]]> Danz CM — the self-produced musician, songwriter, and composer formerly known as Computer Magic who’s also the brains behind the beloved Synth History zine — announces the new album The Interdimensional Extraterrestrial Time Travelers Society, out November 20 via Channel 9 Records. Having meticulously finessed the project over 3 years, it’s Danz CM’s most ambitious and expansive work yet.

Danz also shares today two new singles, ‘Animal’ and its non-album exclusive B-side ‘The Captain.’ On the Michael Jordan-inspired ‘Animal,’ Danz sings of stepping into a room with unapologetic purpose over avant-pop organ, pulsing drum breaks, and cosmic synth delays. ‘The Captain’ is playful, channeling the breezy charm of 70s soft rock while telling the tale of a drunk sea captain who falls overboard.

The Interdimensional Extraterrestrial Time Travelers Society is a wondrously crafted alt-pop triumph. Written, produced, and recorded entirely in Danz’s home studio, it channels a raw, organic energy by blending her signature analog workflow of Moogs and vintage-style outboard gear with live guitars, organ, and drum machines and breaks. Capturing the full, dynamic scope of Danz’s production and songwriting, the record fuses that heavy, guitar-driven energy of alt rock and new wave with sweeping synths, navigating the highest highs of escapist pop and the lowest lows of existential weight.

]]> Danz CM explores two sides of her electronic world on double single ‘A Violent Power’ and ‘Bontempi Pop 3’. Previewing a forthcoming new project, the tracks draw heavily from vintage electronic sounds without simply recreating the past, pairing old-school hardware with a distinctly contemporary approach.

‘A Violent Power’ takes the lead with a driving beat and a magical array of analogue synths, settling into a groove somewhere between new wave and darkwave without belonging completely to either. There are traces of Kraftwerk, Tubeway Army and Devo in its retro-futuristic DNA, but Danz CM makes the sound entirely her own. Brightness and darkness exist side by side, with an underlying flicker of anxiety preventing its more buoyant moments from becoming entirely carefree.

‘Bontempi Pop 3’ slips into more atmospheric territory. Breakbeats and the distinctive sound of its Italian toy organ create a hypnotic, trip-hop-inflected counterpart to the first track, proving that unusual instrumentation doesn’t necessarily need to result in something deliberately difficult. Together, the two songs make natural companions: different in character but unmistakably inhabitants of the same strange, synth-filled universe.
