BRAT have shared a new song and video, ‘Hesitation Wound,’ and revealed more details about their upcoming debut album Social Grace. It’s a 97-second deathgrindy metalcore rager with a three-and-a-half minute video that stars BRAT working and performing in a 24-hour diner, and you can check it out below. March 1 will see Australian dark folk/blackgaze project SULDUSK herald the new year with the release of their much-awaited sophomore studio offering, entitled Anthesis, via Napalm Records. Following the release of the Melbourne-based act’s first single and album title track, today, SULDUSK are premiering a music video for their gripping new single, ‘Crystalline.’ Band mastermind Emily Highfield reveals: “‘Crystalline’ is a sequel track to ’Nazare’, which is on Lunar Falls, the first SULDUSK album. Nature – its beauty and brutality – is definitely a powerful muse for SULDUSK’s music, and both these tracks are an homage to the power and the solace of the Ocean. Infected Rain have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Lighthouse’, is taken from the Moldovan metal band’s new album, Time. Young metalcore star Harper has shared her first new single of 2024, ‘I Hope You Choke’. The heavy new track follows 2022 debut effort ‘Falling’ and last year’s ‘Weight Of The World’ (which was written by Brand Of Sacrifice’s Leo Valeri and featured We Came As Romans’ Dave Stephens), and arrives ahead of her first-ever live performance at Download Festival in the summer – which, come June, will make her the youngest artist to grace the Donington stage. Illumishade is now streaming the super catchy new single ‘Cloudreader’ from their upcoming record Another Side Of You, due out February 16. Australian dark-folk-meets-blackgaze project Suldusk is back with a new single ‘Antithesis’. Exit Eden have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Femme Fatale’, is taken from the symphonic metal supergroup’s new album, Femmes Fatales, out now. Amaranthe have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Re-Vision’, is taken from the Swedish metal band’s upcoming new album, The Catalyst, which is scheduled to be released in February this year. Symphonic Metal soprano vocalist/pianist Talia Hoit premieres ‘Whispers in the Storm’, flexing beautiful vocals and astonishing range whilst delivering an operatic and angelic vocal performance in cinematic grandeur. Talia Hoit explains, “The song ’Whispers in the Storm’ is about the moment when someone has been caught up in a bad relationship and they begin to realize the truth that things aren’t really supposed to be happening that way. Since the lyrics use the idea of the whispers in the storm as a metaphor, I wanted to create a visual metaphor in the video with a very stormy scene.” [via Outburn]

Symphonic metal Vikings, LEAVES’ EYES, have revealed first details about their new album to be released in 2024 with AFM Records. The band’s ninth studio offering will be titled Myths Of Fate. The band unveiled their album cover artwork and a music video for the first album single, ‘Forged By Fire’. Swiss modern metal upstarts Illumishade unveil their magical sophomore record and Napalm Records debut, Another Side of You, out February 16. Fronted by vocalist Fabienne Erni and guitarist Jonas Wolf (both of Eluveitie) and completed with orchestration and synths by film composer Mirjam Skal, bass by Yannick Urbanczik, and drums by Marc Friedrich, Illumishade skillfully balances all things both dark and light on Another Side of You. On their new single cut from the new album, ‘Here We Are’, Erni’s radiant charisma shines brighter than ever with her crystal-clear vocal delivery. Wolf’s guitar work is as blazing and emotional as ever, while a fresh dose of modern prog brings a cutting edge to the band’s elaborate songwriting. With touchdown imminent for Cosmic Chronicles: Act 1, The Ascension their debut album on May 12, Kansas’ cosmic doom crew They Watch Us From The Moon are ready to fire off another track from it. ‘On The Fields Of The Moon’ is the opening number and pretty much nails the band’s unique sound and what they’re about. Cosmic space opera with heavy layered riffs ’n’ textures. Plus the fabulously melodic dual vocal harmonies of Luna Nemesis and Nova 10101001, which really take their sound to another level. Think ABBA ‘with riffs’. It sums up the scope of their debut perfectly. The band has this to say about the track: “’On The Fields Of The Moon’ is an epic ditty about the tide of an intergalactic battle turning against our human heroes. A war march with soaring vocal harmonies reminiscent of Alice In Chains/ABBA/OTTN-era Def Leppard.” Plus, there is a trippy and fittingly space age new video to go with it. 50’s sci-fi movies mixed with glam rock and an 80’s vibe in this psychedelic tale of alien abduction. All clashing colours and ‘Liquid Len’ (of Hawkwind fame) lightshow visuals, one can imagine that this lot are quite something to see live.

Metalcore trio Halocene have shared their brand new single ‘Maleficent’. ‘Maleficent’ – a darkly confident track about finding your own voice in spite of others’ doubts and opinions – is the title track and latest single from the band’s forthcoming EP, out May 19. The band shares: “’Maleficent’ is about finding self confidence and embracing who you are, despite the way outside voices may perceive you. The hate becomes fuel for your fire, and if being yourself makes you evil, then so be it.”

Burning Witches have released a new music video. The new music video, for track ‘World On Fire’, is taken from the Swiss heavy metal band’s new album, The Dark Water. Speaking about the new single, the band says, “The new single ‘World On Fire’ features relentless double-bass power, massive guitars and catchy melodies – this is a typical up-tempo WITCHES banger that defines this new record really well!
