ScarLip is leveling up! The Bronx rapper is keeping the momentum going with her latest release, and one of her most creative to-date. She has dropped off a new track ‘No Statements,’ which is a hard-hitting rap tune that’s delivered in ScarLip’s signature aggressive style. The song discusses the theme of snitching, emphasizing how she and her crew won’t participate in snitch activity. The Tampa rapper and singer Doechii has talent and charisma to burn, and she seems to be on the precipice of something big. Last year, Doechii signed with TDE and released her she / her / black bitch EP. This year, she released the hid Kodak Black collab ‘What It Is (Block Boy)’ and the ‘Int’l Players Anthem’ freestyle ‘Universal Swamp Anthem.’ Last month, Doechii came out with the clubby and excellent single ‘Booty Drop.’ Now, she’s about to head out on tour with Doja Cat and Ice Spice, and she’s come out with another attention-grabbing single and video. Doechii’s new track ‘Pacer,’ which she previewed while performing at Coachella earlier this year, is very much in the Rico Nasty lane. It’s a shouty maximalist anthem, and Saint 808’s production is full of in-the-red electronic streaks and overdriven rock guitars. Over those digital crashes, Doechii screams that she’s a rock star and she’s on God’s time, as her voice moves between guttural roar and sweet drama-kid singing. Director Nikko Lamere’s big-budget video goes full Halloween, playing around with S&M and goth-rave aesthetics. This is a big, fun, catchy song, and Doechii is very much hoping that you will notice. Back with another statement piece, CHIKA uncovers the captivating music video for her new single ‘DEMIGOD’. It notably adorns her acclaimed debut SAMSON: The Album out now. The video opens in an intense fashion. CHIKA addresses herself in the mirror donning an ornate green dress and golden headscarf. She declares, “I am what I am,” and her delivery proves chilling in between thick synths and the track’s icy bass line. The visual follows her through the forest and flames only to reach a coronation at the head of the table. Tkay Maidza is back with a new single, ‘Silent Assassin,’ which was produced by Flume. It’s the Australian musician’s first song since last year’s ‘Nights In December,’ which came after the official conclusion of Maidza’s years-long Last Year Was Weird EP project. “I like to move in silence, but this song is a reminder that people shouldn’t count me out or underestimate my abilities; they should be afraid when I’m quiet as I come back more evolved,” she said in a statement. “I’ve always wanted to work with Flume and was immediately ecstatic when he played the instrumental for this; I wanted to channel Busta Rhymes and Missy Elliot.” [via Stereogum]

The song is called ‘Anything Flows,’ and it features Maiya The Don, 2Rare, and Kari Faux. Immediately upon turning on the track, you are met with some awesome, uptempo production. Overall, the beat is something that complements the stylings of every artist here. Moreover, we have Flo Milli on the hook, who brings some truly infectious energy to the while thing. From there, Maiya The Don comes through with a standout verse that will most definitely create a few fans. 2Rare and Kari Faux are also great on this cut, and they continue to show why they are rising stars in the industry. In celebration of Hip Hop’s monumental 50th birthday, Mass Appeal, Google Pixel, and Sony Music Entertainment’s Certified have come together to spotlight female voices within the genre through the dynamic ‘Pixel RePresents’ content series. This series will feature the most promising female artists in Hip Hop reimagining classic tracks. Toronto-based musical giant, Haviah Mighty releases a track that pays homage to her family, ‘Zoom Zoom,’ ahead of her anticipated Crying Crystals album out on July 14. ‘Zoom Zoom’ features her sister, Omega Mighty and digs deep into traditional Afro-beats and R&B elements that we heard on her single from earlier this year, ‘Room Service,’ but with more upbeat/dancehall-leaning energy that we heard on her most recent single ‘Huh.’ It’s a perfect foreshadowing of the breadth and excitement to come on her record next month. Of the track, Haviah Mighty says, “‘Zoom Zoom’ is a reflection of the regret of truly letting someone go. It’s a rapid change of the mind, with ‘Zoom Zoom’ being a metaphor for rushing back to the one you love. In my first verse, I paint the picture. Chika is back with ‘Requiem for a Dream,’ her first new single since 2021. Haviah Mighty is back with a new single, ‘Huh,’ a dancey, breakup track which places the Canadian rapper’s knack for emotional expression at the center of a ready-for-the-club beat. Taking stylistic cues from dancehall, ‘Huh’ balances Haviah’s hard-hitting flow with moments of bubbling, rhythmic goodness. As the lyrics “It’s a shame you let me down/ the way you did” shine through glitched-out vocal processing, the underlying pulse of the backbeat chugs on, creating a symbolic tension of sorts. “‘Huh’ is a tale of disappointment following the narration of a desperate lover who is losing the love of their life, and vowing to change to reverse it all,” Haviah explained in a press statement. “Desperate to go back to how it was, they’re taking responsibility for the incompatibility, and suffering a mind/body separation of sorts where their mind is wrapped up in the traumatic loss, unable to escape, but their body is free and has been let loose. Next month, Atlanta rapper Mercury will release an EP called heaven — it follows last year’s fear mercury EP.
