Sci-Fi alt-metallers SICK N’ BEAUTIFUL make a triumphant comeback with their latest single, ‘My Wounds’ out now via Frontiers Records. The band’s fervently awaited single, accompanied by an electrifying video, will coincide with the start of an extensive European tour, igniting the stage alongside Cradle Of Filth and Wednesday 13.

Scottish post-alt-progressive trio Midas Fall drop the third single from their fifth studio album, Cold Waves Divide Us. ‘I Am Wrong’ thunders along on pounding rhythmic drums swirling around heavy swathes of low and delicate melodic highs. The accompanying video by Stephen Alexander keeps pace with a highly kinetic performance by dancer Amber Dollin, who ricochets and contorts to the music against a nocturnal urban landscape. Says Elizabeth Heaton, “A lot of our music comes from a place of sadness and reflection, and takes its time to build and Layer. ‘I Am Wrong’ comes from a much angrier place. We played around with this more aggressive sound using pounding drums and baritone guitars. Lyrically it is about feeling trapped in a situation with someone where you feel never good enough, constantly criticised and like you can never win. When the self-doubt and insecurity turns to the realisation that you are being bullied, the result is a pretty pissed off song. The video was filmed over the course of a night in Glasgow city centre. It is a nod to the 1981 film Possession where a woman becomes possessed in a Metro station. We are big fans of this era of horror so also wanted to integrate some Dario Argento style FX to add to the drama of the song.”

Irish sister/brother duo Greywind continue their impressive return with their new single ‘You’re My Medicine’ – an immaculate emo offering. Killarney’s Steph and Paul O’Sullivan say of the track: “’You’re My Medicine’ is the story of our lives so far. Our story as individuals, our story as a family and our story as Greywind. It is a love letter to our fans for supporting us through our darkest times. They’ve saved us many times over by believing in us, in our music, and by standing with us in the face of trauma, grief, and adversity. Art is a two way street, and they are just as much a part of the songs on this EP as we are.” This track is one of five through which the duo have been weaving intensely personal stories and will be released together as the Antidote EP on March 15 via Version III, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.

Kittie are back! The Canadian metal trailblazers played their first show in five years in fall 2022, then last year they debuted a new song, ‘Vultures,’ during their Sick New World set and saw their classic 2000 anthem ‘Spit’ covered by Poppy. Now, the Lander sisters and Co. have unleashed ‘Eyes Wide Open,’ Kittie’s first new studio-recorded music since 2011’s I’ve Failed You. Premiered earlier this week on SiriusXM, the single — which showcases their knack for catchy, biting, death-metal-inflected heaviness — went wide today, Valentine’s Day, accompanied by a high-octane music video.
Unleash The Archers is back with a powerful new single ‘Green & Glass’ alongside the announcement of their AI inspired concept album Phantoma, due out May 10. The concept behind Phantoma was written by frontwoman and lyricist Brittney Slayes and follows protagonist Phantoma, a Phase 4 / Network Tier 0 unit – model A, through trials of AI gaining sentience on a dystopian, near-future planet earth. “We struggled for a while to decide which song would lead the way for this record, and in the end chose ‘Green & Glass’ because it is the song that inspired the cover artwork, but also because it doesn’t give too much away about the concept behind the album,” said Unleash The Archers of the album and single. “We wanted nothing more than to be able to create a fully cinematic retelling of the story through our music videos, and were so stoked when the boys at RuneGate Studio expressed an interest in learning how to use Stable Diffusion to make our dreams come true! They trained the model on the work of Bo Bradshaw, which gives it a beautifully unique animation style; we got to bring his magnificent t-shirt artwork to life!” [via Metal Injection]

Uplifting hard rock that captivates and moves has been the modus operandi of CloZure since the release of their debut, self-titled record in September 2022. Now, with the addition of new vocalist, Elizabeth Nikollaj, and partnering with a star-studded production team, the band are back with scintillating new single, ‘The Devil Effect.’ The band explains: “’The Devil Effect’ is our first release with Nikollaj fronting CloZure. With the guidance of award winning producer Malcolm Springer, we were really able to push the boundaries of our music on the new track. The song is really an anti-Valentines Day anthem. It’s about being scorned by those you call close, and then to find your real family, your army, and call them out as you rise above. Like Nikollaj says in the track, “from ashes to my throne”. We’re beyond excited to share this and hope our fans old and new love it like we do!” [via Outburn]

ILLUMISHADE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Riptide’, is taken from the Swiss symphonic metal band’s upcoming new album, Another Side Of You, which is scheduled to be released on Friday. Speaking about the new song, the band says, “’Riptide’ tempts the listener with promises of absolution and carelessness. But beware, everything comes at a price. Will you succumb to its tidal temptation or will you hold on to the dilemmas and rewards of our earthly existence?” [via Distorted Sound]

Hand Of Juno’s new single, ‘Psychotic Banana,’ is a raw and unflinching exploration of addiction and dependency. This track delves deep into the complex emotions and sensations tied to moments of surrender to various cravings, from substances to relationships. ‘Psychotic Banana’ addresses the universal struggle with dependency, portraying the initial allure, subsequent euphoria and anger, and the ensuing chaos one wishes never to escape. Accompanied by a visually striking music video, the single offers a surreal portrayal of addiction’s grip on the human psyche. The video’s captivating imagery complements the song’s themes, providing a powerful visual and auditory experience. Immerse yourself in the sonic and visual world they’ve crafted and experience the raw power of their latest video. The band say, “This song addresses addiction. In our lives, we have all experienced some form of dependency, whether it be on substances, medications, games, technology, alcohol, or relationships. We aimed to explore, both in the lyrics and the music, all the sensations that we go through: initially, the sweet desire to consume the product of our addiction, to which we surrender; then, the euphoria and anger of the next moment, and finally, the total madness from which we never want to escape.” [via Snooze Control]

LUTHARO have released a brand new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Creating A King’, is taken from the Canadian modern metal band’s upcoming new album, Chasing Euphoria, which is scheduled to be released in March this year. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Krista Shipperbottom says, “straighten your crown and sit comfortably on your throne because our new single Creating A King will have you at the edge of your seat. It’s jam packed with soaring leads, racing drums and did we mention a damn catchy chorus?! This song may seem as though it has emerged from a fairytale land but is more than meets the eye. With its main lesson being ‘knowing your worth and not letting anyone take your power away from you,’ this song strives to build strength and confidence within people so they can conquer whatever life throws their way!” [via Distorted Sound]

Infected Rain are kicking off 2024 with a bang. The Moldovan metal band — helmed by powerhouse frontwoman Lena Scissorhands — dropped ‘VIVARIUM,’ the third single off their upcoming sixth album, TIME, and the heaviest so far. The song follows up December’s ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU’ and November’s ‘NEVER TO RETURN,’ and offers a djentier mutation of the group’s singular progressive-meets-nu-metal sound. Crank it above via its high-octane music video. “‘VIVARIUM’ is about feeling trapped in a world we’ve built ourselves,” Infected Rain commented in a joint statement. “A perfect world full of illusion, gimmicks and fake promises, like a beautiful but restricting glass garden. It’s about overcoming these barriers, and seeing through the thick air and tall walls. This song is for everyone trying to break free from their own limits and create their own path.” [via Revolver]

Illumishade is now streaming the super catchy new single ‘Cloudreader’ from their upcoming record Another Side Of You, due out February 16. The single comes alongside a video by Mirko Witzki of Witzki Visions. “‘Cloudreader’ describes our human journey as an ever-flowing tide of decay and renewal from which we can harvest a devout humility,” said Illumishade of the single. “Deeply remedial at its core, this song is a pathfinder for individual peace.” [via Metal Injection]

Australian dark-folk-meets-blackgaze project Suldusk is back with a new single ‘Antithesis’. The single is the title track from Suldusk’s forthcoming new record due out March 1, and you can check it out below alongside a music video by David Xuereb of Grim Reflections. “We are very excited to finally release ‘Anthesis’, which is the title track and first single off the upcoming album,” said Suldusk mastermind Emily Highfield. “Lunar Falls was a one woman project, but the new album is a band venture. This has enabled Suldusk to delve even deeper musically, lyrically and as a live experience. Many thanks to the loyal fans for being ever so patient, and to the great team at Napalm Records. The new music video, for the track ‘Re-Vision’, is taken from the Swedish metal band’s upcoming new album, The Catalyst, which is scheduled to be released in February this year. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, guitarist Olof Mörck says, “it is time for the fourth single from The Catalyst, ‘Re-Vision’, and this time we went all in. Ponderous cyberpunk and synthwave rhythms clash with Amaranthe’s signature sound in an equally thrilling and memorable blend, sure to act as a permanent cybernetic implant into your brain. The prodigious video, once again actualised by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus, serves as the perfect counterpoint to Re-Vision, more ambitious and explosive than any Amaranthe video to date!
Hot on the heels of their November single ‘NEVER TO RETURN,’ Infected Rain are back with ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU,’ another dynamic song showcasing the band’s singular progressive-meets-nu-metal sound. The single — the latest taste of the Moldovan group’s upcoming sixth album, TIME — arrived accompanied by a vivid, gory music video. “In ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU,’ we delve into the paradox of love’s pain, exploring how our deepest affections can lead to our greatest wounds,” Infected Rain commented in a joint statement. “It’s a raw reflection on the vulnerability we expose in love, and how sometimes those we trust most can wield our secrets and fears against us. This song isn’t just about the struggles in relationships; it’s a mirror to the courage it takes to acknowledge and voice this complex reality.” [via Revolver]

Symphonic Metal soprano vocalist/pianist Talia Hoit premieres ‘Whispers in the Storm’, flexing beautiful vocals and astonishing range whilst delivering an operatic and angelic vocal performance in cinematic grandeur. Talia Hoit explains, “The song ’Whispers in the Storm’ is about the moment when someone has been caught up in a bad relationship and they begin to realize the truth that things aren’t really supposed to be happening that way. Since the lyrics use the idea of the whispers in the storm as a metaphor, I wanted to create a visual metaphor in the video with a very stormy scene.” [via Outburn]

Swiss modern metal upstarts Illumishade unveil their magical sophomore record and Napalm Records debut, Another Side of You, out February 16. On their new single cut from the new album, ‘Here We Are’, Erni’s radiant charisma shines brighter than ever with her crystal-clear vocal delivery. Wolf’s guitar work is as blazing and emotional as ever, while a fresh dose of modern prog brings a cutting edge to the band’s elaborate songwriting. The song impresses with a stomping chorus and an exciting variety in its middle passage, and arrives alongside a stunning music video. Illumishade on ‘Here We Are’: “‘Here We Are’ is an anthem to the essence of being in the here and now. It tells about accepting the legacy of history, acknowledging our current standing as a foundation from which we can move forward.” [via Amplify the Noise]

In This Moment releases their brand new single, ‘THE PURGE’ from their forthcoming new studio album GODMODE out October 27 via BMG. The song is accompanied by the official music video directed by Jensen Noen (Ice Nine Kills, Falling In Reverse, Hollywood Undead). “We are thrilled to unveil ‘THE PURGE’ to everyone,” says vocalist Maria Brink. “I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical & cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy.” “This song came from our time in lockdown. We all had our own personal experiences during the pandemic, and we all saw the social unrest unfolding daily tearing us apart, it was such a crazy time,” says guitarist Chris Howorth. Our band, like everything else, was stopped in its tracks. During the lockdown I was sending Maria musical ideas I was working on, and this one really resonated with her. She even said, ‘This is gonna be our first single’. Fast forward a couple years and all the pent-up frustration and angst came pouring out in Maria’s lyrics and performance, creating this crazy visceral song.”

Emerging electro-industrial artist Babychaos has unveiled the video for her latest single ‘Guilty Hands (I Bleed)’. In the vein of contemporaries such as Poppy, Babychaos blends harsh electronics with overt industrial rock/metal elements, such as distorted guitars and vocals. For example, ‘Guilty Hands (I Bleed)’ melds a burgeoning guitar riff with subtle electronic flourishes, resulting in a jolting loud-soft arrangement and unsettling atmospherics. Remarked Babychaos regarding the concept behind the song: “The story behind ‘Guilty Hands’ is one I’ve been clinging onto for years — and now it’s finally come to fruition and is out of my system for good. Throughout 2022 I found myself constantly writing as a way to cope with occurrences in my life I couldn’t control.” She continued: “I’ve found through experience that when we feel we don’t have control over an aspect of our lives, we resort to a need to control other aspects, sometimes in unexpected and disturbing ways: That was the inspiration for this track and video. Thanks to music producer Enrico Tiberi we created the complex beast of this song taking influence from European metal, American hard rock, and horror movie worthy soundscapes. And with music video producer Joey Durango we were able to bring these visuals to life.” [via Conesquence]

Louisiana metallic hardcore band Capra have announced that they’ll follow their 2021 debut LP In Transmission with sophomore album Errors on October 6 via Metal Blade/Blacklight. It was produced and tracked by Andrew Hernandez (This Will Destroy You, Mammoth Grinder, etc) at Estuary Recording Studios in Austin, mixed by Taylor Young, and mastered by Brad Boatright, the latter two of whom also worked on In Transmission. Walls of Jericho‘s Candace Kucsulain-Puopolo guests on ‘Human Commodity’ and Glassing‘s Dustin Coffman provided backing vocals on multiple tracks. “I knew that I wanted it to pick up where the first album left off, but that it needed to have an entirely new attitude,” says guitarist Tyler Harper. “If you listen to the last song from In Transmission into the first song on Errors, it’s a continuation. From there the album steers off into a direction that still feels similar, but is new.” The first single is ‘Tied Up,’ a killer offering of riffy, sludgy hardcore with some echoes of Every Time I Die–and not just because the drummer is wearing an ETID shirt in the video–and vocalist Crow Lotus tops it off with tangible, impassioned fury.
DEATH DEALER UNION have announced their debut album. Titled Initiation, the upcoming album from the Los Angeles-based alternative power metal band is their debut full-length album and is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Napalm Records. Alongside the announcement of the debut album, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album;’ The Vow Of Silence’. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, the band says, “’The Vow Of Silence’ is an upbeat song, blending heavy/melodic harmonies with both aggressive and clean vocals. The video was shot in a historic castle in Los Angeles, CA dating back to the 1800s, and perfectly fits the image of the band and the vibration of the song. Join us in this mystical moment, now immortalized in a music video! We present to you: ‘The Vow Of Silence’. We hope you enjoy! More to come very soon!” [via Distorted Sound Mag]
