With a subject matter as deceiving as its devious melodies, Freya says of ‘False Hope’: “’False Hope’ is about coming across individuals who promise the world to you but fail to present. It’s a song about picking yourself up after you come across ‘flaky’ characters.”

Recorded in Colchester, the track is Freya’s latest collaboration with producer Tom Donovan, notable for his work with Miles Kane.

Based on a fictional female protagonist from whom the song takes its name, ‘Tatianna’ finds Freya stepping into her heels and waltzing between her lucid dreams and harsh realities, caught between the glitter of stardom and the cold light of day.

As Freya explains of the track: “’Tatianna’ is based on a femme fatale like character who from the limelight appears the dream but behind the scenes it’s a different story…”

Goth-pop priestess Freya Beer is back with an invigorating AA-side release: ‘Fantasy’ / ‘Galore’.

Her first new music of 2023, the ‘Fantasy’ / ‘Galore’ AA-side single arrives as Freya begins to etch out the successor to her acclaimed debut album Beast. Toying with that which tempts us in both lucid fantasies and shadowy realities, these two bold, dark and exhilarating new tracks find Freya Beer delving into what drives our deepest desires and showcasing two very different sides of her artistic abilities.

“You stretched your pegs out wide, slightly confused my appetite” teases Freya on ‘Fantasy’ as she opens up the floor to a track of rapacious sexually-charged spills and raw garage rock thrills. Told through tactile, tantalising prose and prowling proto-punk riffs, this latest cut finds Freya celebrating the uncensored version of ourselves we become in our wildest daydreams. As Freya elaborates:

“’Fantasy’ is an unfiltered exploration of self-discovery and expressing your thoughts in a fictional world. I wanted to write a song that emotes raw emotion and tells the listener to embrace their feelings in a positive way.”

On the flipside, ‘Galore’ is an altogether more salacious affair that explores what can happen when those fictional pursuits and carnal desires boil over into real world infatuations with uncertain consequences. As Freya explains:

“’Galore’ is about people who are infatuated with something, almost bordering on ‘obsession’. The line “I’m your galore, you don’t want anyone else babe” depicts how this obsession is becoming a feeling of escapism and creating a fictional storyline for themselves.”

A goth-rock ballad spun through webs of swaggering feedback-scarred guitars, brooding synthesiser blossomings, and devilish vocal acrobatics destined to leave you breathless, ‘Galore’ will have fans new and old simply yearning for more.

Directed by acclaimed videographer Paul Gallagher, the new music is accompanied by a one-take film shot in London, bringing Freya’s artistic vision for these tracks into vivid focus.

‘Honeymoon Eyes’ is the sensational electro-pop single from London-based artist Freya Beer in collaboration with fellow future indie icon Tom Saint.

The ticking alternative-pop single conveys the highlights and undertones of a relationship which already has an ‘expiry date’ and which both individuals involved are well aware of. These doomed paramours are convincingly portrayed by the duo’s complementary and impassioned pop voices and which Freya likens to an inevitable end, “full speed, we’re about to crash”. Sonically, the track embodies a euphoric and dreamy essence that takes Freya Beer’s “glam goth noir” to a new ether. This transformative process was aided by the in-studio chemistry between the artist and impressive performer Tom Saint.

Speaking about this new phase of her sound, Freya Beers shares: “My new single ‘Honeymoon Eyes’ featuring Tom Saint is the perfect introduction to my next musical journey which I like to call my ‘Gothic-Disco’. The song embodies a dreamy essence but still pays homage to my “gothic-noir” which I’ve carried in my music from the beginning. The subject of the song is about being with an individual which feels too good to be true and plays a part in forbidden love.”

Anyone who has listened to Freya Beer’s previous works, such as the high-drama single ‘Love Child’, will be well aware of her sultry and cinematic sound with its roots in rock. However, with this new collaboration, the British singer and songwriter displays the dynamism of her talents with this captivating foray into a beat and synth driven pop soundscape. ‘Honeymoon Eyes’ was produced by Freya Beer and Tom Saint with Peter Hobbs.
