Following the release for her highly-praised the third EP last year, fast-rising indie bedroom-pop artist girlhouse (aka Lauren Luiz) has now announced her plans for the fourth EP alongside the release of her rousing new single ‘you don’t think about me’.

Also featuring the newly unveiled lead single ‘worth it’, the fourth EP looks to become her most anthemic collection to date. With every new release so far, she has broadened and cultivated a richer and more dynamic direction, perfectly highlighted by the new offering ‘you don’t think about me’.

Much like what we got experience on ‘worth it’, ‘you don’t think about me’ hones more of that raw and intimate songwriting she is known for into a bright and soaring indie-rock belter. Building itself into a fresh and euphoric new delight, she battles her own self-obsessions to become a happier and more self-assured human being throughout this new offering.

Adding about ‘you don’t think about me’, she said, “Inspired by social anxiety and my hyper fixation on understanding and putting meaning to everything! I go down rabbit holes in my head trying to fix everything I’ve ever done wrong or stupid things I’ve said, to the point where it almost feels egotistic. It drives me nuts and it’s a constant battle for me. In this song I’m talking about a falling out I had with someone that I couldn’t figure out why they do or say the things that they do. I had to stop myself because, “there is no way this person is putting as much energy into figuring this out as I am right now!!” And I dropped it. I’m getting better at learning when to walk away and that’s been a hard journey for me.”

audalei is back with her brand-new single ‘meringue pie’ infused with dark, emotional, bittersweet and heartbreaking tones that will capture the listeners attention from the very first note.

She collaborated with Dalton Ricks (engineer for Clairo, Vampire Weekend, Maggie Rogers), Tyler Gardosh (music manager, and previously worked with Frankie Cosmos, Clairo), and her brother, Lucas Furseth (multi-instrumentalist based in Vancouver, Canada) on ‘meringue pie’. And from this talented team, and the approval from Angus Maude and David Marinell, the dreamy, moody, and sweet bedroom pop hit was created.

The melancholy production on ‘meringue pie’ features drums, a ukulele, a tape machine, and special FX. This simple and powerful production paired with intimate and emotive vocals draws the listener in immediately.

“‘meringue pie’ is a hauntingly sweet, bedroom pop hit. This song explores the cycle of short-term romances which transition from light optimistic honeymoon phases to a dark reality overnight. The metaphor used is one of a beautiful sunny day that is seemingly perfect but never lasts past the sunset,” explains audalei.

Introducing Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Bonnie Kemplay with her brand new single ‘19’. Delicate, vivid and gorgeously cinematic, Bonnie is the latest signing to world-renowned record label Dirty Hit (The 1975, Beabadoobee, Wolf Alice) and follows her knockout performance for BBC 1’s prestigious Live Lounge series last year.

‘19’ was penned during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and finds Bonnie grappling with coming of age during an uncertain and monotonous time. Bonnie gravitates towards writing about personal experiences, hardships, relationships and friendships; like a diary to the inner monologue in her head, her tracks are honest and candidly authentic. Spearheaded by her unique ear for guitar melodies, vulnerable lyrics, and nostalgic alt-pop production, the homespun track certifies the 20-year-old as a vital new voice within the bedroom pop movement.

Speaking on ‘19’, Bonnie explains: “I wrote 19 on and off over the span of six months. As my life shifted throughout that period of time, the lyrical content took shape in parallel to my experiences – so it ended up being about many things. There are common themes of time passing, ritual, hopelessness.”

Houston will join ODESZA this summer on their massive stadium tour to perform their single together.

Speaking about the minimalist bedroom-pop ballad, “‘Comfortable,’ Houston says: “’Comfortable’ is about my anxiety toward the idea of dying. The fact that one day everything just stops and you no longer exist doesn’t seem possible to me. I wrote the song about how this fear causes me to feel pressure to live the best life possible, but then the anxiety of dying gives me is also so crippling at times that I don’t want to do anything and then I feel like I’m failing at living the best life.”

Salt Lake City-based musician and TikTok star, Addison Grace, announces their eagerly-awaited debut EP, Immaturing, along with their third, raw single, ‘Getting Used To,’ out everywhere now. The five-track EP–a project that sincerely documents Grace’s challenging experiences growing up–is due out May 6.

‘Getting Used To,’ the EP’s final track, holds the signature essence of Addison Grace–journal entry-like confessional songwriting and delicate vocals that reach profound emotional depths. The track chronicles Grace as they are face-to-face with the realization that they are getting older. Against a clean drum beat, Grace sings with distinct honesty, “It sucks to grow up / ‘Cause I’m stuck in my head, 19, / I’m getting used to / I’ve been kinda stressed / I’m a bit depressed / My life’s a fucking mess / But you know I’ll get used to it.” It is within this unflinching rawness, complete with all the anxieties and confusion that come with growing up, that listeners can freely and comfortably find themselves.

Explaining the thought behind the song, Grace notes, “‘Getting Used To’ is about that awkward in-between stage of growing up, for me it was specifically being 19. You don’t feel ready to be an adult but you feel too old to be a kid anymore. It’s scary, confusing, and awful, but you learn to cherish your memories and find the good in your current experiences.”

Keeper E. is proving herself one of the most exciting new pop acts from Atlantic Canada, with an official showcase at The Great Escape in Brighton and tour dates across Canada planned in support of the release of her sophomore EP, thank you and please and don’t go, set for release on May 6.

Lush tones, passionate lyrics and dance beats that have you frolicking with melancholy are riddled throughout Keeper E.’s latest single, ‘I Can Do It’.

When speaking on the track, she says, “this song expresses a deep frustration with the patriarchy. I believe that mansplaining is a way for men to hold power over women and non-binary people, by making things seem more complicated than they really are. By doing this, we can start to believe that certain things really would be hard to learn and hard to start doing, when in reality, men are just trying to hold onto their power (consciously or subconsciously) and convince themselves that they are smarter and more capable than women and non-binary people.

“This song is about claiming our own power and acknowledging that we are human, and we make mistakes, and can’t do everything right, but we still deserve to be treated equally to men and not have things over-explained and dumbed down. This song is all about empowerment and equality.”
