Produced by Jake Gosling (Lady Gaga, Paloma Faith), ‘GOODTHING’ is a stark alt-pop examination of self-sabotage. Written during pregnancy and early motherhood, the track forms part of an EP that documents both the intensity of new life and the psychological shifts that accompany it, as identity begins to recalibrate.

Speaking on the release, LALA HAYDEN said: “I feel like I’m always one bad decision away from completely sabotaging everything in my life. It feels like most of the time I’m living in a bubble that can’t last, constantly treading a fine line that could break at any moment. The sabotaging part in me is so loud, especially in times when I’m sleep deprived, hormonal, or feeling disconnected from my surroundings. GOODTHING is a story of intimacy and absence, where love lingers in empty rooms, in memory, and in the quiet realisation that sometimes, the hardest thing isn’t losing something good but realising you’re the reason it never lasts.”

Drawing inspiration from films such as The Dreamers, Blue Is the Warmest Colour and Paris, Texas – ‘GOODTHING’ explores the tension of holding something real, while slowly pulling away from it.

‘PLM’ pulses with sleek, insistent energy; synths circling a hypnotic rhythm that bridges contemporary pop with the lineage of classic club music. Co-written and produced by Jake Gosling (Lady Gaga, Paloma Faith), the song reflects a period of personal transition, written during pregnancy and shaped by a shifting sense of power.

Speaking on the release of her new single – LALA HAYDEN said: “I wrote this song shortly after finding out I was pregnant. It wasn’t planned, and I was overwhelmed by two opposite emotions at once – so much love and so much fear. Pregnancy and postpartum felt largely absent from the music I’d grown up with, and songwriting is how I process life, so it felt important to capture that moment honestly. I worried that becoming a mother meant giving something up – that there’d be no room left for dreaming. Then I remembered that music is my medicine. Becoming a mother doesn’t mean I stop singing and dancing – I need it now more than ever. This song is love and fear, freedom and captivity, confidence and doubt. Mother & child.”

Working with producer Ben Christophers (Bat For Lashes, Françoise Hardy) on its creation – new EP viva venus draws from the work of strong female voices such as Robyn, Róisín Murphy, Ladyhawke, Self Esteem, Donna Summer, Jessie Ware and Lykke Li, with its themes exploring love in a digital age, chronicling a period of disconnection, as LALA expands: “This EP is a journey from seeking the love outside to beginning to get a glimpse of the love that exists within. I feel like technology has irrevocably changed the paradigm for relationships, both in how we engage with ourselves but also our surroundings. It feels like 24/7 thrill seeking or looking for the next best thing.”

New single ‘honeymoon suite’ was co-written with Sam McTrusty & Ross McNae of Twin Atlantic, and Balancing Act’s Jackson Couzens, capturing the paradox of escaping into love to avoid the darkness within; “a dark and sweet, lovesick toxic lullaby” as LALA describes herself.

On the song’s lyrical inspiration, LALA continued to say: “The song was inspired by a night at a casino hotel in palm springs. There was so much to see but I was so anxious that all I wanted to do was hide inside the suite with my love. I feel like I’ve been addicted to the honeymoon phase where everything is light because I was running away from the darkness inside. Anything to quiet the noise.”
