Alabama’s very own princess of rap Flo Milli drops her new track ‘Wet Dreams’ featuring coop & G G via RCA Records. This latest track also has a LEFF-directed official video that is a whole vibe. From the blue lighting and vibrant glowing lingerie in a hotel room to car rides to the beach, the girls know how to set a scene. This release follows Flo dropping another LEFF-directed visual, but for her popular song ‘Toast’ from her latest album Fine Ho, Stay, which was the third release from her trilogy – 2022’s You Still Here Ho? and 2020’s Ho, Why Is You Here?.

Brooklyn rapper Lola Brooke has released a new single titled ‘No One Else’, featuring R&B artist Jeremih. The track, released via Team Eighty Productions/Arista Records, follows Brooke’s ‘Dennis Daughter (Deluxe)’ project, which was released in April. Brooke comments on the new release, saying: “With ‘No One Else’, you hear more of Lola, the lover girl. We all have feelings, and your girl is in a soft girl mood that you will hear more about with this track and maybe a few more. Going into making this track, I wanted to create something timeless with feel-good energy based on the music I listen to. I’m a rapper who loves R&B, especially the sound from the 90’s. From the special sauce, Jeremih adds to my PG-13 lyrics [laughs], there’s an element here that everyone can vibe to for cuffing season with bae, HA!” [via Dork]

DAYSH has yearned for deeper connection on her latest single, ‘IDK’. The bouncy trap-pop cut sees the London-born musician wax poetic on wanting more from her relationships, as soundtracked by propulsive snare drums and dynamic rap flows. The sound of the song itself is compelling enough, but DAYSH tops it all off with some mesmeric delivery and razor-sharp lyrical observations. Perhaps the major drawcard of ‘IDK’ is DAYSH’s unique and flexible rap cadences, which stretch acrobatically around the beat and make for a consistently engaging listen. The rapper isn’t confined to any one rhyme scheme, and instead changes the flow on whim while ensuring her lyrics pull focus. It’s the kind of unique flow that recalls the likes of Noname, Lil Simz or Tierra Whack, but DAYSH makes it wholly her own with some personal storytelling. “I was going through a bad break up at the time,” DAYSH said of the song’s genesis in a press statement, “So I found myself surrounded daily by all these people that didn’t know me even close to the depths of which the person I just became strangers with did.” It’s a personal yet relatable tale of feeling starved of connection, and it sees DAYSH yearn for someone to share her successes with. “Need deeper connection,” she spits on a hook that’s infinitely replayable, “All of the demons I fight, half-resting.” It’s one of many incisive bars delivered by DAYSH on ‘IDK’, a track which more than leaves its mark.
Paigey Cakey has this week released her brand new single, a new one called ‘For Me’, accompanied by an official set of visuals. The track features a bouncy instrumental that channels the sound of early 2000s American rap, blending nostalgic vibes with a fresh twist. She seamlessly combines her signature rapped verses with smooth, melodic hooks as she reflects on a special person in her life. The visuals complement the track’s upbeat energy, showcasing her confident presence and personal storytelling. [via GRM Daily]

Megan Thee Stallion has released her new single, ‘Neva Play’, featuring RM of K-pop boyband BTS. The K-pop star does not appear in its music video, instead an animated version of the duo use their superpowers to fight monsters and carry out a heist. “One, two, three, four (One, two, three, four) / Five, six, seven, eight (Five, six, seven, eight) / Let ’em know we on the way / Countin’ zeros everyday / You know that we neva play,” they rap.
Gearing up for the release of her new project and fresh off being co-signed by Drake, SadBoi unleashes her latest seductive and confident new single ‘Baddies’. New single ‘Baddies’ features a chumming beat paired alongside SadBoi’s charm and playful demeanor. The track is poised to be the powerhouse anthem of Hot Girl Summer 2024, preheating the season with boldness and swagger.

This past week, all eyes have remained on Lola Brooke as she continues to make her presence heard and felt by all. Now, she releases the official music video to ‘Shelter Baby (Be That Bitch)’ from her debut project Dennis Daughter. ‘Shelter Baby’ is a central piece of Lola’s project, Dennis Daughter. Produced by Reefa Music, the haunting and action-packed beat accompanies Lola’s story as she speaks about the significance the shelter system has on her life. The contrast between the club-banging beat and commendable, storytelling lyrics emphasizes Lola’s transparency in a fashion that strays away from the need of sympathy from the masses. Rather, ‘Shelter Baby’ celebrates the Lola Brooke coming-of-age story. The Ben-Marc-directed video shows Lola in a head-turning Jean Paul Gaultier ensemble as she flaunts the essence of how she’s always felt to “be that bitch” from day one.
Aotearoa/New Zealand’s JessB returns with her new single ‘Talk Of The Town’, alongside the announcement that she will release her debut album Feels Like Home on July 5. ‘Talk Of The Town’ is a chilled, laid back track with a funky R&B-rap soundscape with lyrics that explore not caring what other people think of you, and the freedom that brings. “I was inspired by the feeling of speculation and gossip around ‘who is dating who’,” JessB says. “The song speaks to the feeling directly, while still reinforcing the idea that I always follow what’s best for me regardless of what other people think. Let them talk!” [via Women In Pop]

Cristale has shared new single ‘Will You Ever?’. Out now, it spins her sound in a more introspective fashion, the quiet paranoia of the production matched by some of Cristale’s most open, emotive vocals to date. Daring to open herself up, ‘Will You Ever?’ is a brave return, challenging expectations in the process. Out now on Black Butter Records, the track underpins the sheer depth of this raw Brixton talent. [via Clash]

Nairobi-born, Adelaide-based singer, rapper and producer Elsy Wameyo has shared her new single ‘Sinner,’ a blistering track that puts Wameyo’s virtuosic MC chops on full display. “Introspection brought light to a darkness I never wanted to unveil, the consequences of a munificent heart that had nothing left to give,” Wameyo shares, “My spirit man asleep exposed me to a world that very quickly incapacitated me physically and spiritually. I became a product of my environment and gave in to my flesh, embracing the wickedness and ignorance of its existence. I chose me. I understood that light shines brightest in the dark, so the more I wandered, the closer I would be to returning. Life will forever be a fight between the good and the bad. I call it the sinner’s condition. In the end, only the strong will survive. Watch the cinematic visual directed by Wameyo & Danny Skilton below, which finds her in various church settings and processions, juxtaposing shots depicting her as a goddess and a churchgoer.
TiaCorine, the North Carolina rapper and songwriter, has released the official mixed media music video for ‘Bonnet’. Over the uptempo Oxtoa production, she contends against fellow rappers who are, unfortunately, stale haters and makes mention of her gay hypeman and Asian DJ. Tapping into her Japanese-African American father’s heritage, the ‘Freaky T’ singer gives fans a deeper look into her “anime trap” style. Check out the visual masterpiece below to see who wins and survives.
Bktherula has announced a new project titled LVL 5 P2, the direct sequel to her most recent record. The album is due out March 8 via Warner Records and its lead single, ‘Crayon,’ is out now. On the new song, the Atlanta MC darts across a persistent, bass-heavy beat, moving through two hooks and an interceding verse like a running back slicing through a defensive line. “And that bitch talk so much shit but she ain’t gon’ say nun’ / If you wanna race me up to the top, then bitch, put the Tay-K on,” she raps in a nimble, Auto-Tuned flow. The song comes with a music video in which Bk rides through a city, finding creative uses for her seemingly endless supply of crayons along the way. Watch the clip and stream the song below.
JT is releasing the record and video for her solo song ‘Sideways’ (Quality Control Music/Motown). One half of the renowned hip-hop duo City Girls with Yung Miami, ‘Sideways’ comes off the success of her solo single ‘No Bars’. ‘Sideways’ previews JT’s upcoming solo EP, and ushers in a new chapter for her as she comes into her own. “’Sideways’ is a mood! Sometimes women are forced to be friends with everyone and if we decide to stay to our self they call us mean,” she says. “Most of these btches nosey & phony! I love my btches though, the real ones. Shout out to the real b*tches!” Combining brazen charisma with sneering bars and the raucous energy of Miami nightlife, JT specializes in making girls feel empowered and to have permission to act up. The video is a testament to just that with a wild ‘Girls Night Out’ in Miami.

Brooklyn-born recording artist Lola Brooke unveils her latest music video to ‘God Bless All The Rappers.’ The powerful, BenMarc-directed official music video made its broadcast premiere on BET Jams and on the Paramount Times Square billboards. The base-knocking track, which samples ‘A Child of God (It’s Hard to Believe)’ by Millie Jackson was first revealed during the latter part of 2023 with the release of Lola’s debut project, Dennis Daughter, which is out now. ‘God Bless All The Rappers’ is a masterful blend of sound and vision from the globally acclaimed rap star. In the song, Lola professes her respect and compassion for all rappers across the board as she sheds light on the judgment and dangers that can arise from being a rapper. A story hardly told, she calls into action the need to value the lives of all rappers in a fashion that matches the acclaim received for the music that is shared by her community. The visual vividly brings into focus this notion, evoking emotion that displays Lola’s determination to raise attention to an ordeal that she is susceptible to with being a rapper herself. From there, ominous piano keys and spaced out effects set the stage for Lakeyah’s gritty, unadulterated bars. The accompanying video, directed by 20K Visuals, provides a case and point as to why the Milwaukee-bred rapper feels the need to shed any hesitation and truly express how she feels.

British hip-hop artist Speech Debelle is back in the spotlight with her latest single, ’11:11′, taken from her fourth studio album, Sunday Dinner On a Monday, which is out now. This album marked a significant return to the music scene for the critically acclaimed artist, whose career took off with her Mercury Prize-winning debut album, Speech Therapy, in 2009. ’11:11′ is a track that encapsulates elegance, grace, bravado and rap. Produced by Skripture, with additional production by Dem Drums, the song exudes the energy reminiscent of classic hip-hop. The single arrives alongside an equally impressive music video directed by Aiden Harmitt-Williams. Speaking about ’11:11′, Speech Debelle says, “The track reminded me instantly of classic hip-hop. It has that energy that makes you want to let everyone know what you as a rapper are meant to do with a beat.” ’11:11′ is a testament to Speech’s continued creativity and her ability to evolve as an artist while staying true to her unique style.

One month after Australia voted ‘no’ to the Indigenous Voice to Parliament, rapper and Malyangapa, Barkindji woman Barkaa has dropped a clapback with the cutting single ‘Division’. ‘Division’ was made before the results were released, and Barkaa had originally hoped that the track would never see the light of day. But as the prospect of a no vote became clear on October 14, she began to ready it for release. In a press statement Barkaa says, “I was just so sad. But then a part of me was like, ‘At least I’m not crazy. Everything I’ve been feeling is real, is the truth. The nation’s rejection of us confirms it.” The accompanying video shows Barkaa ferociously rapping to a man wearing a cap in the Australian green and gold. They sit across from each other, making direct eye contact, as she spits: “I don’t want your table, fuck your table and its weak legs / Fuck your constitution, you can keep it for them rednecks / And everytime you look at us, I hope it makes you fuckers sweat.” [via NME]

The Jersey-club inspired track received video treatment from director Ben Mark, showing Lola, Coi and singer/songwriter Nija taking over the streets of Downtown Newark, NJ and Times Square. The high-energy visual sees bikers and club-dancers matching the mood of the tune, as they hit signature Jersey moves like the “running man,” “rock ya hips” and “sexy walk.” [via VIBE]

Atlanta rapper/singer/actress and self-proclaimed “theater kid” Baby Tate snatches follicles in a dramatic lip sync competition for ‘Wig,’ inspired by RuPaul’s hit series Drag Race. It’s an anthemic song from her newly released EP, Baby Tate Presents — Sexploration: The Musical. To start things off, Baby Tate dedicates the vignette to members of the trans, drag, and nonbinary communities. From there, she plays a judge alongside Grammy-nominated songwriter Justin Tranter and RuPaul’s Drag Race star Luxx Noir London, in an electric lip sync battle that includes spirited dancing, colorful wigs, and feisty competitors who aren’t afraid to snatch them. The hook itself is an incessant command that becomes an engrossing chant. “Gimme your wig, wig, wig, wig,” she repeats over a thumping baseline. The video aligns with the song’s mischievous lyrics and jumpy piano; the animated miming — and the judges’ reaction to it — creates an epic exhibition in camp. As imaginative as it is braggadocious, the video is a fitting visual manifestation of Baby Tate’s technicolor mind — a fertile ground where impulse and big ideas become the stuff of theater. It’s just the latest example of the creativity that powers her latest project. [via Broadway World]

The song’s an ode to the D-boys and hustlers who love fast cars and the girls who love those boys. The lo-fi video for the track sees Red and friends turning up in the streets and throwing money with cameos from fellow rap it-girls like GloRilla. [via UPROXX]

Back with more heat, Baltimore’s MVP Rican Da Menace unveils a new single and music video entitled ‘Off Top’ with Lola Brooke via BuVision/Columbia Records. This marks her first collaboration with the rapidly rising Brooklyn spitter, and it also unites two of the game’s fiercest females on one fiery collaborative banger. Produced by HitMaka, Nick Papz, and Xander, the beat samples the DMX classic ‘Ruff Ryders’ Anthem’. In between the instantly recognizable Swizz Beatz keyboard riff, Rican rips right through the beat with precise bars only for Lola to counter with an equally punchy cameo. The hook hits hard as it repeats, “I get mines off top.” Meanwhile, the accompanying visual plays out like a classic Yo MTV Raps!-era video. Emanating confidence, gusto, and swagger, this dynamic duo takes over Brooklyn—from the streets to the rooftops. [via Hip Hop Since 1987]

Tributes to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary are far from over. Flo Milli is joining in on the flower giving on her new freestyle, ‘Flo Milli.’ Simply put, the tribute is a lovefest on rap megastar Lil Wayne. From the signature deadlocks to the video’s original concept, Flo Milli aimed to honor the New Orleans native through his 2008 song, ‘A Milli.’ As Flo Milli borrowed the classic rap beat, she also takes some additional creative liberties by flipping several of the Young Money boss’ lyrics, including her stanza, “She’s a beast / She’s a dog / She’s a muthef*ckin’ problem / Claiming she want what but be running like a possum / You can’t stand ’em then you drop ’em / Hoes get messy imma mop ’em / hallucinogenic have ’em rolling when I rock ’em.” The entertainer took to Instagram to share the record’s cover art in which she continued her praise of Lil Wayne, writing, “Lil Wayne is still the GREATEST RAPPER ALIVE,” in the caption. This sentiment is echoed amongst several other recording artists, including his protégés Nicki Minaj and Drake, to NLE Choppa. [via UPROXX]

Now, Tkay is sharing the new single ‘Ring-A-Ling,’ which also has a video directed by Jocelyn Anquetil. Here’s what Tkay had to say about Sweet Justice, which also has collabs with Lolo Zouaï, Amber Mark, and Duckwrth: “Sweet Justice was a way for me to channel my emotions from what I’ve experienced in the last two years. It’s a diary of things and thoughts I’ve kept to myself. Making the record was a healing experience and I’m grateful to have worked with producers who have inspired me throughout my career.” She adds of ‘Ring-A-Ling,’ which is produced by Two Fresh: “I wanted to make an empowering song that tells others that my biggest focus are my goals.” [via Stereogum]

Pioneering West London rapper, singer and songwriter Br3nya releases new single ‘Outside’. The summer-tinged track showcases Br3nya’s signature playfulness and optimism towards life driven by an anthemic chorus dismissing negative energy “Please don’t spoil my vibe today, badmind don’t stress me”. Dedicated to her core fans, Br3nya flaunts her rap ability with two dazzling verses across an uptempo production from Julïan capturing the essence of the summer. The video shot by Melody Berkery provides a comedic nod to Nollywood films Mean Girls and Girls Cot capturing her larger-than-life persona mirroring the vibes of being outside this summer with Br3nya.

The song is called ‘Anything Flows,’ and it features Maiya The Don, 2Rare, and Kari Faux. Immediately upon turning on the track, you are met with some awesome, uptempo production. Overall, the beat is something that complements the stylings of every artist here. Moreover, we have Flo Milli on the hook, who brings some truly infectious energy to the while thing.
Toronto-based musical giant, Haviah Mighty releases a track that pays homage to her family, ‘Zoom Zoom,’ ahead of her anticipated Crying Crystals album out on July 14. ‘Zoom Zoom’ features her sister, Omega Mighty and digs deep into traditional Afro-beats and R&B elements that we heard on her single from earlier this year, ‘Room Service,’ but with more upbeat/dancehall-leaning energy that we heard on her most recent single ‘Huh.’ It’s a perfect foreshadowing of the breadth and excitement to come on her record next month. Of the track, Haviah Mighty says, “‘Zoom Zoom’ is a reflection of the regret of truly letting someone go. It’s a rapid change of the mind, with ‘Zoom Zoom’ being a metaphor for rushing back to the one you love. In my first verse, I paint the picture. I’m single and l only, but confident: ‘Hard shell, porcupine, a cactus,’ yet still, ‘I been thinking ‘bout you lately. All this time I’m trying to break free.”

Switching gears sonically, the track layers an ethereal loop above drill-style 808s before the momentum gives way to a bumping Jersey Club-style rhythm. Against this backdrop, Jenn’s punchy flow and braggadocious bars instantly make a mark. Philadelphia phenomenon 2Rare pulls up with a scorching verse of his own as the song culminates on a chantable hook. The visual matches this energy as Jenn and 2Rare turn up surrounded by friends and no shortage of drip.

She began by collaborating with Maiya The Don on the remix of Flo Milli’s ‘Conceited,’ which came shortly before a solo effort called ‘So DISRESPECTFUL.’ For her latest release, Brooke shared ‘Just Relax’, much to her fan’s pleasure. As REVOLT notes, the Reefa and Teddy Da Don-produced beat samples Black Sheep’s ‘The Choice Is Yours,’ taking us back in time. To match those vibes, the New Yorker filmed a throwback-inspired video, directed by Shanghaii, which sees her letting loose at a house party with plenty of friends. [via HNHH]

With a distinct style that blends hip-hop and dancehall in a seamless manner, Leicester rap artist Trillary Banks returns to the forefront with her new single ‘Bruce Lee’. As the title suggests, it is a pure showcase of bravado, encased with Trillary’s unique patois-infected flow and unapologetic lyrics. Once again, she teams up with longtime collaborator Maschine man Tim who cooks up this gritty flute-laden bass-heavy drill soundscape that is tailor-made for Trillary’s energetic performance. The accompanying visuals also accentuate the track with its blend of performance shots of Trillary with her squad running the streets and also capturing some shots in the gym. We see Trillary in both streetwear and a karate gi as she exudes an unfiltered demeanour while fully expressing herself. [via Earmilk]

Baby Tate and Saweetie team up in the colorful video for the remix of Tate’s 2016 single ‘Hey, Mickey!’ The original found Tate lamenting a love interest’s noncommital ways with a twist on Toni Basil’s 1981 hit. After the original went viral on TikTok, Tate tapped Saweetie to add her own flippant verse. Meanwhile, the video, which appears to be set in a Polly Pocket-like miniature universe, sees the two rappers clubbing and taking a plush road trip in the back of a pickup truck. [via Uproxx]
