South-west UK based alternative outfit ANIIMALIA today announced their new EP CAROUSEL, set for release on April 4 via Marshall Records, and sees the band teaming up once again with renowned producer-engineer Romesh Dodangoda (Bring Me The Horizon, Funeral For A Friend, Nova Twins, Twin Atlantic). The announcement is accompanied by the release of their latest single, ‘PUPPETEER’. “‘Puppeteer’ stands tall as an anthem, resonating with those who have endured the weight of being pushed to their limits,” declares the frontwoman, Kira Beckett. The vocalist candidly unravels the darker threads of the human psyche, spotlighting the haunting thoughts that can accompany prolonged mistreatment. “It explores untethered anger after being walked over for too long, and the dark thoughts that can come with that…” The band sought to craft a dense tapestry of vivid imagery, offering a stark portrayal of the chaos wrought by pent-up anger. ‘Puppeteer’ becomes a chilling reminder that when individuals find themselves pushed beyond their breaking points, they are susceptible to losing grip on reality and spiralling until they snap.

Forward-thinking duo Lake Malice have revealed their reflective new track ‘Eternal December’, which is about profound emotions of homesickness and seasonal depression. It’s inspired by vocalist Alice Guala’s experience of moving countries and having to rebuild meaningful connections in a place which can sometimes feel like an “Eternal December”. Guala and guitarist/co-instigator Blake Cornwall say: “We wrote this song in the wintery months when the rain never stopped and we barely saw the sun. It feels like something everyone can relate to on some level. Our aim has always been to avoid limitations on where we take our music and we’re extremely proud of this multilayered composition which incorporates elements of EDM, hyperpop and metalcore.”

On Friday, Melbourne-based dark folk/blackgaze project SULDUSK celebrated the release of their much-awaited, sophomore studio album, Anthesis, out via Napalm Records. In support of SULDUSK’s critically-acclaimed new album, the Australian act is premiering a music video for their latest haunting single, ‘Mythical Creatures’. Band mastermind Emily Highfield comments: “We are so pleased to finally release Anthesis! This album extends the path laid down by Lunar Falls, but having a full band beside me now emboldened me to be braver in the musical and emotional terrain we explored.” [via Outburn]

Death Dealer Union drops empowering anthem ‘Beyond Heaven’. “Imagine a life where you are shining bright” is the opening lyric on this opus. The video and track feels like the final journey DDU has in store for us.This is the last video in a series of four videos from the debut record Initiation. ‘Beyond Heaven’ is a six minute opus about finding the best version of yourself. It is the last song on the record and it is also the guiding theme throughout the whole album. You’ll notice that the opening track ‘Initiation’ is the piano melody on the beginning of ‘Beyond Heaven.’ CC McKenna says, “The song ‘Beyond Heaven’ is one of my favorites on the record. It was written by myself and two gentlemen named Mark Wenzel, and Keith Wolter along with Lena Scissorhands, and Doug Weiand. The song is really about shedding the darkness that might hold you back or probably better said is that it’s about confronting the darkness within yourself; that you may acknowledge its beauty and move on to the highest version of yourself. All we have to do is collectively believe!… We present to you our final video and single for our first album Initiation.” [via Outburn]

ANA are a suspenseful, mysterious, and soulful symphonic metal band from Melbourne. The band just premiered a new music video and single entitled ‘Ouroboros’. This is the second single and music video taken from their upcoming EP album The Art of Letting Go which is scheduled to be released on March 29 via Eclipse Records. The album was produced by Josh Mak & Anna Khristenko, recorded and mixed by Chris Themelco (Eye of the Enemy, Colour & Shade, Naberus) at Monolith Studios, and mastered by Thomas ‘Plec’ Johansson (Groove Armada, Soilwork, Mayhem) at The Panic Room Studio, and the music video was directed by Aaron Mak. “We wanted the music video for ‘Ouroboros’ to be a statement on our emergence into the music scene as a novel yet experienced and dedicated group of musicians by placing our best foot forward and showing a glimpse of where we plan to go” says lead vocalist Anna Khristenko.
In case you haven’t picked up a copy of Black Metal Rainbows yet, the titular genre has officially moved firmly enough past its homicidal roots in misogyny and transphobia that the current generation of artists feels comfortable leaning into the sounds of its second wave to reclaim them as their own. As one figure in this movement, Erin Dawson has prescribed the term “TWBM”—trans woman black metal—to the music she makes as Genital Shame in response to the long history of acronyms incorporating “national socialist” and other unsavory classifiers. Dawson’s new album Chronic Illness Wish even sees her leaning into the tinny sounds of the genre’s early-’90s era with lead single ‘Schooled in Every Grace’ establishing this sonic palette early on the record before veering into experimental ambiance on the instrumental ‘Hermaphroditic Image’ and hitting the LP’s transcendental peak of ‘Taste Rot’ shortly after (and shouting out Drag Race season 14 contestant Kerri Colby shortly after that). “‘Schooled in Every Grace’ captures the feeling of being pursued by unreasonable, constant guilt from differing sources—a voyeuristic/surveilling presence, god—ultimately leading to something like a conviction in the song’s final moments,” she shares of the track. With the album arriving last Friday via metal newcomers The Garrote, we’re getting an ethereal visual for the track that sees Dawson shredding through the single in front of misty hills before vanishing completely in the clip’s final moments. Check out the video directed by Aziel Mal below. [via FLOOD]

Modern metal band Conspiracy of Blackness is thrilled to unveil their latest music video for the powerful track, ‘Collapsed.’ The song is taken from their upcoming album, Pain Therapy, set for re-release via Wormholedeath. The band stated: “‘Collapsed’ is a song of denunciation against the continuous and extreme exploitation of Nature. This track tells of man’s self-destruction process, the unsustainability of consumption and production systems, and of the need to live in a healthy environment with respect for every living being. The band is very attentive to these issues, through this song launches a clear and strong message, underlined by the video clip created by Grazia Riccardo and directed by Alessandro Spenga of BluArtic Studios.” The visually stunning music video by Alessandro Spenga of BluArtic Studios perfectly represents the intensity of the track.

Ignescent are a dynamic hard rock band from Chicago who will release their debut album, Fight In Me, on November 10 via Frontiers. A first single from it for the song ‘Not Today’ that features Kevin Young of Disciple is out now. Its video features Billy Grey of Fozzy and was directed by JT Ibanez. Lead singer Jennifer Benson explains the album title and its central theme by stating: “We will come out stronger in the end through the pain with our hearts ignited. I will never stop the fight in me.”

Brazilian metal act Semblant have just made a brand new video available for a song entitled ‘The Human Eclipse’. Included on their current album, Vermillion Eclipse, it coincides with the announcement of a 2xLP format (including limited edition red vinyl) of the highly regarded release, which will be made available on October 20.

Canada’s thrash maniacs Hyperia have been shredding across stages since their conception in 2018 and have released three albums to wild global reception. Their latest work The Serpent’s Cycle is coming out this November and will be a continuation of the aggressive riffs, melodic vocals, and all-around party nature that the band has come to be known for. The next single ‘Automatic Thrash Machine’ embodies that energy and draws listeners in with its endorphin rush of thrash technicality. The band describes the single: “A tongue-in-cheek nod to our favourite party thrash songs, this track is our homage to partying and having a good time with your friends. It’s accompanied by a full-out kegger of a music video that shows the fun side of Hyperia. It’s one of the more straightforward thrash songs on the album but still has lots of intricate parts from all members.”

West coast-based metal unit Death Dealer Union – featuring Elena Cataraga (aka Lena Scissorhands of modern metal leaders Infected Rain) – have released their debut album, Initiation via Napalm Records. Following recent singles ‘The Vow Of Silence’ and ‘The Integument’, the band has released a third single – the dynamic ‘Ill Fated’. The track juxtaposes 80s-influenced clean guitars and sinister metallic riffs as Lena displays her soaring trademark vocal delivery and introspective wordplay. The video features eye-catching imagery, sets and costumes, making for a striking viewing experience. Says the band: “We wanted to present something a little different with this video – everything from the fantastic Cherry Bombs dance troupe to the actors involved. We sought to do something not usually done in heavy metal videos. Enjoy!” [via Brave Words]

After properly announcing themselves with August single ‘Deus Ex Machina’, Holy Wars are keeping the momentum going with a new track: ‘BODY//TEMPLE.’ Released via Pale Chord and with an accompanying video, the band – vocalist Kat Leon and guitarist/producer Nick Perez – collectively state that their new tune “embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery, navigating through ego dissolution and the depths of the shadow self”. Holy Wars continue: “Its lyrics serve as a poignant cautionary tale on the path to enlightenment, shedding light on how our egos and self-projections can become insidious adversaries. This composition urges us to scrutinise every facet of our lives – be it religion, society, or our very essence – for authentic revelation and personal liberation.” Speaking about its video, they share that the clip “mirrors this primal intensity through its visuals, escorting viewers on a transformative journey alongside Kat as she confronts her shadow self. This duality is perceived, both from the vantage point of the audience and the stage, encapsulating a gut-deep resonance.” [via Kerrang!]

As they barrel towards their upcoming tour dates, Canadian melodic metal outfit LUTHARO are excited to announce they have joined new label home, Atomic Fire Records. To celebrate this announcement, as well as to give you a preview of what to expect live, the band have revealed a fresh new single, ‘Ruthless Bloodline,’ along with an electrifying live shot video showcasing the band’s powerful stage presence. “You wanted new music?
Filth is Eternal have unleashed their driving, immediate new single ‘Pressure Me’. Friction from opposing forces informs the lyrics on their forthcoming album, Find Out – the title of which could infer emergence from trauma or consequential learning. Regardless of its intended meaning, the title is used as a conduit for the band to push toward positive strides when addressing mental health, addiction, and relationships, with community as a salve. Of ‘Pressure Me’, frontperson Lis Di Angelo explains, “Growth and change can be uncomfortable, even painful, at times. We’re afraid of sharing our misery with others but allowing others in can help us gain perspective to see our current situation in a new light. ‘Pressure Me’ is a roadmap of nonlinear progress. It’s an acknowledgment that sometimes, whether we want to admit it or not, we need the pressure of honest discourse, especially if we mean to figure out the world we’ve built and discover the root of our problems.”

Svalbard have released a video for brand-new single ‘How To Swim Down’, the latest cut from their upcoming album The Weight Of The Mask. Featuring full-clean vocals from Serena Cherry and a violin performance from guirarist Liam Phelan, it’s something a little bit different from the Bristolian metallers. “This song is about the exquisite pain and sorrowful beauty of unrequited love,” says Serena. “I think it’s the saddest, most heartbreaking song we’ve ever written. Lyrically, the starting point of the verse is about concealment of adoration, before the chorus gives way to realising and accepting a fate of loving someone quietly from afar. “I cannot watch the music video for ‘How To Swim Down’ without crying,” she continues, adding that video creator Boy Tillkens “has captured the bittersweet emotion of the song so delicately, it’s an incredibly moving piece of animation to watch. “Musically, ‘How To Swim Down’ saw us dive into uncharted waters with Liam adding many layers of mournful violin parts onto the track. Finally, violins – for the first time in Svalbard history! It feels so exciting to have new instruments on a song. Another first is that How To Swim Down features only clean vocals, no screams. I wanted the vocal delivery of these lyrics to feel as though I’m whispering a secret to someone whilst they’re sleeping. My vocals here represent that lonely type of communication, singing to yourself in an empty house. It’s a private, selfless love song, where only the listener knows of my heartache.” [via Kerrang]

In This Moment releases their brand new single, ‘THE PURGE’ from their forthcoming new studio album GODMODE out October 27 via BMG. The song is accompanied by the official music video directed by Jensen Noen (Ice Nine Kills, Falling In Reverse, Hollywood Undead). “We are thrilled to unveil ‘THE PURGE’ to everyone,” says vocalist Maria Brink. “I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical & cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy.” “This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart, it was such a crazy time,” says guitarist Chris Howorth. Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, ‘This is gonna be our first single’. Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song.”

Emerging electro-industrial artist Babychaos has unveiled the video for her latest single ‘Guilty Hands (I Bleed)’. In the vein of contemporaries such as Poppy, Babychaos blends harsh electronics with overt industrial rock/metal elements, such as distorted guitars and vocals. For example, ‘Guilty Hands (I Bleed)’ melds a burgeoning guitar riff with subtle electronic flourishes, resulting in a jolting loud-soft arrangement and unsettling atmospherics. Remarked Babychaos regarding the concept behind the song: “The story behind ‘Guilty Hands’ is one I’ve been clinging onto for years — and now it’s finally come to fruition and is out of my system for good. Throughout 2022 I found myself constantly writing as a way to cope with occurrences in my life I couldn’t control.” She continued: “I’ve found through experience that when we feel we don’t have control over an aspect of our lives, we resort to a need to control other aspects, sometimes in unexpected and disturbing ways: That was the inspiration for this track and video. Thanks to music producer Enrico Tiberi we created the complex beast of this song taking influence from European metal, American hard rock, and horror movie worthy soundscapes. And with music video producer Joey Durango we were able to bring these visuals to life.” [via Conesquence]

Louisiana metallic hardcore band Capra have announced that they’ll follow their 2021 debut LP In Transmission with sophomore album Errors on October 6 via Metal Blade/Blacklight. It was produced and tracked by Andrew Hernandez (This Will Destroy You, Mammoth Grinder, etc) at Estuary Recording Studios in Austin, mixed by Taylor Young, and mastered by Brad Boatright, the latter two of whom also worked on In Transmission. Walls of Jericho‘s Candace Kucsulain-Puopolo guests on ‘Human Commodity’ and Glassing‘s Dustin Coffman provided backing vocals on multiple tracks. “I knew that I wanted it to pick up where the first album left off, but that it needed to have an entirely new attitude,” says guitarist Tyler Harper. “If you listen to the last song from In Transmission into the first song on Errors, it’s a continuation. From there the album steers off into a direction that still feels similar, but is new.” The first single is ‘Tied Up,’ a killer offering of riffy, sludgy hardcore with some echoes of Every Time I Die–and not just because the drummer is wearing an ETID shirt in the video–and vocalist Crow Lotus tops it off with tangible, impassioned fury. Alongside the announcement of the debut album, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album;’ The Vow Of Silence’. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, the band says, “’The Vow Of Silence’ is an upbeat song, blending heavy/melodic harmonies with both aggressive and clean vocals. The video was shot in a historic castle in Los Angeles, CA dating back to the 1800s, and perfectly fits the image of the band and the vibration of the song.
