St. Louis rapper and singer Big Boss Vette unveils a stunning music video for her new single ‘Get It.’ The track stands out as a fan favorite from her debut EP, RESILIENCE, available now via Beatstaz/Amigo Records/Republic Records. In the video directed by SPUDDSMCKENZIE, she turns up at a roller rink surrounded by friends, dripping in seventies-style fits with shimmering jewelry. It channels a nostalgic vibe with its throwback aesthetic and impressive roller skating choreography. It perfectly matches the song’s distinct party-ready bounce.

Alabama’s very own princess of rap Flo Milli announces her second studio album, Fine Ho, Stay set for release via RCA Records later this summer. To coincide with the announcement, she shares the album’s first single and visual for ‘Fruit Loop.’ The hard-hitting track, produced by YoungFyre (who is known for producing her hit ‘Conceited’) exudes the unrelenting confidence that has become a Flo Milli signature. The boisterous visual is directed by Chandler Lass (Latto, Ari Lennox).

Ice Spice has dropped the official video for her new single ‘Deli.’ The video was filmed in a Hamilton Heights, Manhattan corner store, with the Bronx MC rapping as she makes her her way through the aisles, flanked by dancers who use fridges filled with luridly colored drinks as a backdrop.
In anticipation of the kick off of her August ‘Talk To Me Nice’ tour, Sa-Roc has today shared her song of the same name and the first single from her forthcoming album. ‘Talk To Me Nice,’ continues the tradition of Sa-Roc sharing a deep connection with her audience, with poise, tenacity and masterful skill. The new single, produced by Sol Messiah, takes a more assertive tone, as she focuses on challenging the industry while demanding respect from it. The sparse, yet menacing track centers Sa-Roc’s voice, showcasing her dextrous wordplay, natural wit and agility. Sa-Roc has also shared the official video for ‘Talk To Me Nice,’ with the visuals engaging with light and shadow in stark contrasts to symbolize the decentering and marginalization she and many others have experienced in life. The video, directed by David Maxwell, features guest appearances from dancer Storyboard P and members of the art collective Art Comes First, and notably incorporates Afro-punk aesthetics as well the jewelry and motifs of many Black, African and Indigenous cultures, as a symbolic nod to those cultures that have long countered the prevailing social narrative.
BIA has returned with REALLY HER, a nine-song EP with assists from Juicy J, Swizz Beatz, J. Cole, and Timbaland. In addition to the new offering, fans can also check out a video for ‘MILLIONS,’ which was produced by AzizTheShake and Tim Nihan.
Once again we are greeted with the exploits of a rapper who needs no introduction. Nolay has endured years in the game and still comes out top, synonymous with the battle-esque crows of an artist comfortable in her skin and changing for no one. But this time, our prime mover further turns up the heat. Bouncing back following her last single ‘Stunning‘, Nolay commits to the scent of victory once more by inciting the industry to panic over an array of venomous wordplay intrinsic to the artist, and recognisable to anyone who knows her. Each bar and verse is laced with an intoxicating cable of expertise rarely seen in the game anymore, where Nolay punches holes into beats inspired by Braveheats’ Oochie Wally: “posing in your pictures with some prop money, a broke joke I can’t even get you robbed honey.” These are the verbalisations of confidence in what she is capable of, and this single is but another example of why she is one of the best rappers to grace not only the UK but music itself.
It’s the beginning of a new era for JT of City Girls. After sharing her solo single ‘No Bars,’ she’s already garnered much buzzy for her quick-witted punchlines and fiery flows. Now, she has shared the video for her viral new track. In the video, she is seen dancing behind blue bars, rocking matching hair and a hoodie. This is juxtaposed with clips of JT partying and meeting fans across London and Paris, emphasizing the she and City Girls have become a worldwide sensation. In a statement accompanying the song’s release this past week, JT said she hopes the song is the beginning of a new chapter in her artistry, and leads to more people taking her seriously in hip-hop. “I hope this freestyle finds you in a great place and is a start of the respect I deserve in music,” she said. “I love music! I love my voice! I love poppin my sh*t.” [via Uproxx]

JT isn’t the only female rapper to catch our attention this weekend – BIA is also holding it down with her latest single, ‘Raised Me.’ She has put her own spin on Petey Pablo’s ‘Raise Up’ flow, reminding us that she’s a force to be reckoned with amid her contemporaries. “Not for nothin’, I got motion, my traction never lackin’ / Say my name, say my name, more Ls, it never happened,” BIA effortlessly flows on her first verse. Later on she begins the chorus with, “Money on my mind and my mind on my money and thе business that pays me / I’m movin’ dangerous, tryna make it home safely.” [via HNHH]

Haviah Mighty is back with a new single, ‘Huh,’ a dancey, breakup track which places the Canadian rapper’s knack for emotional expression at the center of a ready-for-the-club beat. Taking stylistic cues from dancehall, ‘Huh’ balances Haviah’s hard-hitting flow with moments of bubbling, rhythmic goodness. As the lyrics “It’s a shame you let me down/ the way you did” shine through glitched-out vocal processing, the underlying pulse of the backbeat chugs on, creating a symbolic tension of sorts. “‘Huh’ is a tale of disappointment following the narration of a desperate lover who is losing the love of their life, and vowing to change to reverse it all,” Haviah explained in a press statement. “Desperate to go back to how it was, they’re taking responsibility for the incompatibility, and suffering a mind/body separation of sorts where their mind is wrapped up in the traumatic loss, unable to escape, but their body is free and has been let loose. They are living in two spaces, two worlds, and trying to return to perceived ‘stability,’ where ironically, what they want to return to, is the most unstable thing in their life.” [via Consequence]

St. Louis’s hottest new voice Big Boss Vette unleashes a new single and music video entitled ‘Problem’. As the track’s thick bass thuds and percussive stomp snaps, she tears through the soundscape with a fearless attitude and slick rhymes. Her tightly wound wordplay unspools with an undeniable chant, “Bitch, I’m a problem,” as she warns, “Get the fuck up out my face with all that soft shit!” In the accompanying visual, she turns up in the studio. She raps to the camera as frenetic cuts move in sync with the song’s raw rhythm.

West London rapper, singer and songwriter Br3nya has returned with visuals for her brand-new single, ‘Payday’. Following a brief hiatus, the track re-introduces the West Londoner and demonstrates her ability to merge sultry vocals with smooth rap flows whilst maintaining a seamless delivery. Gliding across an ethereal production from frequent collaborator MadeInParis, her distinct afro-infused sonic remains at the core of her artistry as she encourages listeners to have faith in their journey to success. ‘Payday’ demonstrates her love for her work and sees her laser-focused on reaching her goals and providing for her loved ones.
A few weeks after dropping her powerful new single of in your face hip hop, NIASHA has readied an appropriately fierce and fiery visual accompaniment, with the video for ‘MOVE’ streaming now. A bass-heavy production courtesy of BLUM, ‘MOVE’ features a hypnotic, groove-laden rhythm section with NIASHA’s commanding, self-assured, rapid-fire, tongue-twisting rhymes that “harnesses her pent-up impatience towards industry gatekeepers”. The music video, produced by 76M Films, sees these themes translated literally, as NIASHA effortlessly moves her way through a series of scenes and styles, unrestrained and not being held back. On the music video, NIASHA says, “It’s bold, it’s edgy, it’s MAIN CHARACTER ENERGY. ‘MOVE’ is a movement of legacy, of showing up for yourself and your community. It’s an ode to the African philosophy of “ubuntu”, that translates to “I am because we all are.” Any obstruction and naysayer needs to MOVE out of the way.” [via Pilerats]

BIA has returned with ‘I’m That Bitch,’ a hard-hitting track featuring Timbaland. Co-produced by and featuring ad-libs from Timbo, ‘I’m That Bitch’ sees the Massachusetts rapper delivering plenty of braggadocio over a drill-influenced beat. It’s accompanied by a flashy video directed by Mike Ho, which features BIA sporting a series of futuristic outfits. For the cover art of the single, she also showed off a Missy Elliott-inspired fit. “Had to serve this look on the cover for the STYLE ICON,” she wrote in a post on Instagram. [via Complex]

Artist, producer, multi-instrumentalist Becca Starr releases ‘Tides’ into the world. This track is about an underlying suspicion of authority and religion, surrounding a concern close to Becca’s heart – Climate change. Exploring themes of guilt, anger and activism. Packed with groove-laden beats, in-voking a Trible battle cry that could be used by climate activists, that then leads into melancholic vo-cals haunting the chorus, with Becca bringing her rapping skills to the forefront in explosive fashion.

Trina really deserves more. The Miami icon has been so good for so long, that it seems as though her consistency gets her overlooked. She’s also well-known for extending her platform to younger female rappers, blessing them with both her encouragement and her cosign. Rappers whose careers she’s helped include City Girls, LightSkinKeisha and Tokyo Jetz. Fortunately, it seems at least some of the popular ladies she’s assisted remember her help and are willing to return the favor. On her latest single, ‘Clap,’ Trina reunites with Latto for a frenzied strip club anthem that finds the two rappers playing femme fatale, stressing both their beauty and their danger. I guess you could say that the song’s a warning that looks kill. In her verse, Latto goes from demanding a check for her attention to threatening, “If I reach inside this Birkin, bitch, you better duck.” On the energetic hook, the two encourage their strip club counterparts to make their backsides clap to make that money.
Atlanta force Mercury has shared her new project tabula rasa in full. Arriving in a blaze of hype, Mercury released a string of singles, gaining some high profile co-signs in the process. With Drake shouting her out, Mercury then took a step back, opting to find focus over following the headlines. New 10 track project tabula rasa is more considered as a result, matching the raucous Southern hip-hop she grew up with alongside what she terms “swag music…” A project that embodies personal evolution, tabula rasa is marked by a search for truth. Mercury comments… “To me, tabula rasa feels like the beginning of change. This project just shows different aspects of me and I really feel like I’ve grown with this project and found myself with it. I’m excited for everyone to experience it in their own way.” Alongside this, Mercury has shared the video for tabula rasa track ‘RASTA PASTA’ – produced by the Frank Ocean co-signed 454, it exemplifies her creativity.
Rico Nasty released her excellent album Nightmare Vacation at the end of 2020, and since then, she’s been steadily cranking out one-off singles: ‘Magic,’ ‘Buss,’ the Flo Milli collab ‘Money.’ Rico, who performed with Doja Cat at Coachella this past weekend, is reportedly gearing up to release a new mixtape. Now, she’s dropped another new single, a collaboration with ascendant Atanta rapper Bktherula. Rico has a bunch of different styles, and the new track ‘Vaderz’ returns her to the frantic, punk-influenced SoundCloud rap that helped make her famous in the first place. The song jams a whole lot of jagged energy into two minutes, and Rico and Bktherula have great on-record chemistry. The two of them trade off lines, matching each other’s energy and lining up with each other’s punchlines. Bktherula: “That ho bananers if she thought I was green and insane like Invader Zim.” Rico: “No Hannah Montaner/ This ain’t no double life, bitch, it’s really the way that I live.” Check out the hectic lo-fi ‘Vaderz’ video below.
