Cardi B has released a new single, ‘Enough (Miami),’ which follows ‘Like What (Freestyle)’ from a couple weeks ago. She started teasing it a few days ago with its revealing single artwork (which briefly got pulled from Instagram due to nudity) and some lyrics: “Me versus you and you know who they pickin’/ I can survive in the coldest conditions/ Bitches is washed, soapin’ the dishes/ I apply pressure like boa constrictors/ One bitch, two bitch, old bitch, new bitch, none of y’all not gonna do shit/ I’m in Miami I pull on cruise ships.” [via Stereogum]

North Carolina rapper Rapsody has announced a new album, Please Don’t Cry, due May 17 via We Each Other/Jamla/Roc Nation. The 22-song album features Erykah Badu, Lil Wayne, Baby Tate, Alex Isley, Phylicia Rashad, Keznamdi, and more, and it includes recent single ‘Asteroids’ (ft. Hit-Boy), as well as the just-released ‘Stand Tall.’ “‘Stand Tall’ is the first song I recorded when I started working on this album in 2020,” Rapsody says. “I would say it represents my desire to speak to my humanness in the most free way. It started me on the journey, and it required me to be fearless, which is why I titled it ‘Stand Tall’ – be firm in who you are, legs straight, shoulder back, chest out.” The two-minute song comes with a five-minute video/short film featuring Rapsody in conversation with friend and actress Sanaa Lathan. “Sanaa was one of my guides and supporters on that journey,” Rapsody continues. “She offered so much insight, support, and tools to usher me through; as well as inspiring me with her own vulnerability. Barkaa has shared her latest single ‘We Up’, accompanying the release with an official music video. The single, which was produced by frequent Barkaa collaborator jayteehazard, and sees the rapper deliver a victorious anthem atop thudding bass and piercing strings. Operating at whiplash pace, Barkaa commits to remaining self-assured within relationships, friendships and everything in between. “I wanted to write something that pumped on the stage, that felt good spitting, that uplifted my people and hyped them up,” Barkaa explained in a press statement. “I wanted to create something fun, something cheeky and make a statement on what the concrete jungle raised.” Barkaa said the single is a reminder of her diversity as a rapper, a declaration that tells listeners she “worked my fucking ass off to get me to where I am today.” The accompanying music video was directed by Kieran Satour, and follows Barkaa as she takes a joyride with friends en route to a particularly rowdy night out. Right now, the Memphis rapper GloRilla is going through a wild, dizzy come-up. Earlier this year, she released ‘FNF (Let’s Go),’ an underground smash that went viral and crossed over to the Hot 100. That success won GloRilla a deal with hometown rap king Yo Gotti’s CMG label, and she made her debut for that label when she released her song ‘Tomorrow’ a couple of months ago. Now, Glorilla has a new version of ‘Tomorrow’ with her spiritual and stylistic peer Cardi B, and its video will brighten your day. Cardi and GloRilla make so much sense together. They both make assertively ratchet head-slap music, and they both sound great over hard, simple beats. In the Diesel Filmz-directed video for ‘Tomorrow 2,’ GloRilla and her friends go wild in Cardi’s New York hometown, pole-dancing on subway poles and hanging out of sunroofs. Then, Cardi herself shows up and says a whole lot of tough shit: “Bitches be on dick today, sing every word of ‘Up’ tomorrow/ Bitch, I still got cases opened, keep your mouth shut tomorrow.” [via Stereogum]

Haviah Mighty has returned with ‘Honey Bun,’ a moody new song about the surface-level pleasures of fame. Produced by Bizness Boi and Derelle Rideout, ‘Honey Bun’ represents the mentality of always wanting more once you experience success. In a press release, Mighty explained that after a breakup, she turned to the material benefits of her rising rap career for comfort, only to realize that owning a bunch of Prada and Balenciaga can only make you so happy. “The end of this relationship was the end of stability and certainty for a time. It broke my trust. It meant that my value system around building relationships had completely changed. Where I once sought authenticity in a new connection, I found my desires were only surface,” Mighty recalled. “I pivoted hard to self-validation, recognizing my co-dependency on this person only after being left behind. I began to rely heavily on having multiple beautiful partners, money, designer clothes, drugs and any other way to escape the hurt. ‘Honey Bun’ is a toxic part of my journey, but mixed with the internal conflict of knowing better deep down.” After seemingly flexing about her new lavish lifestyle, Mighty ends ‘Honey Bun’ with audio from her father, who explains what’s really important. “I reflect on parental advice, ‘don’t need nothing but yourself, that’s on my mama/father,’ and while I’m still crooning about needing ‘another one,’ through the outro my father can be heard discrediting the entire song with his take on what beauty really is,” she explained. “You’re reminded that just as your true purpose is found from going within, the true purpose of another is found within them. I must say, it’s been a while since we heard from her till she hit us up with her new jam ‘Bed Stuy Fly’. The aptly titled single sees her representing her borough to the fullest and reminding us that she never left. Her pen is still sharp as ever as she effortlessly glides over the moody backdrop made up of haunting keys and airy strings. Far from rhyming for the sake of it, Nello puts emotions into the lines with a lot of personal insight and bravado. Lines like “Duality of life I’d rather put on the leather but it gotta be vegan, I don’t beef with the extra, natural born flexer” and “Ran with Bad Boys, comb through them like the Bethas, yeah I’m on this beat like mustard, better catch-up” explore her tastes and firm demeanour as a lady who can rock with the men. Cardi B has shared the music video for her latest single ‘Hot Shit’, featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk. The video was directed by filmmaker Lado Kvataniya, marking the first time he and Cardi have worked together. It depicts the rapper atop of a skyscraper, as well as walking down the side of it, while Lil Durk performs his verse from atop a submerged car underneath a bridge. Later in the video, a masked figure dances in front of a motorcycle during West’s verse. Due to the figure never revealing their face, which is covered by either a helmet or a cloak for the entire video, it is unclear whether it is actually West himself in the clip. [via NME]

The charismatic Alabama rapper Flo Milli put out her debut mixtape, Ho, Why Is You Here ?, in 2020. She’s taken her time following it up. Flo Milli has put out a few stray singles over the past couple years, and now she’s finally ready to release her first proper album, You Still Here, Ho ?, which will be out next week. Cardi B still hasn’t followed up her 2018 debut album Invasion Of Privacy, but it hasn’t stopped her from making hits. Her latest contender for the Hot 100 throne is ‘Hot Shit,’ a track that assembles some big names around the South Bronx’s finest. The invincible Memphis beat-maker Tay Keith co-produced the track with BanBwoi, and it has guest features from Chicago superstars Kanye West and Lil Durk. It also samples ‘The Electric Slide’? That part comes in the context of these lyrics: “I’m connected/ I don’t know what’s longer, man, my pockets or my checklist/ I don’t know who’s colder, man, my heart or my necklace/ Pretty when I wake up, I’m a bad bitch at breakfast/ Too much slide on the op, it’s electric.” [via Stereogum]

Hip hop artist PollyHill aka Paloma Schneideman has dropped a fresh cut in collaboration with production heavyweight Dera Meelan. The pair’s second single together in just under a month, the deeply vibey, introspective track launches today with a stylish emerald green studio vid directed by Schneideman and Frankie Berge. Miami rap duo City Girls follow their 2021 tracks ‘Twerkulator’ and ‘Scared’ with ‘Good Love,’ a new single that’s definitely a bid for summer-jam status. To that end, City Girls have recruited the ageless R&B king Usher. On ‘Good Love,’ City Girls and Usher team up to ride a joyous electro beat. City Girls are brash, and Usher is smooth; the combination almost makes too much sense. Director Daps shot the song’s video at the famous Atlanta roller rink Cascades, and it gives Usher, Yung Miami, and JT a chance to show off their moves. [via Stereogum]
