British hip-hop artist Speech Debelle is back in the spotlight with her latest single, ’11:11′, taken from her fourth studio album, Sunday Dinner On a Monday, which is out now. This album marked a significant return to the music scene for the critically acclaimed artist, whose career took off with her Mercury Prize-winning debut album, Speech Therapy, in 2009. ’11:11′ is a track that encapsulates elegance, grace, bravado and rap. Produced by Skripture, with additional production by Dem Drums, the song exudes the energy reminiscent of classic hip-hop. The single arrives alongside an equally impressive music video directed by Aiden Harmitt-Williams. Speaking about ’11:11′, Speech Debelle says, “The track reminded me instantly of classic hip-hop. One month after Australia voted ‘no’ to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, rapper and Malyangapa, Barkindji woman Barkaa has dropped a clapback with the cutting single ‘Division’. ‘Division’ was made before the results were released, and Barkaa had originally hoped that the track would never see the light of day. But as the prospect of a no vote became clear on October 14, she began to ready it for release. In a press statement Barkaa says, “I was just so sad. But then a part of me was like, ‘At least I’m not crazy. Everything I’ve been feeling is real, is the truth. The nation’s rejection of us confirms it.” The accompanying video shows Barkaa ferociously rapping to a man wearing a cap in the Australian green and gold. They sit across from each other, making direct eye contact, as she spits: “I don’t want your table, fuck your table and its weak legs / Fuck your constitution, you can keep it for them rednecks / And everytime you look at us, I hope it makes you fuckers sweat.” [via NME]

Brooklyn star Lola Brooke has released her debut album Dennis Daughter and its third single and music video, ‘Don’t Get Me Started’ featuring Coi Leray and Nija. The Jersey-club inspired track received video treatment from director Ben Mark, showing Lola, Coi and singer/songwriter Nija taking over the streets of Downtown Newark, NJ and Times Square. The high-energy visual sees bikers and club-dancers matching the mood of the tune, as they hit signature Jersey moves like the “running man,” “rock ya hips” and “sexy walk.” [via VIBE]

After recently releasing a collaborative project, The Am3rican Dream, with Jay Worthy and Harry Fraud, Kamaiyah is back with a new single and video for ‘Groupies.’ Along with the new single and video, Kamaiyah has also announced her new album Another Summer Night. The former XXL Freshmen Class member’s swagger and charismatic raps shine through on Another Summer Night, and the funky, freaky spirit of her hometown of Oakland remains a core and vital element in her music. Atlanta rapper/singer/actress and self-proclaimed “theater kid” Baby Tate snatches follicles in a dramatic lip sync competition for ‘Wig,’ inspired by RuPaul’s hit series Drag Race. It’s an anthemic song from her newly released EP, Baby Tate Presents — Sexploration: The Musical. To start things off, Baby Tate dedicates the vignette to members of the trans, drag, and nonbinary communities. From there, she plays a judge alongside Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Luxx Noir London, in an electric lip sync battle that includes spirited dancing, colorful wigs, and feisty competitors who aren’t afraid to snatch them. The hook itself is an incessant command that becomes an engrossing chant. “Gimme your wig, wig, wig, wig,” she repeats over a thumping baseline. The video aligns with the song’s mischievous lyrics and jumpy piano; the animated miming — and the judges’ reaction to it — creates an epic exhibition in camp. As imaginative as it is braggadocious, the video is a fitting visual manifestation of Baby Tate’s technicolor mind — a fertile ground where impulse and big ideas become the stuff of theater. These days, the Oakland rapper Kamaiyah is quietly but steadily cranking out new music. Last year, she came out the three EPs; the most recent, Keep It Lit, is less than a month old. Now, she’s got a new single called ‘Thru The Week,’ and it’s one more example of what she does so well. Over a classic Bay Area beat — slow digital bassline, melodic synth-whines — Kamaiyah goes into breezy singsong mode, casually flexing with an everyday sense of calm. Moni Meechi has shared a new single called ‘Like Whats Up’. Emoni Nycole Millsknown, professionally as Moni Meechi, is an American Hip Hop artist, producer, and songwriter from Raleigh, North Carolina. In her childhood, she was introduced to music by her older cousin, and since then has built a growing discography of songs that harness the bounce and stylishness of southern hip-hop. Her latest, ‘Like Whats Up’, continues this trend with its bass-heavy, sweltering sound and charming bravado. ‘Like Whats Up’ contains swelling bass and rugged synths that are locked in by an infectious drum line. Multi-talented West Coast-based rapper, poet, and singer-songwriter Bre Maa, shares the visuals for her new song ‘Breath of Fresh..’. The Jeraw Beatz-produced track is a smooth fusion of soul and jazz with boom-bap aesthetics underpinned with introspective lyricism. Over the solemn textures, warm basslines and head-nodding drum grooves, Bre takes time to realign with her inner self while dropping some gems for listeners to rock with. With Lines like “So I live right, love hard, nothing more, nothing less/ The truth of God will never have you stressed/ be Blessed”, she attains some form of nirvana while wishing listeners the same. The visual style is reminiscent of the 90s with subtle seamless transitions and performance shots that capture her calm demeanor and the serenity of the set pieces around her. Armenia based artist Brunette has quite a story to tell in her songs. From ‘Gisher’ to ‘Smoke Break’ Brunette encapsulates us, the listeners in her world of smooth and gentle contemplations and thoughts about life, coming of age, love and loss. 

Strongly defined Armenian culture in her lyrics is seen throughout the use of references to Armenian euphemisms and lyrics in her songs. 

Brunette’s release  ‘Gisher’ is about a being the night to her lover, who is the Moon. The love lyric ballad with hip-hip verses, the song travels us one a seductive journey through a car ride with Brunette across a Yerevan at night. 

This theme continues in ‘Smoke Break’, which is almost like the second chapter to ‘Gisher’, the continuation of the relationship and conversation with her lover. 

Brunette is represented by Armenian based producer Nare Manukian. The female duo collaborates together on Brunette’s tracks and artistic vision. 

‘Bac Kapuyt Achqerd’ is the latest release by the singer-songwriter. The song starts with an emotional chorus, which dives into the verse, full of guitar notes and storytelling. With the hypnotic vocals and long lingering “How do I wait, one night, without you, close my eyes, to just wait”, we are diving into the atmosphere of the song, an in-depth journey of the girl’s dream. 

The literal translation of the song is “Revealing Blue Eyes”.  She compares the eyes to the ocean, sea, where the eyes dive her to. 

Brunette premiered the song on The International Coca Cola Music Festival in Yerevan, Armenia, which took place in September last year. 

Following the debut, the release has been at the most successful release of the singer as of today, leading the Apple Music Armenia chart. 

While we are still getting introduced to the Pop music scene in Caucasus, we can with no doubt say that Brunette has defined what modern Armenian pop is.

Released on Friday, ‘Facts’ features braggadocios lyrics that see Ramengvrl playfully take jabs at her haters. “Rumours going around saying I’m that’s label-hopping chick / But I’ve just been going up”, she raps. ‘Facts’ features on Asiatic Records’ new EP, Asiatic.wav, Vol. 1. It’s been a bit since we heard from Oakland rapper Kamaiyah. In September 2020, she released the collaborative EP Oakland Nights with fellow Bay Area artist Capolow. The 10-track EP followed her February 2020 mixtape Got It Made. Now, Kamaiyah has circled back with a new song and video: ‘F.W.I’ featuring Vallejo rapper DaBoii. Seemingly aware of the span of time since she release material, ‘F.W.I’ opens with the words: “Hey Kamaiyah, it’s been a minute since you dropped some shit. Motherfuckers act like you forgot what you do. We here to remind them. We the ones makin’ the slaps. We the one droppin’ the classics. ‘F.W.I’ is set to appear on Kamaiyah’s forthcoming project Divine Timing, out in May. [via Stereogum]

Rising hip-hop artist and female powerhouse, Wowashwow, has shared visuals for her uplifting record ‘Heatwave’. Backed by a punchy and vibrant soundscape, she dwells on the power of self-confidence and being aware of negative vibes and naysayers.
