Hull’s eccentric non-binary fairy-witch Bizarrefae is back and showing a different side to things on their new single ‘Death Do Us Part’ – a track that asks “what if someone took their vows too seriously?” Inspired by the Japanese character archetype yandere and the romantic horror genre, this twisted fable reminds the listener to beware of unconditional love!

And on this latest offering Bizarrefae weaves between genres with ferocity and abandonment, all brought together with Endoflevelbaddie’s unique production. Its dark and twisted story is told from the perspective of a wife who grows tired of investing her love in a person who only gives her adultery and neglect. Devastated by the prospect of living a life without them, she takes matters into her own hands.

Bizarrefae says of the release “After taking a year long hiatus from making music, releasing ‘Death Do Us Part’ feels like taking that first proper ‘stop for breath’ on a long hike. I kept starting songs and then walking away, trying to build a new identity but losing myself in expectations that I had stood so firmly against. When my self-hatred hit its crux, I needed something light, something silly to reintroduce myself to music again and ‘Death Do Us Part’ feels like the perfect balance between the biting commentary of my album Revolting and the anti-pop silliness of my first EP Once Upon A Time. I hope this release begins a new era of creativity for myself – one in which my desire to create will have to be pried from my cold dead hands – it feels good to be back.”

Conceived during lockdown, enigmatic non-binary artist Bizarrefae releases their first single of 2023 ‘No Choice’ – an exploration into the modern-day consequences of humanity’s past.

Continuing their flourishing creative relationship with Hull’s ‘King of Electro’ producer Endoflevelbaddie this latest offering. with its crisp beats and menacing electro-bass. sees Bizarrefae explore the status-quo between the oppressed and the oppressors.

To explain in their own words: “Within the 200k years that humans have been around, cultures have developed around the oppression of those that were seen as ‘lesser’. ‘No Choice’ is an exploration into what this twisted history has resulted in. Coming off the back of America’s decision to overturn the Roe vs Wade legislation, the murder of Mahsa Amini and displays of toxic patriarchy seen worldwide, this anthem is for female assigned and presenting people, in a bid to empower them in their autonomy. It’s to remind my fellow humans they are not alone or ‘crazy’ for being angry with the world of pain in which they have no choice but to struggle through”.
