their previous single, ‘The Curse’, which was released last month. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Cherry Duesbury says, “I started reading, researching and practising the concept of shadow work during the lockdown years. I realised there were parts of myself I was actively ignoring and pushing down, and it was contributing to why I was feeling so stunted, unhappy in myself and who I was in various ways. Coming across this concept and reading about the psychology behind it – which I’ve always been fascinated by and studied in school for a while – was really eye-opening and inspiring for me. These are some of my favourite lyrics I’ve ever written! And the ideas in this song sparked so much inspiration for this era of our band and the themes we explored, lyrically, musically and visually.” [via Distorted Sound]

We’ve finally got the first taste of Nightwish‘s upcoming record Yesterwynde, and the track – titled ‘Perfume Of The Timeless’ and clocking at 8:27 minutes – sounds like classic Nightwish through and through. Speaking to Kerrang! magazine about the song, keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen revealed: “When we had the first meeting with Nuclear Blast, talking about the new album and singles, I told them the first single will be a song called ‘Perfume Of The Timeless’ and it’s eight and a half minutes long and the chorus comes in at 3:30. And they were, like, ‘Perfect!’ I think that has to do with the fact that we have a long legacy. You know, we can do whatever we want, and I do, but it says something that we can do that when I heard that for Spotify it’s good to have the vocals start after 15 seconds, or people skip it; they don’t have the attention span anymore.” “You are the result of an unbroken chain of millions of ancestors and their loves. ‘Perfume Of The Timeless’ reminds us all of this amazing fact. And if you’re not amazed, listen to it again, because it’s important.” said the band about the single. [via Metal Injection]

Nashville’s Royale Lynn has just released her new single and music video, ‘Death Wish,’ via Epitaph Records. Leaning into her heavy side, the track features a guest appearance from Danny Worsnop of Asking Alexandria, and is an ode to first responders around the world. Warch the new video, directed by Dylan Hryciuk (Spiritbox, Brand Of Sacrifice) and created with the help of a firefighting academy in Canada. Royale set out to visually depict the emotional and physical perils of real-life firefighters and their loved ones. She explains, “After writing the song I had a very specific vision for the video and knew it had to be perfect. Working with Dylan really helped bring everything together and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! This one goes out to all the first responders out there! “’Death Wish’ means a lot to me; it represents the next chapter of my life and my sound moving forward,” Royale continues. “I’m also very excited to have my buddy Danny Worsnop on the track. He brings the whole vision to life with his amazing vocals.” [via Ghost Cult Mag]

Dark alternative metal outfit Crimson Veil has emerged from the shadows with their debut single, ‘Flinch.’ The track serves as a nice little preview of what’s to come on their upcoming album, Hex, set to be unleashed on September 20 via Reigning Phoenix Music. Vocalist aesthete Mishkin Fitzgerald comments about the track saying: “‘Flinch’ is about the end of the world. As humanity, we are careening into a mass extinction due to our own choices and a lot of the time it feels like there is nothing that will stop it.” [via Folk N Rock]

Filth is Eternal have unleashed their driving, immediate new single ‘Pressure Me’. Friction from opposing forces informs the lyrics on their forthcoming album, Find Out – the title of which could infer emergence from trauma or consequential learning. Regardless of its intended meaning, the title is used as a conduit for the band to push toward positive strides when addressing mental health, addiction, and relationships, with community as a salve. Of ‘Pressure Me’, frontperson Lis Di Angelo explains, “Growth and change can be uncomfortable, even painful, at times. We’re afraid of sharing our misery with others but allowing others in can help us gain perspective to see our current situation in a new light. ‘Pressure Me’ is a roadmap of nonlinear progress. It’s an acknowledgment that sometimes, whether we want to admit it or not, we need the pressure of honest discourse, especially if we mean to figure out the world we’ve built and discover the root of our problems.”

Svalbard have released a video for brand-new single ‘How To Swim Down’, the latest cut from their upcoming album The Weight Of The Mask. Featuring full-clean vocals from Serena Cherry and a violin performance from guirarist Liam Phelan, it’s something a little bit different from the Bristolian metallers. “This song is about the exquisite pain and sorrowful beauty of unrequited love,” says Serena. “I think it’s the saddest, most heartbreaking song we’ve ever written. Lyrically, the starting point of the verse is about concealment of adoration, before the chorus gives way to realising and accepting a fate of loving someone quietly from afar. “I cannot watch the music video for ‘How To Swim Down’ without crying,” she continues, adding that video creator Boy Tillkens “has captured the bittersweet emotion of the song so delicately, it’s an incredibly moving piece of animation to watch. “Musically, ‘How To Swim Down’ saw us dive into uncharted waters with Liam adding many layers of mournful violin parts onto the track. Finally, violins – for the first time in Svalbard history! It feels so exciting to have new instruments on a song. Another first is that How To Swim Down features only clean vocals, no screams. I wanted the vocal delivery of these lyrics to feel as though I’m whispering a secret to someone whilst they’re sleeping. My vocals here represent that lonely type of communication, singing to yourself in an empty house. It’s a private, selfless love song, where only the listener knows of my heartache.” [via Kerrang]

Death Dealer Union are back with a second single from their debut album, Initiation. The band, who are fronted by Elena “Lena Scissorhands” Cataraga of Infected Rain fame, lined up the song ‘The Integument’ as the latest to surface online from that effort. An official music video for it was shot with Vicente Cordero (Cradle Of Filth, Filter) and features the talents of members of the Cherry Bombs. The band stated: “We are proud to present to the world and our fans ‘The Integument‘! Thanks to the amazing Cherry Bombs and Alicia Taylor for lending their unmatched talents to our visual spectacle!” [via The PRP]

As described on BABYMETAL’s website, the new song “incorporates both traditional J-RAP and Tom Morello’s legendary, phenomenal guitar playing.” The accompanying music video features the three members of BABYMETAL — SU-METAL, MOAMETAL, and MOMOMETAL — dancing and performing the song, with Morello appearing at the 2:15 mark to rock his minute-long guitar part that ends the tune.
Rising modern symphonic metal stars, Ad Infinitum, are breaking in with their mesmerizing new single, ‘Seth’, exceeding all expectations and heating up the excitement for their electrifying new studio album, Chapter III – Downfall, out March 31 via Napalm Records, once more. The new hit ‘Seth’ creates a heavy presence with distorted guitars crushing a groovy riff, charging into a captivating chorus with Melissa Bonny at lead singing a beautifully triumphant melody. This song’s resounding modern sound and eerie ambience will have new fans turning heads, all emphasized by an accompanying bombastic video. Says the band: “Today we unveil one more piece of our upcoming album Chapter III – Downfall. A song about Seth, the god of chaos and destruction, about jealousy, ambition, betrayal, treason and illusions. And eventually about justice and resolution. All this served with heavy riffs and a beautiful video by Vincent De Fallois. Enjoy!” [via Brave Words]

BABYMETAL have shared the new single ‘Metal Kingdom’ from their forthcoming concept album THE OTHER ONE, out March 24. Each of the albums 10 tracks represent a theme based on “10 separate parallel worlds” discovered in “THE OTHER ONE restoration project,” during which BABYMETAL were “recovered within the virtual ‘METALVERSE.’” As the third single we’ve heard from the album, ‘Metal Kingdom’ sheds further light on this complex narrative. “One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is THRONE and this 3rd single centers around this theme,” the band’s press release elaborates. “It is a powerful anthem ushering in the beginning of a new era while also representing the power and courage to step forward into uncharted territory. The track conveys imagery of one rising powerfully from the throne of silence, with a suitable fanfare announcing this new beginning.” It reads like the plot to a sci-fi movie or video game, and “Metal Kingdom’ has a particularly cinematic quality to it, in that the song sounds like a film score with its soaring arrangement, rich sonic production, and cathartic vocals from the BABYMETAL duo.
Daedric is starting off 2023 with a bang, reuniting with acclaimed producer Joey Sturgis to drop a brutal alt-metal single ‘Alchemy.’ Savage from the get-go ‘Alchemy’ wastes no time jumping in with industrial guitars laced over a ferocious but captivating vocal performance from frontwoman Kristyn Hope. Mixing screams with atmospheric vocals The single performs a delicate dance between ethereal and ominous, delicate and harsh. Drawing from a wide variety of genres including metalcore, electronic and industrial ‘Alchemy’ establishes Daedric’s incredible versatility. “The team was excited to experiment with more screams and gritty vocals on ‘Alchemy,’” explains Daedric. “We really tested some vocal limits and that gave us some great moments during production.” [via Outburn]

Entheos, the duo of vocalist Chaney Crabb and multi-instrumentalist Navene Koperweis, has finally announces their new record Time Will Take Us All for March 3. The album features ex-Entheos bassist Evan Brewer, who hasn’t rejoined the band but did contribute a boatload of killer low end. The band is now streaming the sludgy new single ‘I Am The Void’ alongside a music video done up by the seemingly ever-present My Good Eye Visuals. [via Metal Injection]

San Francisco doom vets, Acid King, are returning later this year with their first full-length since 2015. Titled Beyond Vision, the band helmed by low-and-slow maestro, Lori S., are billing the new LP as their most psychedelic yet, and judging by the sound of its expansive lead single, ‘Destination Psych/Beyond Vision’ fans are in for a helluva trip with this collection. The near-eight-minute single taps into the hazy, muffled churn that they helped pioneer throughout the Nineties, but there’s an added dose of trippiness in the way the specter-like vocals float in the mix, and the dual guitar/bass solo that closes out the tune is more bluesy than bashing. “The band was never really that psychedelic, but this is definitely more trippy because we’ve got keyboards and synthesizers,” Lori said of the new record’s sound. “That’s something we’ve never had before on Acid King records. The songs really have no beginning or ending—they all just flow into each other. It’s meant to be listened to as one piece. The whole point was to have the listener feel like they’re on a journey. If you put headphones on, it’ll take you to whatever places you’d like to go to.” [via Revolver]

Canadian melodic power thrashers Triskelyon will be unleashing their debut album Downfall on October 28 via Washington state-based extreme metal label Moribund Records. Now, the band presents their latest music video for the single ‘Balance of Terror’. The song features vocals from Amanda Marie Jackman (Category VI). Band founder Geoff Waye explains the track: “‘Balance of Terror’ is primarily a nod to the best classic Star Trek episode (Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 1, Episode 14). It’s also about the balance of power that has been built up over the decades. The music video was filmed along the coastline in the area of Cape Spear Newfoundland. There’s a couple of shots from with the large guns that were a part of Newfoundland’s coastal defense during WWII.”

Look up to the sky to see the ‘Burning Horizon’, the next music video for the third single from Italian progressive avant-garde metal MindAheaD in support of their sophomore story album 6119 Part 1 being released via Rockshots Records on October 28. The band adds about the track: “‘Burning Horizon’ is direct and catchy both melodically and structurally; it focuses on the voices that intersect and duet, sometimes harmoniously, sometimes aggressively opposing each other. The instrumental part is articulate, but always keeping an eye on melody and easy assimilation. The orchestrations also play an important role, providing a backdrop to the burned horizon that will turn into a desert very soon.”

BABYMETAL have shared ‘Divine Attack – Shingeki,’ the lead single from their forthcoming concept album, THE OTHER ONE, arriving March 23. The song breaks new ground for BABYMETAL, forgoing the dance-centric metal style of the group’s prior work for a heavier, post-hardcore approach. It marks the first new music from BABYMETAL since the 2020 single ‘BxMxC.’ The track also serves an introduction to the new album’s ambitious concept, which reads more like a science-fiction film plot rather than a thematic collection of songs. As the press release tells it, BABYMETAL were “sealed” from the world after a 10-year journey and were finally recovered within the virtual “METALVERSE” in April 2022 via “THE OTHER ONE restoration project.” A total of 10 songs were discovered within the restoration project, each “representing a unique theme based on 10 separate parallel worlds.” One of the worlds is dubbed “CAVALRY,” which ‘Divine Attack – Shingeki’ is based on, “alluding to a cavalry preparing for their next battle.” For the first time, lead singer SU-METAL penned the lyrics.
Rockshots Records is proud to announce their signing of Finnish rockers Highway Queen for their debut full-length Bitter Soul, a collection of rock and metal songs with beautiful melodies, strong riffs with heavy drums and bass. Each song shows the listener the stylistic versatility of the band. The album is due out on December 16 and follows their 2021 singles ‘Walls Are Burned’, ‘You Better Run’ and ‘Hellfire’ released via Inverse Records. Songs on Bitter Soul are all about scenarios in one’s life. The lyrics tell stories about gnawing the burden of shame, anger, and bitterness. They also talk about the burden that carries through generations. They are about people’s weaknesses too. The stories are also about overcoming these challenges. “From our first self-releases and singles with Inverse Records to this album, our sound is definitely going from a lighter to heavier direction. Every song has its own mood so feeling vary throughout the album. There are parts in the album with bluesy vibes to parts that have strong doom or even thrash vibes. It all blends together with a touch of 80’s style. Every song on the record has its own mood.” adds the band. Now, the band presents their first single and album title track with a music video. The band explains the song in further detail: “We wanted to compose a very simple and blues-like song. We tossed around ideas and played and played until we got verse and chorus ready. Still, we weren’t pleased with the chorus. We had a session with the producer and we introduced the song to him. He also thought that it wasn’t ready yet. So we played the song and tried to think out of the box and the chorus came out. The guitar has a gloomy riff to give the song a darker shade. The bass came out to be strong together with simple and tight drums still giving some spice on its own. Bitter Soul tells about a woman who has lost her loved ones. Her soul has died. She regrets and mourns but she doesn’t know how she can change the things she has done.”
