Rock band New Years Day is excited to share ‘Half Black Heart’, the title track from their forthcoming 5th studio album. “‘Half Black Heart’ is my anthem!” shares vocalist Ash Costello. “The concept behind it is simple yet powerful – no one is purely one thing. Nobody is so flawless that they have the right to pass judgment on someone else’s flaws. We all exist as a mix of good and bad, innocence and guilt, a bit angelic and a bit devilish.” She continues: “The message is rooted in the idea that “he who is without sin can cast the first stone,” meaning that no one is in a position to judge because everyone makes mistakes. I don’t believe in the idea of a flawless human being, and this song is my way of addressing those who may expect perfection from me. Essentially, it’s a declaration that neither I nor anyone else will ever be perfect.”

BRAT have shared a new song and video, ‘Hesitation Wound,’ and revealed more details about their upcoming debut album Social Grace. It’s a 97-second deathgrindy metalcore rager with a three-and-a-half minute video that stars BRAT working and performing in a 24-hour diner, and you can check it out below. The album will be out March 15 via Prosthetic. [via Brooklyn Vegan]

March 1 will see Australian dark folk/blackgaze project SULDUSK herald the new year with the release of their much-awaited sophomore studio offering, entitled Anthesis, via Napalm Records. Following the release of the Melbourne-based act’s first single and album title track, today, SULDUSK are premiering a music video for their gripping new single, ‘Crystalline.’ Band mastermind Emily Highfield reveals: “‘Crystalline’ is a sequel track to ’Nazare’, which is on Lunar Falls, the first SULDUSK album. Nature – its beauty and brutality – is definitely a powerful muse for SULDUSK’s music, and both these tracks are an homage to the power and the solace of the Ocean. Coming from Australia, which is an isolated island, nature here is abundant and always a source of inspiration.” [via Outburn]

Infected Rain have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Lighthouse’, is taken from the Moldovan metal band’s new album, Time. Speaking about the song, the band shares, “from the shores of our minds to the reality of our lives, ‘Lighthouse’ represents a power that we hold inside of us. This track reminds us that the universe dances to the rhythm of our thoughts. All our thoughts are waves in the endless galaxy of creation. It’s a call to stay strong, to remain devoted to your dreams, and to realize the potential of what you can create. In the grand clockwork of Time, every second is a chance to surf through your reality, shaping it with the power of your mind. Join us on this journey through Time, where each song is a tick towards a reality crafted by you, for you.” [via Distorted Sound]

Infected Rain are kicking off 2024 with a bang. The Moldovan metal band — helmed by powerhouse frontwoman Lena Scissorhands — dropped ‘VIVARIUM,’ the third single off their upcoming sixth album, TIME, and the heaviest so far. The song follows up December’s ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU’ and November’s ‘NEVER TO RETURN,’ and offers a djentier mutation of the group’s singular progressive-meets-nu-metal sound. Crank it above via its high-octane music video. “‘VIVARIUM’ is about feeling trapped in a world we’ve built ourselves,” Infected Rain commented in a joint statement. “A perfect world full of illusion, gimmicks and fake promises, like a beautiful but restricting glass garden. It’s about overcoming these barriers, and seeing through the thick air and tall walls. This song is for everyone trying to break free from their own limits and create their own path.” [via Revolver]

Illumishade is now streaming the super catchy new single ‘Cloudreader’ from their upcoming record Another Side Of You, due out February 16. The single comes alongside a video by Mirko Witzki of Witzki Visions. “‘Cloudreader’ describes our human journey as an ever-flowing tide of decay and renewal from which we can harvest a devout humility,” said Illumishade of the single. “Deeply remedial at its core, this song is a pathfinder for individual peace.” [via Metal Injection]

Australian dark-folk-meets-blackgaze project Suldusk is back with a new single ‘Antithesis’. The single is the title track from Suldusk’s forthcoming new record due out March 1, and you can check it out below alongside a music video by David Xuereb of Grim Reflections. “We are very excited to finally release ‘Anthesis’, which is the title track and first single off the upcoming album,” said Suldusk mastermind Emily Highfield. “Lunar Falls was a one woman project, but the new album is a band venture. This has enabled Suldusk to delve even deeper musically, lyrically and as a live experience. Many thanks to the loyal fans for being ever so patient, and to the great team at Napalm Records. Much love, Emily.” [via Metal Injection]

Exit Eden have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Femme Fatale’, is taken from the symphonic metal supergroup’s new album, Femmes Fatales, out now. Speaking about the new song, the band says, “when our paths initially crossed years ago, we were strangers and became friends, allies, sisters in crime… With the song Femme Fatale, we turned the tables, played with our own cards and established new rules. We set ourselves free from prejudice and limitations, embracing our true nature and femininity, regaining our power to stand as modern witches — resilient, liberated, we ARE Femmes Fatales.” [via Distorted Sound]

Amaranthe have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Re-Vision’, is taken from the Swedish metal band’s upcoming new album, The Catalyst, which is scheduled to be released in February this year. Speaking about the new song and its accompanying music video, guitarist Olof Mörck says, “it is time for the fourth single from The Catalyst, ‘Re-Vision’, and this time we went all in. Ponderous cyberpunk and synthwave rhythms clash with Amaranthe’s signature sound in an equally thrilling and memorable blend, sure to act as a permanent cybernetic implant into your brain. The prodigious video, once again actualised by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus, serves as the perfect counterpoint to Re-Vision, more ambitious and explosive than any Amaranthe video to date! As predictions from the 80s Artificial Intelligence seem to become truer every day, we are ready to serve you a cataclysmic yet captivating foresight into the future of AMARANTHE: Re-Visioned.” [via Distorted Sound]

Hot on the heels of their November single ‘NEVER TO RETURN,’ Infected Rain are back with ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU,’ another dynamic song showcasing the band’s singular progressive-meets-nu-metal sound. The single — the latest taste of the Moldovan group’s upcoming sixth album, TIME — arrived accompanied by a vivid, gory music video. “In ‘BECAUSE I LET YOU,’ we delve into the paradox of love’s pain, exploring how our deepest affections can lead to our greatest wounds,” Infected Rain commented in a joint statement. “It’s a raw reflection on the vulnerability we expose in love, and how sometimes those we trust most can wield our secrets and fears against us. This song isn’t just about the struggles in relationships; it’s a mirror to the courage it takes to acknowledge and voice this complex reality.” [via Revolver]

Symphonic Metal soprano vocalist/pianist Talia Hoit premieres ‘Whispers in the Storm’, flexing beautiful vocals and astonishing range whilst delivering an operatic and angelic vocal performance in cinematic grandeur. Talia Hoit explains, “The song ’Whispers in the Storm’ is about the moment when someone has been caught up in a bad relationship and they begin to realize the truth that things aren’t really supposed to be happening that way. Since the lyrics use the idea of the whispers in the storm as a metaphor, I wanted to create a visual metaphor in the video with a very stormy scene.” [via Outburn]

Swiss modern metal upstarts Illumishade unveil their magical sophomore record and Napalm Records debut, Another Side of You, out February 16. Fronted by vocalist Fabienne Erni and guitarist Jonas Wolf (both of Eluveitie) and completed with orchestration and synths by film composer Mirjam Skal, bass by Yannick Urbanczik, and drums by Marc Friedrich, Illumishade skillfully balances all things both dark and light on Another Side of You. On their new single cut from the new album, ‘Here We Are’, Erni’s radiant charisma shines brighter than ever with her crystal-clear vocal delivery. Wolf’s guitar work is as blazing and emotional as ever, while a fresh dose of modern prog brings a cutting edge to the band’s elaborate songwriting. The song impresses with a stomping chorus and an exciting variety in its middle passage, and arrives alongside a stunning music video. Illumishade on ‘Here We Are’: “‘Here We Are’ is an anthem to the essence of being in the here and now. It tells about accepting the legacy of history, acknowledging our current standing as a foundation from which we can move forward.” [via Amplify the Noise]

Los Angeles-based Edge Of Paradise will release a new studio album entitled Hologram on July 14, with its title track as a single. Founder members Margarita Monet (vocals) and Dave Bates (lead guitar) have found their perfect partners-in-crime in Jamie Moreno (drums), David Ruiz (rhythm guitar) and Kenny Lockwood (bass). Sounding tighter than ever, the band are ready to blow everyone away with this latest stunning slice of cinematic hard rock.

With touchdown imminent for Cosmic Chronicles: Act 1, The Ascension their debut album on May 12, Kansas’ cosmic doom crew They Watch Us From The Moon are ready to fire off another track from it. ‘On The Fields Of The Moon’ is the opening number and pretty much nails the band’s unique sound and what they’re about. Cosmic space opera with heavy layered riffs ’n’ textures. Plus the fabulously melodic dual vocal harmonies of Luna Nemesis and Nova 10101001, which really take their sound to another level. Think ABBA ‘with riffs’. It sums up the scope of their debut perfectly. The band has this to say about the track: “’On The Fields Of The Moon’ is an epic ditty about the tide of an intergalactic battle turning against our human heroes. A war march with soaring vocal harmonies reminiscent of Alice In Chains/ABBA/OTTN-era Def Leppard.” Plus, there is a trippy and fittingly space age new video to go with it. 50’s sci-fi movies mixed with glam rock and an 80’s vibe in this psychedelic tale of alien abduction. All clashing colours and ‘Liquid Len’ (of Hawkwind fame) lightshow visuals, one can imagine that this lot are quite something to see live.

Metalcore trio Halocene have shared their brand new single ‘Maleficent’. ‘Maleficent’ – a darkly confident track about finding your own voice in spite of others’ doubts and opinions – is the title track and latest single from the band’s forthcoming EP, out May 19. The band shares: “’Maleficent’ is about finding self confidence and embracing who you are, despite the way outside voices may perceive you. The hate becomes fuel for your fire, and if being yourself makes you evil, then so be it.”

Burning Witches have released a new music video. The new music video, for track ‘World On Fire’, is taken from the Swiss heavy metal band’s new album, The Dark Water. Speaking about the new single, the band says, “The new single ‘World On Fire’ features relentless double-bass power, massive guitars and catchy melodies – this is a typical up-tempo WITCHES banger that defines this new record really well! This forceful anthem will be for sure an epic live banger, that you can find in the set-list very soon. We hope you dig it!” [via Distorted Sound]

Two weeks after the band released their much acclaimed first live album + DVD/BluRay, The Devil’s Dozen, Moldovan progressive modern metal act INFECTED RAIN have surprised their fanbase with not only a brand new song, ‘Dying Light’, but a recent line-up change too.
