Bringing her resilience and considered songwriting into the spotlight, she shared: “I have struggled with OCD since I was about thirteen, it made me feel like I needed to be perfect and it added a lot of pressure to things that I could have enjoyed had they not been clouded by the OCD part of my brain that feels the need to control everything. ‘Suddenly it’s Easy’ is about finding the space to breathe, finding the space to enjoy my life – it’s about being free of the idea that I need to be perfect and just trusting that things are going to be ok.”

“‘Homesick’ was written at the start of last year when I was going through some big life changes. It was a really scary time but there was also this undercurrent of excitement about this unknown future. Listening back to it today makes me feel proud of where I am now . It makes me want to give my younger self a hug to remind her that she’s strong enough to do all the things.”

Izzy explaines more: “I wanted to write an anthem that was laced with the real emotion and aftermath of a confusing chaotic breakup but how that can leave you feeling so strong and invincible and excited about the prospect of what life looks like when you come out the other side. It’s funny because when I wrote it I reckon I wasn’t fully there yet but now that I’m releasing it I really do feel like I’m in that space.

“I want listeners to know how exciting life can be when you let go of the things you cling to. Even though the world is shifting slightly there is still this unspoken narrative that a lot of us feel we need to live up to and unfortunately in many people’s eyes still, success is equivalent to whether you have a house, a husband and a child. I’m daring you not to just settle or conform if a relationship isn’t right.”

Sharing more, she explained: “‘I Swear I Made You Up’ was inspired by one real moment when I met up with someone I once loved and we were acting like strangers. It was a weirdly polite conversation, where we both pretended to be fine like we had put these walls up to protect ourselves.

Focus on your journey and how you feel about you; don’t let someone else’s behavior stunt you or distort your view of yourself. Focus on being a good person for you; everything else is out of your control.”

Sharing more behind the single, Izzy explained: ‘I wrote ‘Refuse’ last January from a future perspective, as if I was trying to guide myself out of the chaos and ahead to a time where I felt stronger and things made more sense.

“Releasing it a year later, it’s clear how healing time can be and I have found so much more peace and clarity now. You’re stronger than you think, find that strength within yourself so that you are your baseline, it’s dangerous to be dependent on other people for your happiness.”

Born from the early stages of a break up, ‘Silly Me’ channels the frustrations of a vicious cycle within a relationship. Sharing more Izzy explained: “‘Silly Me’ was written when emotions were on overdrive and it was easier to feel angry than to feel sad about losing someone that I not only loved but also shared an amazing friendship with. Silly me reflects on all the moments in that relationship where I wasn’t being honest about how certain things were making me feel.

“Don’t lose yourself trying to please someone you love whether that is a friend, partner or a family member. You’re not helping them if you’re not being real and you’ll only cause more pain further down the line.”
