Glasgow’s Cwfen (pronounced ‘Coven’) have announced that they will be releasing their debut album Sorrows on May 30 via New Heavy Sounds (MWWB, Death Pill, Shooting Daggers). Their music is described as having the glacial ferocity of Amenra, with the velvet-and-razor vocals of King Woman, and the rotting grandeur of Type O Negative.

Today they have also shared a video for new single ‘Wolfsbane’, which according to vocalist/guitarist Agnes Alder is, “on the surface, it’s about poison. At its heart, it’s an ode to the untamed female rage that comes when the world tries to carve us into something smaller.”

Laurenne/Louhimo – the collaboration between powerhouse Finnish vocalists Noora Louhimo (Battle Beast) and Netta Laurenne (Smackbound) – are pleased to unveil their new single, ‘The Cradle’, taken from their sophomore album Falling Through Stars, set for release on April 18 via Frontiers Music Srl.

Talking about the new single, Noora Louhimo stated: “’The Cradle’ is a song I really love and relate to. I love the atmosphere and the melody of the song – melancholy and hopeful at the same time. I love how mine and Netta’s voices go so well together in the song, “like cats in the cradle”.

ELUVEITIE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Awen’, is taken from the Swiss folk metal band’s upcoming new album, Ànv, which is scheduled to be released in April this year, via Nuclear Blast Records.

EDGE OF PARADISE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Give It To Me (Mind Assassin)’, is taken from the Los Angeles-based cinematic metal band’s new album, Prophecy, which is out now, via Napalm Records.

While 2025 has barely started, Italian metal legends LACUNA COIL are already going on full force with the release of their newest single ‘Gravity’. As December Falls have announced their fourth album Everything’s On Fire But I’m Fine, set for release through ADF Records via Virgin Records on August 8. Alongside the announcement, the Nottingham pop-punk group have also shared new single ‘Therapy’. “Most bands don’t make it to their fourth album. Crypta is back with a new record Shades Of Sorrow due out August 4, and a new single ‘Lord Of Ruins’ streaming right now. “‘Lord of Ruins’ was our pick for a first single ’cause it combines both melodic and aggressive melodies that are present throughout the whole album,” said Crypta drummer Luana Dametto. “So we thought it’s a good representation of what to expect of the whole piece. Hailing from Copenhagen, Prime Collective are proud to unveil their brand new artist: Martiné. Her sound is best described as a heavy metal Lana Del Rey and with her mysterious demeanour she delivers haunting songs about past relationships, on a fast track to becoming one of the most interesting newcomers of Danish metal. Now she presents her gloomy debut single ‘Oxytocin’. She says of the track: “My inspiration for this song was the very powerful hormone Oxytocin, which is also released when falling in love or by physical touch. The lyrics reflect how to embrace the power of one’s femininity and learn how to use that to set boundaries. It is definitely a song about being in control and not getting blinded by Oxytocin.”

With touchdown imminent for Cosmic Chronicles: Act 1, The Ascension their debut album on May 12, Kansas’ cosmic doom crew They Watch Us From The Moon are ready to fire off another track from it. ‘On The Fields Of The Moon’ is the opening number and pretty much nails the band’s unique sound and what they’re about. Cosmic space opera with heavy layered riffs ’n’ textures. Plus the fabulously melodic dual vocal harmonies of Luna Nemesis and Nova 10101001, which really take their sound to another level. Think ABBA ‘with riffs’. It sums up the scope of their debut perfectly. The band has this to say about the track: “’On The Fields Of The Moon’ is an epic ditty about the tide of an intergalactic battle turning against our human heroes. A war march with soaring vocal harmonies reminiscent of Alice In Chains/ABBA/OTTN-era Def Leppard.” Plus, there is a trippy and fittingly space age new video to go with it. 50’s sci-fi movies mixed with glam rock and an 80’s vibe in this psychedelic tale of alien abduction. All clashing colours and ‘Liquid Len’ (of Hawkwind fame) lightshow visuals, one can imagine that this lot are quite something to see live.

Metalcore trio Halocene have shared their brand new single ‘Maleficent’. ‘Maleficent’ – a darkly confident track about finding your own voice in spite of others’ doubts and opinions – is the title track and latest single from the band’s forthcoming EP, out May 19. The band shares: “’Maleficent’ is about finding self confidence and embracing who you are, despite the way outside voices may perceive you. The hate becomes fuel for your fire, and if being yourself makes you evil, then so be it.”
