A flirty bass line and a funky guitar accompany Devon’s exploration into her questionable dating choices. She admits that while she doesn’t naturally go for the “safer” choice, she sometimes wishes she would.

Devon elaborates, “‘Good Guy’ is a song about wanting something that’s bad for you. Objectively, I know that dating emotionally unavailable men never ends well, but there’s something about the chase that I find really intoxicating. If I’m psychoanalyzing myself, I know that it has something to do with my upbringing. I fought for my dad’s attention growing up… so that’s what’s familiar to me – fighting for men’s attention. The second that someone isn’t into me… woof. I’m head over heels for them. I’m not saying that it’s a good thing – obviously, it’s problematic. Clearly, I need to do some work to unpack this situation. But I think it’s very relatable.”

Re: the song, Devon adds a new twang to her voice on the track ‘Dickhead’. She exemplifies, “’Dickhead is THE song for me. I feel like it captures so much of who I am. From the title to lyrics to the beat, it’s everything I wanna be as an artist. It’s a track that makes you wanna move and makes you smile. We had a laugh coming up with the lyrics. It’s hooky and just straight-up fun and I love it. I’m someone who is very drawn to music that is campy. The biggest songs of my youth were songs like ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’ and ‘Call Me Maybe’ and ‘Mama No. 5.’ I love music that is lighthearted and a little ridiculous. That’s the stuff people bond over, the stuff of life. I feel like the world can always use more FUN and that’s what ‘Dickhead’ is to me. I believe in it so much. I hope people love it as much as I do.”

This new track shines a light on what’s ahead for the singer songwriter. Devon declares that, “’Dickhead’ is also very representative of my future sound, I think. I’m a sucker for a good guitar riff and a driving beat. This chapter feels really good to me and I wanna keep chasing that feeling. I hope this song makes people excited about what I’m doing next.”

In the accompanying visual, directed by IBUKI Studios, Devon says “giddy up” to her gal pals as she says goodbye to her former lover. Nothing bothers this future country queen as she struts the streets with her unified dances. Guess the guy was just a ‘Dickhead’!
