Written and produced in its entirety in Daisy’s colourful bedroom studio, the collection of songs on TOOTHPICK despite their delicate nature, are never pensive nor scared. Her heart – ever worn on her sleeve – beats & bleeds with a transparency typically reserved for therapy sessions.

Newly released single ‘pho & cry’ is one such example of her intimate songwriting – arriving in the wake of her recent sold-out headline show at the El Rey in Los Angeles. A spellbinding sweep of 90’s-flecked, soulful, grungey R&B, Daisy shared more insight into the song’s inspiration:

“‘pho & cry’ is my ode to all the sweet 90s grunge pop ballads i grew up singing and swaying to. i wrote this about navigating walking away from something that you know you need to, while acknowledging that you’re going to be really hurting people that are important to you in the process. pushing yourself to grow while grieving what you’re leaving behind.”

To mark the album announcement, DAISY WORLD has released new single ‘break it off’ along with its accompanying video made in collaboration with director of photography Seannie Bryan (Weyes Blood, Skullcrusher, Blondshell).

Self-produced alongside Albert Jairo Gordon and Matt Emonson, Daisy shared insight into the song’s inspiration: “I wrote this one morning after my second and final date with a guy who wasn’t looking for the same kind of relationship as me. In the past I would have just gone along with it but as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned that to get what I REALLY want…I need to say “no! goodbye!” to the things I DON’T want…so I walked away even though he was a really good kisser…”

Soulful new single ‘so it goes’, self-produced alongside frequent collaborator Albert Jairo Gordon, places Daisy’s impeccable vocal front and centre as she reflects upon a previous relationship.

Of the new single, Daisy said: “‘so it goes’ is a celebratory obituary of a chaotically intense and extremely beautiful & impactful relationship that i had. the love, the anger, the grief all wrapped into one song. & being able to easily walk away smiling and grateful for what it was, instead of fighting for what it could have been.”

Self-produced alongside Albert Jairo Gordon, new single ‘ur soggy’ moves elegantly between indie R&B and alt-pop touch points. Rooted in defiance in the face of rejection (“I thought we were something cool / but you’re so fucking typical / we can break it down if you want to / either way I’m ok”), ‘ur soggy’ glides through its synth adorned verses, with Daisy perfectly crystallising the dizzying feeling of unease amidst a tumultuous relationship (“and it’s on again / and it’s off again”).

Of the new single, Daisy said: “‘ur soggy’ is a song about rejection… When I feel rejected, I tend to feel quite defensive lol so here I am being defensive & singing a silly little diss track.”
