British metalcore outfit DEFENCES have released a brand new single. The new music video, for the track ‘Lithium Kiss,’ is the brand new single from the Hertfordshire-based alternative metal band and marks their first new music since their latest studio album, Shadowlight, which was released in November last year, via Long Branch Records.

Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “the inspiration for ‘Lithium Kiss’ came from one of our members’ personal experience being prescribed the mood-stabiliser Lithium for a couple of years, and the frustrations and difficulties that came along with the benefits. When treatment stopped, rather than feeling like before, there was instead a feeling of being almost hyper-rational, rather than feeling like they could react instinctively and naturally.

“’Lithium Kiss’ is NOT about not taking your medication and taking care of yourself and we would never want it to come across that way. It’s instead a crystallization of a paranoia that we are consumed by illness and treatment, adversity and reconciliation. The Lithium Kiss is our way of referring to this relationship, the symbiotic necessity for difficulty to bring about individual growth, whilst ensuring that it does not come to consume you.”

FRAYLE have released a brand new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Boo’, is the final single lifted from the Cleveland-based doom metal band’s upcoming album Heretics & Lullabies, which is scheduled to be released on October 10 via Napalm Records. The track features a guest appearance from Jason Popson (ex-MUSHROOMHEAD) and arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming USA tour supporting occult rockers DOGMA.

Speaking about the new single, FRAYLE shares, “’Boo’ was inspired by an incident in Germany, when Gwyn, walking alone on a dark street, startled a woman traveling with her companions. She screamed, and the entire group hurried to the other side of the road. The song is a tongue-in-cheek response to moments like these – because for some of us, every day is Halloween.”

After the announcement of their signing with Art Gates Records in the summer, it has been confirmed that Italian Melodic Death Metal band 5Rand will release their long awaited third album Ordhalia on November 28 via the label. Here, the multi-layered growl vocal is emblematically effective, as the higher pitch is our fear and folly and the lower ones, our darkness and malice. “With the video for ‘Black Ocean’ we plunge into the abyss of our unconscious… into our shadow part, into a black-out of mental and emotional collapse.” Says vocalist Vivian Black. “The song speaks of the innermost desire to know that there can be someone to shake your hand to pull you out of this abyss, out of this black ocean. We chose scenes for the video that could represent this mood in a dreamlike way. Same goes for the choice to make the video in black and white. Italian symphonic metal band HYPERSONIC push their sound to new extremes with the release of their latest single ‘You Bastard’, featuring the devastating vocals of Francesco Paoli, frontman of extreme symphonic death metal titans Fleshgod Apocalypse.

Taken from the band’s acclaimed third album Kaosmogonia, ‘You Bastard’ is one of the heaviest and most emotionally charged tracks of the record. Musically, it delivers a relentless barrage of blast beats, crushing guitars, dramatic orchestration and male choir vocals recorded by the prestigious Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania (Italy). The song dives deep into themes of rage, justice, and despair, portraying a father’s fury and anguish over the violation of his child’s innocence.

BABYMETAL release their explosive new single ‘Kon! Kon’ featuring Bloodywood. This is the fifth single off their upcoming album METAL FORTH out on August 8 via Capitol Records. As postmodern society crumbles, Texas four-piece Die Spitz combine their passion, friendship, identity, and artistry to fight against the inescapable decay that surrounds life on their debut album, Something to Consume, due September 12 via Third Man Records. “There’s a political side to it, but addiction and love can also be all-consuming”, Ellie Livingston says. And as the band trade off instruments, swapping songwriting and vocal duties, and generating powerful songwriting in concussive bursts, Die Spitz have created their own little pocket of the world where we can all stand on the edge together.

“’Throw Yourself to the Sword’ is a high energy ode to what we want young people to feel. There’s a lot of existentialism and despair in other songs on the album that still sheath the same theme, but Throw Yourself to the Sword is the raise of optimism. Despite living in a state of mundanity or hopelessness, you can still rise up and fight the unknown, as long as you’re willing to throw yourself to it,” Ellie Livingston explains.

Coming off the recent release of their self-titled vinyl EP, much-hyped Floridian quintet Not Enough Space are now set to deliver their first-ever full-length: Weaponize Your Rage. To help promote the LP, the band have unleashed an incendiary metalcore-to-pop-blurring cut called ‘New Age Cannibal.’

The song is described by the act as one of the “most cutthroat and experimental tracks on the album.” It begins with low and trappily pitch-shifted vocals, surges into djent-pressed guitar bombast, and then ultimately finds co-vocalists Lizzie Raatma and Liv Mitchell trading off on a series of lines about “tearing through the scene” and ripping ”your fucking spine out like a flesh filet.”

“With its dramatic flair and dark undertones, we used the setting of a post-apocalyptic vibe to express the metaphor that we know we are the young, new band, with every intention to make it to the top in a dog-eat-dog industry,” the band explained in a joint statement, adding of the song’s creation, “The creative process was especially unique, as we had the opportunity to collaborate with influential producer Cameron Mizell (Memphis May Fire, Avril Lavigne), whose influence helped elevate the track to an entirely new level.”

Living Dead Girl — the pop-metal project helmed by powerhouse vocalist-bandleader Molly Rennick — are about to kick off a big North American tour, and on the eve of the first date, they teamed with Revolver to premiere the new video for their biting March single ‘Ugly.’ Rennick previously described Living Dead Girl as representing the two sides of her split personality — “one wears baby pink and Hello Kitty and listens to pop music, and the other a goth girl in fishnet stockings” — and the ‘Ugly’ video follows suit. It’s at once silly and violent, cutesy and incisive, delivering its social commentary in a fun, splatstick package. “‘Ugly’ is a song I wrote from a place of frustration, knowing many fellow women could relate,” Rennick tells Revolver. “It’s about wanting to be taken seriously for your contributions and skills without being objectified or undermined in any profession or passion. When it came to making a music video, we wanted to bring that idea to life, but in true Living Dead Girl form, it still needed to have an element of fun and humor. Even with a serious message, we still are a band that likes to have fun in everything we do. I paid some subtle homage to The Powerpuff Girls and their message of girl power and empowerment, while playing into the aesthetic of a campy horror movie. New England extreme-metal faction Escuela Grind have officially confirmed a full-length is likewise hitting us later this fall. The band’s Dreams on Algorithms is due out October 18, but they’re previewing it ahead of time with a fittingly disorienting single called ‘Turbulence.’ ‘Turbulence’ shakes things up a bit for Escuela Grind, marking the first time Economou has brought clean singing into the band’s discography. Then again, after a brief bit of Alice in Chains-esque doom-grungin’, the song incorporates a more shrieked and grind-blitzed pace. “It will be immediately obvious when you first hear this song that it is a departure for us,” the vocalist added. “We wanted to take a risk with ‘Turbulence,’ and after performing so many live shows over the last year we were ready to compile all that influence. The clean singing may take some people off-guard coming from a grind/hardcore band, but after touring with Napalm Death, we realized we wanted to incorporate that aspect into our music in a similar way. CHARLOTTE WESSELS on ‘Dopamine’: “Lyrically, ´Dopamine´ deals with SSRI induced numbness that I experienced a few years ago when I was on Sertraline, a type of antidepressant. While the medication was really helpful, there were so many side effects that I’d never heard of. This song deals with some of them, and while it feels vulnerable to expose the experience, I hope it helps in breaking down the shame and taboo around the topic. Simone reached out to me as I was first opening up about this in an interview, and when the first version of ´Dopamine´ dropped on Patreon (because of course we’re each other’s patrons) she texted how much she liked the song. So when we were working on the album version it only made sense to ask if she’d sing along on the track. I am so happy she agreed and after all of the shared introspection, it was great fun to let loose wearing pink wigs in ball pits and marshmallow pools for the video recordings. Musically, out of the entire new album, ´Dopamine´ went through the biggest transformation. What started out as an EDM demo for a collaboration with a dance duo that never happened, became an acoustic Song Of The Month on Patreon, which then had a massive overhaul when rearranging it with Timo. ENEMY INSIDE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘What We Used To Be’, is the brand new single from the German alternative/symphonic metal band and marks their first new music since 2021’s Seven. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Nastassja Giulia says, “’What We Used To Be’ deals with the topic of a relationship growing apart: whether it’s a romantic relationship, a friendship, or the relationship with yourself.
