On single ‘Can’t Stop Me Now,’ KAZIMI shares an anthem of liberation and delivers a whimsical soundscape layered with texture and groove. Written in the middle of the night, it is imprinted with a juicy darkness, both sparkling and lush. She says, “This song is like the light at the end of the tunnel. It is a joyous release that is playful yet fierce. It’s about getting to the other side of troubled waters and feeling that heady sense of relief.”

Recording it was as celebratory as it was cathartic: “Tracking this song was the most fun we had in the studio. There was an unbridled sense of play and that levity seeps into the tune in a way that I love.” Laying down the backing vocals alone in her Manhattan apartment, however, was subject to a host of comical and humbling obstacles: “There were so many takes with cars honking and my dog snoring, but it was freeing to experiment and push the boundaries of what I could do. I unlocked a new world of my artistry in the process and that felt triumphant.”

Of her new single and upcoming LP, KAZIMI wrote: “Making this record, I learned over and over that timelines are not always going to work out the way you think they will. I’ve thrown so many dates out the window because the music wasn’t ready. To now be able to release when there is a cazimi feels like a sweet little nod from the stars. They’re said to be auspicious days to debut a creation to the world and I’ll take all the support I can get.”

Starting sparse with nothing but dry vocals and the purr of a Wurlitzer, ‘River Run’ speaks to the demure isolation of growing up in a small Texas town. When the band and the spacey background vocals arrive in the first chorus, the track blossoms into an affecting story about leaving home in search of something more.
