Glasgow’s Cwfen (pronounced ‘Coven’) have announced that they will be releasing their debut album Sorrows on May 30 via New Heavy Sounds (MWWB, Death Pill, Shooting Daggers). Their music is described as having the glacial ferocity of Amenra, with the velvet-and-razor vocals of King Woman, and the rotting grandeur of Type O Negative.

Brighton-based metal four-piece KNIFE BRIDE have released a killer new single ‘TERRITORY’, as they gear up to head off on tour around the UK with Defects and Profiler later this month. Influenced by the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox and Evanescence, ‘TERRITORY’ brings frontwoman Mollie Clack’s impassioned and compelling vocal to the fore. Mollie says “’Territory’ is a love song, believe it or not. It was written after a hostile exchange and I see it as a kind of diary entry, I guess. It’s very dramatic and purging and really highlights how crazy love can make you.”

Jinjer have announced their upcoming fifth album, Duél, and offered up a new song, the haunting ‘Kafka.’ In contrast to preceding singles ‘Rogue’ and ‘Someone’s Daughter,’ which lean into the Ukrainian band’s heavier, djent-ier inclinations, the latest cut is a slower-burning power ballad — though it does ultimately erupt into crushing riffery and roaring vocals, the latter of courtesy of powerhouse vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk. Finnish band Memoremains drop a new song on the airwaves. The five-piece has already released the singles ‘Toxic Girl’ and ‘Stuck’ earlier this year, but the recently released ‘Fighter’ is a bit different. “Compared to previous singles, ‘Fighter’ is a bit deeper and more atmospheric. As for the vocals, we also searched for new sounds to emphasize the nuances of the composition. In the lyrics, I wanted to deal with friendship and a situation where a loved one is in a challenging place in their life and needs support in making difficult choices. Rising phenom Amira Elfeky has a gravely booming nu-gaze single to get us through the spooky season. Filled with a mix of goth-romantic bleakness, detuned guitar melancholy and heavy existential dread, her latest track is fittingly titled ‘Will You Love Me When I’m Dead.’ The single marks Elfeky’s first release since last June’s ‘Remains of Us’ collaboration with Scarlet House. This time around, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter teamed-up with producers/musicians Zakk Cervini and Andrew Goldstein to drill into this dark-edged, but dreamy piece. ‘Will You Love Me When I’m Dead’ bounces between a driving, early Deftones-like groove, some lightly twitching electronica, and a gravesite disturbing breakdown finale. Previous singles ‘im sad lol’ and ‘PRN’ explored the dystopian and fictional story of Rin, based on real life – a multiverse where ‘variants’ of RinRin reside in alternate worlds, leading different lives that reflect true feelings. The latest offering, ‘FCKNRUN,’ represents a version of RinRin that sees her take on the role of serial casanova, where attachment is her greatest enemy. ALUNAH have announced a new album. Titled Fever Dream, the upcoming album from the Birmingham-based doom band is the follow-up to 2022’s Strange Machine, and is scheduled to be released in September this year, via Heavy Psych Sounds. The upcoming album was produced by Chris Fielding [ELECTRIC WIZARD, CONAN] and features artwork by Stefán Ari [THE VINTAGE CARAVAN]. The album was recorded during the winter of 2024, the atmosphere of the historic Foel Studio allows the groove to flow alongside riff, heft and melody in equal measure. Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new song lifted from the upcoming album; ‘Never Too Late’. The new song was first premiered via The Obelisk and features a guest vocal appearance from Francis Toboisky from WUCAN. SEVEN BLOOD have released a new music video, The new music video, for the track ‘Killing From The Inside’, is the debut single from the German alternative band. The debut single was produced by Anfy Hartmann, mixed by Dan Weller [ENTER SHIKARI, HOLDING ABSENCE, BURY TOMORROW] and mastered by Dick Beetham. Hyperia is a Canadian melodic thrash metal band known for wailing vocals, shredding guitars, and fast, heavy drums. Formed in 2018, Hyperia combines elements of aggressive thrash with intricate guitar melodies alongside a wide variety of vocal styles, which have been showcased on an EP and two albums thus far, with the third full-length slated for release this November. The first single off The Serpent’s Cycle is the blistering ‘Prophet Of Deceit’, which takes a more serious tone than the other tracks on the album. The band comments: “This track brings us back into a serious mood, it is a quite melodic and technical song starting off with blistering guitar into a full-force attack of drums. The working title for this song was ‘Shredlord Supreme’, which should give you an idea of what to expect. This song is about the problems we have with certain members of society and gaslighting. It’s a hard-hitting track that is full of energy throughout.”

With just a little less than a month left before their upcoming studio effort Jailbreak is released, Nervosa has dropped the title track and accompanying music video. Featuring a classic thrash metal attack that’s undeniable, ‘Jailbreak’ is the kind of track that’s sure to get you in the mood to open up a pit. Speaking about the single, guitarist and founding member Prika Amaral said it helped forge the rest of the album, serving almost as a template for what they wanted to do for the rest of their time in the studio. “This song is the roots of this new album. Helena and I love motorcycles, and wanted to write a song that gives freedom to the people, because this is how we feel when we ride our motorcycles. Also, ‘Jailbreak’ has one of the biggest guitar duos – people will be surprised when we play this song live. I can’t wait for that!” As for the overall feel of the song, guitarist Helena Kotina said it’s got a more rock vibe than anything else on the record. “For me, ‘Jailbreak’ feels like the most heavy but also pure rock ‘n’ roll song on the album. Dying Wish are keeping the hype rolling for their new album, Symptoms of Survival. The Portland metalcore unit will be dropping their sophomore LP later this fall, and after announcing a U.S. headlining tour a couple weeks back, now they’ve unleashed a third single from the album called ‘Lost in the Fall.’ While the track certainly has similarities to the previous two singles, ‘Torn From Your Silhouette’ and ‘Watch My Promise Die,’ ‘Lost in the Fall’ might be the most ambitious song Dying Wish have ever released. The breakdowns are clobbering, as fans have come to expect from Dying Wish. But the song opens up during its bridge and frontperson Emma Boster murmurs softly above mournful piano, with no guitars or drums to speak of. Eventually, the full band comes crashing back in, and Boster carries ‘Lost in the Fall’ to a triumphant conclusion, belting with more gusto than ever before. [via Revolver]

Brighton “Nu-Gothika” metal band KNIFE BRIDE have released a raging new single ‘smother (make me suffer)’, which will feature on a new EP don’t dream too much – out August 25. Vocalist Mollie Buckley says the collection is “A trilogy of my gruesome dreams. A one night cycle of disturbing visions.” The music video for ‘smother (make me suffer)’ certainly conjures nightmarish thoughts. The track evokes some seriously messed-up feelings and marries an adoration of sonics spanning a spectrum of Spiritbox to Kate Bush. Says Buckley: “This is the flickery eye, heart racing, electric pulsing part of falling into sleep. I wanted to incorporate the word ‘smother’ into a song ever since being obsessed with the song ‘smother me’ by The Used from the age of 14 – the lyrical content is actually inspired as a response to this song. ‘smother (make me suffer)’ attempts to ‘poke fun’ at the male gaze. The chorus does this by saying “hope I stay fresh for you”, alluding to hoping my corpse is still beautiful, clean, and looking/smelling good – satirically commenting on being a subservient female and letting a man have his cake and eat it.”

Italy’s Raining Nails ft. members of Eternal Silence, Fallen Arise, Oracle Sun, and Sound Storm will be releasing their debut album Human Deeds later this year via Rockshots Records. To introduce their catchy, aggressive, and powerful heavy metal, they are unveiling their first single ‘Anthem’. Liquid State are making some serious moves over in the UK at the moment. Delivering a blend of frantic, intricate post-hardcore, littered with atmospheric builds and soaring pop moments, they are on the hottest of streaks right now. And they are continuing that in some style with their latest single, ‘Russian Roulette’. Sitting on the heavier side of the band’s repertoire, it’s a track that grabs the throat, squeezes and smiles. Rallying riffs, break-neck drums and even a guttural breakdown for good measure. It’s bound to get moshpits spinning up and down the country. But the part that sticks out the most is vocalist Keren Ashley. With incredible control over her delivery and tone, bleeding everything she has into every word she utters, it’s a spine-tingling display. The result is a track that showcases a band at the height of their powers. And they are still only getting started. Keren had this to say about the track and what it represents for her: “It’s really about the battle so many of us have with ourselves. How it can feel as if there’s another voice inside of us that tries to lead us astray and take us down from within. It can feel so comforting to listen and lean into it when it feels like there’s nothing else, but it really never moves us in the right direction.
