New Jersey’s symphonic metal band Everdawn unveil their new single and the accompanying music video ‘Another Lifetime’, out now via Frontiers Music Srl. The band commented about the track: “Many of us feel the constant fear that we are straying from our path, or that the journey set before us is not the one we’re meant for. We may feel afraid we are not strong enough to face the battles ahead or we feel anxious that we are veering away from the life we want. This song is about fighting inner demons, challenging our insecurities or preconceived notions and rising above. Trust nothing but yourself to achieve what you want in life, following your own footsteps. Realize: you are exactly where you are meant to be and who you are meant to become.”

Gore. have released their new single ‘Angels Like You’ with accompanying music video. “‘Angels Like You’ is one of two songs on the EP written about a particular individual, as opposed to a relational dynamic,” says vocalist Haley Roughton. “This song is about somebody who appeared righteous and just but ended up being quite cruel. In a bigger scope, this song depicts those who are self-aggrandized and signal their virtue. These people profess their greatness to others as a mask, so that we do not see how much they truly loathe themselves. Recording this song was a cathartic process and helped me let go of that person, and the hurt they left behind.”

Rockshots Records and Lay Of The Autumn is excited to announce the release of their third single, ‘After All This Time? Always’ from their highly anticipated album Of Love And Sorrow due out on October 25. ‘After All This Time? Always’ inspired by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows PT2, with a title symbolizing the sacrifice of eternal love. This song is an incredible lovely and fully orchestrated ballad where the voice of Iryna ERIA Boyarkina is majestic and unbelievable. Like the other two singles, this one completely stands for its beauty in a way that is uniquely Lay Of The Autumn.

CineMetal sensations, Ammify, have just dropped their latest visual masterpiece, the official music video for their captivating single, ‘HOMESICK.’ With a unique blend of post-production magic and mesmerizing performances, this video promises to captivate and astonish you. The entire production takes place on a virtual stage with towering LED screens, jaw-dropping pyrotechnics, and a light show rivaling any arena concert. Despite the high-energy performance and multi-cam coverage, every element of the stage, lighting, and effects was created digitally, transforming the experience into a mind-bending illusion of a live concert. The cutting-edge visual effects transport viewers into a surreal concert landscape, adding a powerful visual narrative to the intense emotion of ‘HOMESICK.’

LEAGUE OF DISTORTION have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Chainsaw’, is taken from the German modern metal band’s upcoming new album, Galvanize, which is scheduled to be released in October this year, via Napalm Records. Speaking about the new single, the band says, “our new single ‘Chainsaw’ cuts deep with its unapologetic commentary on the brutality of life, injustice, and karma. It channels our rage and frustration of living in a world where greed and hypocrisy reign. The song serves as both a warning and a catharsis – reminding us that vengeance and consequence are inevitable. This track is a sonic explosion of rebellion, a visceral call for justice in a broken system.” [via Distorted Sound]

HERIOT have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Opaline,’ is taken from the breakout UK metal band’s debut album, Devoured By The Mouth Of Hell, which was released last week, via Century Media Records. Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “Opaline addresses the need to accept that sometimes you must sit with the truth alone, however isolating it may be, until others are ready to understand it. It emphasises trusting your instincts but forgiving yourself for the times you couldn’t. This is the first song we’ve released with predominantly clean vocals and is in a direction we’ve not experimented with before.” [via Distorted Sound]

Enemy Inside is back with a vengeance, releasing their new single and video, ‘Should Have Known Better’. The modern metal outfit delivers a track that blends fierceness and finesse, unafraid to challenge and redefine the genre. The lyrics drive this message home with a steadfast resolve, showcasing the band’s knack for blending introspective storytelling with raw emotion and heavy-hitting energy, digging deep into themes of betrayal and resilience. “It’s a reminder that you cannot look into someone’s head and should watch out for those uninterested in your success and well-being,” the band explains. “It’s for all the fake friends talking behind your back or only sticking around in your best moments but not at your worst. You tried to play the wrong person – you should have known better.” The accompanying music video mirrors the song’s fierce narrative. Frontwoman Nastassja Giulia takes on the role of a high-society icon, confidently dominating a high-stakes gambling table. The video, crafted by Nastassja alongside creative collaborator and guitarist Evan K, and mixed and mastered by Christoph Wieczorek, seamlessly intertwines sophistication and defiance. It captures the essence of the song’s message — standing strong in the face of betrayal, reclaiming power, and serving a taste of karma to those who have underestimated you. ]via Brave Words]

Groundbreaking Germany raised, London relocated artist Mimi Barks erupts with her intoxicating new single ‘WORMGIRL’. With the release of Mimi Barks’ anticipating debut full-length album THIS IS DOOM TRAP out in just over a month, ‘WORMGIRL’ sees Mimi Barks take things to a whole new level with the addition of featuring LA-based artist Raven Gray, who offers a contrasting ethereal vocal to Mimi Barks’ self-christened DOOM TRAP world. Commenting on the new single Mimi Barks shares, ”You look like you could be my fix. I’m ready to be destroyed by you. Leave me where you hurt me and I’ll writhe in the blood in isolation. Out of the other end of it. Here‘s what you’ve created; The worm enclosed to an angel of vengeance.” After collaborating with Mimi Barks on ‘WORMGIRL’, Raven Gray mentions, “I was kept inside your chrysalis now look what has become.. WORMGIRL.”

BEX shares new single ‘Taste Better’. ‘Taste Better’ is co-written and produced by WARGASM’s Sam Matlock. A personal battlecry for every woman who has been belittled by men. BEX says: “It’s about female power, fighting back against the patronising men and condescending tones we know all too well. It’s a fierce track that emphasises female empowerment and rejecting expectations.”

Following last month’s surprising single ‘Turbulence,’ Escuela Grind have now unleashed the second track from their upcoming album Dreams On Algorithms. The grindcore crew share the suitably brutal ‘Concept Of God,’ which they say is about “the chaos that ensues when humans come together; the good and bad things that happen when opposites and like-minded individuals attract. The main lyrics in the song are, ‘The concept of god only exists because of people.’” [via Kerrang!]

Having treated festival fans to the track live over the summer, Heriot have now released ‘At The Fortress Gate’ in its full studio glory. The single is taken from the band’s debut album Devoured By The Mouth Of Hell – which is due out on September 27 via Century Media – and follows previous ragers ‘Foul Void’ and ‘Siege Lord’. “’At The Fortress Gate’ blends elements from both our early and newer influences,” say Heriot in a collective statement. “It’s been one of our favourite unreleased tracks to perform live over this festival season, and we can’t wait to add it in the set for the Fit For An Autopsy tour later this year!” [via Kerrang!]

REDHOOK have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Pyromaniac’, is the brand new single from the Australian alternative rock band and follows on from their previous single, ‘Cannibal,’ which was released back in June. The new song was produced by Stevie Knight [STAND ATLANTIC] and mixed by James Paul Wisner [UNDEROATH, PARAMORE] and its accompanying music video was directed by frequent REDHOOK collaborator Colin Jeffs of Ten Of Swords Media [Imposter, Cannibal]. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Emmy Mack says, “’Pyromaniac’ is a song about making an urgent decision to get professional help with your mental health. It soundtracks this brutally catalytic moment – standing alone in the wreckage of your past mistakes and desperately resolving to change before it kills you. To figure out the root of your self-destructive patterns so you can finally break them. It’s about reflecting on every bridge you’ve ever burnt and asking for help to figure out how to not burn anymore.” [via Distorted Sound]

Four-piece Bristolian alt-metal act MALLAVORA unleashes their destructive new single, ‘SKIN,’ and signs to Marshall Records as they gear up for their debut at this year’s Download festival. As winners of Kerrang! Radio’s THE DEAL competition, the band recorded at The Marshall Studio, produced by the infamous Mikey Demus of Skindred, the band’s latest offering, delves deep into the theme of individuality and defiance against societal norms. ‘Skin’ takes inspiration from Jessica Douek’s personal journey and the challenges of navigating a world that often expects conformity. “It’s about feeling different and being utterly defiant about it,” says Douek. “I have always felt different. I have struggled to understand people and the world around me, and I feel there are unspoken rules I’m unaware of. As a result, I have felt alienated.” Guitarist Larry Sobieraj adds, “The initial idea for the track came during a time where I was feeling utterly frustrated, confused and exhausted by a lifetime of feeling different. We all connected with this topic as a band, and the song evolved from there. I think the result is a true reflection of the feelings we wanted to impart, and Mikey did a great job of helping us craft the emotion into the song.”

Creative powerhouse and genre-collision experimenteer BEX is back with a new single ‘Fight’. ‘Fight’ is a rallying cry in the wake of a relationship breakdown with BEX’ signature scuzzed-up, grumbling basslines propelling a proper punchy chant. The combative track arrives as she looks towards a number of festival performances this summer, as well as a newly-announced headline date at London’s Omeara on 1st November. As BEX says, “’Fight’ is not a love song, it’s the opposite. It’s an acceptance of embarrassment. Loving someone to then have it thrown in your face is embarrassing, when you try your hardest, never fight, and you’re getting along so well, it can be so confusing to find out they were never loyal. Fight is about how blind sighted I was, for so long and the way the whole situation made me feel in the end. Truth is, you never know another person, and trust should never come easy, that’s what I have learnt – you have to let people EARN your trust. Don’t just give it away.”

Heriot have announced their debut album, Devoured by the Mouth of Hell, due September 27 via Century Media. It was recorded with Will Putney (of END, Fit For An Autopsy, Better Lovers) and Josh Middleton (Sylosis, ex-Architects), and it features recent single ‘Siege Lord’ as well as the just-released ‘Foul Void,’ which opens the album. Like the last single, it offers up a futuristic blend of metalcore, death metal, industrial, and more, and the band says it “delves into the inner struggle of an individual facing uncertainties about their faith.” [via Brooklyn Vegan]

Poppy has released an absolutely banging new single, ‘New Way Out’. The musician has followed up last year’s 4/5-rated Zig album – plus mind-blowing 2024 collabs with Bad Omens and Knocked Loose – with a brilliant new tune that leans towards the heavier end of what she’s done across her genre-defying career so far. Bonus: it also features the production work of Jordan Fish, who, since departing Bring Me The Horizon in December, has been busy in the studio with everyone from Architects to Spiritbox – and now Poppy!
EPICA singer Simone Simons has released the official music video for her second solo single, ‘In Love We Rust’. The track is taken from her debut solo album, Vermillion, which will be made available on August 23 via Nuclear Blast Records. Simone, who has been a pioneering force within the world of metal for over two decades as part of EPICA, worked on Vermillion with her musical partner and longtime collaborator Arjen Lucassen (AYREON). Arjen is no stranger to Simone’s soaring operatic voice, one that can stir even a gargoyle’s stone heart to tears. Together they have crafted a sonic universe that befits the influential figure she is. Vermillion emerges as a gargantuan goose-bump generator, a universally touching, stellar tour de force. Simone and Arjen state about ‘In Love We Rust’: “The video was filmed in just one take to keep it as pure and raw as possible. We opted to keep it in black and white so as not to distract from the song or the performance. ‘In Love We Rust’ is quite different from our first single ‘Aeterna’, which shows how diverse this album is. This is one of our favorite songs. We hope you love this as much as we do.” [via Blabbermouth]

European quintet ANKOR have signed to UNFD, and released their first single for the independent heavy label. The band – fronted by Bristol vocalist Jessie Williams, and completed by guitarists David Romeu and Fito Martinez, and bassist Julio López, all from Spain, and drummer Eleni Nota from Athens – have joined forces with UNFD to help propel their next era, having already been building up a dedicated fanbase for the past 20 years. And that’s helped further with the release of new single and video ‘Embers’, which Jessie explains is “a song that mixes EDM with classical ANKOR melodies. A song about dealing with loss and grief. We recorded the music video in a beautiful church in London, and we believe it sends the exact message of the track. “’Embers’ is a journey through the mind of someone living an alternate reality,” she continues, going into detail about the accompanying music video. “Dreaming of what could have been… but the truth is much darker, that’s why we represented it with both dresses. It’s a ceremony of what could have been a wedding and ends up being a funeral, in which she dances alone, knowing none of it will ever happen. It can hit as a negative song, but in her sadness there is hope, as she’ll always be connected to her loss.” [via Kerrang!]

Titled Silhouettes, the sophomore album from the Newcastle-based heavy progressive band Giant Walker follows 2022’s All In Good Time and is scheduled to be released in September this year via Church Road Records. The album will feature the previously released single ‘Make Me’, as well as the newly released ‘Halcion’. Speaking about the creative process behind the new track, guitarist Jamie Southern comments, “The initial idea for the song emerged from a drum groove, although it evolved through several different iterations before culminating into its final form. Sonically, it’s quite dark and angular, and so, when it came to crafting the lyrics, the aim was to encapsulate that feeling of uneasiness that came from the music and weave it into a story. It just so happened that amidst writing the song, I ended up watching a documentary about a serial killer, which felt very fitting to the music, and so, this ultimately shaped the lyrical direction Halcion took.” [via Distorted Sound]

Sydney rebellious rockers Wicked Envy have premiered their formidable new single called ‘Final Descent’. The dominating new track commands attention, taking you on a gut-wrenching final journey through flight. “’Final Descent’ is about the fear of flying and dying in a plane crash,” explains vocalist Desiree Hancock. “I decided to write this song, cause It’s a very relatable topic, as many of my family and friends struggle with this fear of Aerophobia, especially when travelling overseas. The eerie whispering voices and haunting vocals are evident throughout the song to create a sombre feel, as if these voices are from the dead.”The thumping guitars in the main riff/ chorus and pounding drums bring out the emotional, gut-wrenching feelings like turbulence on a flight we have all been taken on. You never know when your number is up. This song is based on the movie Final Destination! As I’m a massive fan of the movie and horror films in general, I thought it would be thrilling to write about a plane crash and the audience left with one question. Will this be the end?“ [via Heavy Mag]

Montreal, Canada’s avant-garde metal duo Disorientation returns with their sophomore EP Survival Mode to follow their 2021 self-titled debut. A more blunt and straightforward record than its predecessor, the 16-minute, 3-track EP bends extreme metal, noise, and hardcore influences at its will pushing the envelope with unorthodox vocal lines, odd structures, and dissonant oboe and English Horn arrangements to create a strong emotional reaction to reflect tactics for psychological survival in unpleasant situations. To introduce fans to the forthcoming record, Disorientation is unveiling the opening track ‘Dissociation’. The musical extremes from this song reflect the coexistence of harshness and vulnerability that dissociation can create between oneself and surroundings. The band comments on the track: “As soon as we started writing ‘Dissociation’, we knew this was the ideal opener for the EP. Contrary to the opening song ‘Break Down’ from our previous effort, ‘Dissociation’ does not waste any time and starts moving right from the start. It was the ideal song to showcase first because it encompasses the wide range of musical and style elements that make up the Disorientation sound.”

Fragment Soul has embarked on an exciting journey, sealing a remarkable partnership with Wormholedeath for the reissue of their album, Galois Paradox, a masterpiece of poetic darkness and musical brilliance. The album is set to re-enter the world on February 23, 2024. Characterized by a profoundly mysterious and dark sound that beautifully merges with the enchanting depths of progressive metal, Fragment Soul is not your everyday band. For a captivating glimpse into the melancholic beauty of Fragment Soul, check out their music video for ‘Eternal Night in Death’ below.

Modern metal formidable force Conspiracy of Blackness is proud to unveil their spellbinding and emotionally charged dual-track spectacle, ‘Oblivion / Rise.’ Directed by the visionary Raoul Noise from Novarolfilm, this cinematic journey plunges audiences into a realm where the ethereal meets the intense—a world where ‘Oblivion’ delicately caresses the senses while ‘Rise’ commands with raw, visceral power. In this visually captivating narrative, the songs entwine seamlessly, transcending the boundaries between dreams and reality. Nightmares materialize into a dark and mystical universe, echoing the profound depth of human emotion. “The intertwined melodies of ‘Oblivion’ and ‘Rise’ echo our deepest fears and unleash the fury of inner demons,” shares the band. “These tracks are a raw reflection of the relentless battles against insecurities and the shadows that haunt our daily lives.”

Rock band New Years Day is excited to announce their 5th studio album, Half Black Heart, is set to be released on March 1, 2024. The band has also today shared their new song ‘Secrets’. About the new song, Ash Costello says: “’Secrets’ is about something I feel we have all been through at some point. With this song, I started by confronting myself with the question, “What is truly disturbing me right now?”. The answer that echoed in my mind was simple yet profound: secrets. We’ve all experienced that unsettling sensation when we sense that someone close to us is concealing something. It’s an intuitive feeling that gnaws at our core, leaving us with a sinking sensation in our stomachs. The weight of these hidden truths can be enough to bury you. This song serves as a realization that enough is enough.”

Get ready for a thrilling symphonic metal journey as the talented Beyond God sets its sights on a remarkable musical horizon. This Dutch sensation has signed a deal with Wormholedeath for their highly anticipated album The Great Divide, slated for release on December 8. The magic begins with the release of their latest single, ‘A Siren’s Cry,’ a spellbinding composition that will immerse you in the rich tapestry of the band’s symphonic metal.

SKARLETT RIOT have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Hold Tight’, is the brand new single from the UK alternative metal band and follows on from their previous single, ‘Chemicals,’ which was released back in August. Speaking about the new single, the band says, “we are excited to bring you our 2nd new single this year ‘Hold Tight’. It’s ok not to be ok, ‘Hold Tight’ expresses the importance of speaking up about how we truly feel, reaching out to someone when times get tough and how no one should feel they have to face their problems alone.” [via Distorted Sound]

Escuela Grind, arguably one of the hardest working acts in all of metal, is back with a new EP dubbed DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL due out January 12. The EP was mixed by Kurt Ballou (High On Fire, Gatecreeper, etc.), mastered by Nick Townsend (Cheap Trick, Dr. Dre), and even features a guest spot from Napalm Death vocalist Barney Greenway on the song ‘Meat Magnet’. In the meantime, you can get your head torn the fuck off by ‘Ball And Chain’. The single features a video directed by Michael Jari Davidson (Alice In Chains) and recorded at a recent festival performance in Mexico City. “DDEEAATHHMMEETTAALL is the third installment of our EP series where we dive into the genres that most influence this band,” said Escuela Grind vocalist Katerina Economou. “Finishing this trilogy has been years in the works. We are so excited to release these songs as they are perhaps the best reflection of our live performance. The stage has honed these hectic songs to perfection. Originally we were going to have three songs on this EP, but we wanted to create another track that had a huge buildup. This eventually developed into this brutal song, ‘Ball and Chain’, that marks the point in our live shows where we have a wall of death every night. Lyrically, it references death metal tropes of murder and revenge, but with a decidedly feminine angle.” [via Metal Injection]

Heriot have announced their signing to worldwide metal powerhouse Century Media, and they’re celebrating by dropping a disgustingly heavy new song called ‘Soul Chasm.’ Like the tracks on their 2022 EP, Profound Morality (released via Church Road Records), this new one contains volcanic cascades of HM-2 guitar riffs, devilish metalcore howls and a pulverizing groove that recalls the mechanized attack of Godflesh’s Streetcleaner. “‘Soul Chasm’ illustrates the internal struggle for peace, revealing our tendency to be unkind to ourselves and how the fear of failure can dim the vibrancy of our existence,” the band said in a press release.
Break Me Down proudly present its first single with the new line-up: ‘See Me Fall’. A radical change of genre that primarily emphasizes the versatility of the musicians and, above all, the singing skills of the singer Veronica Driven. Laerte, founder and guitarist of the band, explains the concept behind the new single: “We were inspired by the villains in fairy tales. We wanted to give them a voice and tell their story, their feelings. Because in real life, when we are wronged, each of us can become bad and feel the desire to do evil, to take revenge. It is not true that we are only good or only bad. It depends on the situations we live in and which we are forced to face. With this song our bad side wins. The song tells about Stefano’s betrayal of Maleficent who, feeling hurt, becomes evil to get her revenge and in the end she gets it! With this new work we wanted to change direction, and we pushed ourselves towards harder sounds that could help us to better express the issues we faced “. Veronica, regarding the video, adds: “During the filming of the video, inspired by Stefano’s betrayal of Maleficent, there were some funny episodes: in particular several scenes required that the actress in the role of Maleficent at some point blinded by anger, spat in the direction of the actor who impersonated Stefano. The girl, a busker – street artist – who sings the songs of Disney’s princesses to the children, was in total embarrassment because this gesture was the most distant from her and she didn’t know how to do it. The scene was redone about a dozen times because it was a constant laugh… ah! Don’t be scared, we know that the virus is still around, between the two protagonists there was a Plexiglas wall and no actor was bullied during the shooting”. The story in the music video has a never-seen-before characteristic. There will be a double ending to the events: the ultimate destiny of the protagonists is in the hands of the viewer, who is in charge of deciding the outcome of the story! The only piece of advice we can give you is simply to behave just like with Marvel movies… do not run away when the credits are rolling!

Heriot make metalcore that’s so ear-bleedingly heavy — nuclear-sized bass rumbles, head-bashing drums and skin-searing guitar tones — it’ll send death and black metal purists back to the practice room with their heads hung in shame. Their long-awaited debut EP, Profound Morality, does offer a few stray moments of eerie cleans and ambient swells to temporarily stop the bleeding, but standout ‘Carmine (Fills the Hollow)’ supplies no such respite. Just cruel sonic subordination from start to finish — which is what Heriot do best. [via Revolver]

While Yatra‘s 2020 album dragged tattered black-metal vocals into their churning sludge-stoner jams, no fan could’ve guessed that their next LP would be a full front-flip into straight-up death metal. But that’s what happened, and we’re here for it. ‘Death Cantation’ is faster than anything the Maryland crew have ever penned, with galloping blast-beats and head-crushing groove breaks rumbling beneath deliciously savage OSDM riffage that’s imbued with an ever-so-slight trace of their bluesy origins. The vocals are utterly monstrous. [via Revolver]

The Machinist has had one hell of a time throughout the pandemic, between line-up changes and personal struggles. Now the band is airing out all their anger and frustration in a new single called ‘All Is Not Well’ and is it excellent. Sure it’s pissed, but the writing and the performance of the song really bring that anger to life in a pointed way. “Writing and recording for this album was incredible. I worked with both Ricky Armelino and my fiancé Brian Ginzberg to put together the best possible lyrics, vocal melodies and patterns,” said vocalist Amanda Gjelaj. “Also, I wanted to make sure that what The Machinist believes in, stands for and are against as a band is heard. ‘All is Not Well’ and ‘P.I.G.’, for example, are both completely different songs speaking about different issues with different sounds to them. Throughout the whole album numerous things are brought up from mental health, aliens, losing a loved one and political and global issues. It has variety and a lot of meaning. I really hope it connects with our fans as this is something I personally love to do and I know the rest of The Machinist does as well.” The Machinist’s new album All Is Not Well is out July 8.
The time has come to wield your sword and charge back to the battlefield, as this summer, Finnish heavy metal force BATTLELORE returns with a brand new record. Following their previously released first single ‘Firekeeper’, now the Lappeenranta-based fantasy metal warriors showcase their exceptional songwriting skills and an exceptional band returning to the scene after more than 10 years with brand new track ‘Chambers Of Fire’. Guitarist Jyri Vahvanen reveals: ”‘Chambers Of Fire’ presents the heavier side of our new album The Return Of The Shadow with its pounding riffs and thundering drums, roaring over you like a cave troll! The song is about the great forge inside the fiery tunnels of great Mount Doom, where the One Ring is created and eventually destroyed. Fire and brimstone from the heart of darkness!” [via Rock n Load Mag]
