‘Dreamstate Of Hell’ was co-written and produced by Ruben Cardenas of SMLE and mixed by Owen Claxton, known for his work on Mimi Barks’ debut album THIS IS DOOM TRAP, as well as collaborations with both Bring Me The Horizon and Precious.

Directed, produced and filmed by Death Tour vocalist Demi Yo’Ko in collaboration with Mimi Barks, the music video was shot in her new home of Downtown Los Angeles. Its late night surreal imagery, filled with motion, fire and a sense of collapse, mirrors the unrest at the core of the track and sets the tone for what is shaping up to be her darkest and most focused era yet.

Talking of the new single, Mimi Barks shares, “Sometimes it feels like the world is slipping into a dreamstate of hell and most people do not even realize they are asleep inside it. Everywhere I look, I see noise, decay, violence, distraction and now war becoming part of the daily landscape again. But to me heaven and hell are not places waiting for us when we die, they’re states of consciousness we create every day while we are here in the flesh. The real question is what you choose to feed: the poison or the light. ‘Dreamstate Of Hell’ was the first song I wrote after moving to Los Angeles, and it became the starting point for everything that followed.”

Bristol-based heavy-pop quartet Bitter Kisses have released their new single, ‘Social Demons’. ‘Social Demons,’ the band’s eighth single, is characterized as an angst-fueled torrent of thought and rhythm. The track was produced by Alex Copp, known for his work with As December Falls and Led By Lanterns, and mastered by Grant Berry. Recording took place at Steel City Studios, ensuring a polished and powerful sound that aligns with Bitter Kisses’ signature heavy-pop style. Butcher Babies have been reborn. A few months out from the departure of co-founding vocalist Carla Harvey, the L.A.-based metalcore outfit have returned with a single called ‘Sincerity,’ which also marks their first piece of music through new label home Judge & Jury Records. ‘Sincerity’ follows the band’s 2023 full-length, Eye for an Eye… /… ‘Til the World’s Blind, and it’s their first release since Harvey’s exit. With the band now reconfigured as a one-vocalist enterprise, Heidi Shepherd’s singing is fully front and center on the modern metal track, and reliably powerful. A press release explains that the song is “rooted in wishful thinking,” but is likewise about being put into a situation where someone manipulates your emotions “to feed their own ego and benefit.” “Over the last decade and a half, Butcher Babies has become known for our aggression and soaring melodies. BEX shares new single ‘Taste Better’. ‘Taste Better’ is co-written and produced by WARGASM’s Sam Matlock. A personal battlecry for every woman who has been belittled by men. Following last month’s surprising single ‘Turbulence,’ Escuela Grind have now unleashed the second track from their upcoming album Dreams On Algorithms. Having treated festival fans to the track live over the summer, Heriot have now released ‘At The Fortress Gate’ in its full studio glory. REDHOOK have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Pyromaniac’, is the brand new single from the Australian alternative rock band and follows on from their previous single, ‘Cannibal,’ which was released back in June. The new song was produced by Stevie Knight [STAND ATLANTIC] and mixed by James Paul Wisner [UNDEROATH, PARAMORE] and its accompanying music video was directed by frequent REDHOOK collaborator Colin Jeffs of Ten Of Swords Media [Imposter, Cannibal]. Speaking about the new single, vocalist Emmy Mack says, “’Pyromaniac’ is a song about making an urgent decision to get professional help with your mental health. As London based, Berlin artist Mimi Barks draws ever closer to the long-awaited release of her debut album THIS IS DOOM TRAP, she now unveils a brand-new single, ‘MONTANA’, featuring Yeti Bones of the American rap-punk duo Ho99o9. The relentless track, which flips from English vocals to Mimi Barks’ native German, is the third single released from the upcoming album, following her vulnerable single ‘BANSHEE’ and the album announcement single ‘FSU’ (short for Fuck Shit Up). Alongside the new single, Mimi Barks provides the following message, “Power through betrayal. Ambition through hopelessness. Every tear my teacher and I’m fueled by the hatred. Great grief births empowerment and this song is the testament. An untold truth. Seven Spires shares ‘The Old Hurt of Being Left Behind,’ the third single from their upcoming studio album A Fortress Called Home to be released June 21 via Frontiers Music Srl. Reunited Canadian metal outfit Kittie have dropped the new song ‘We Are Shadows,’ their second single since returning from hiatus. Giant Walker have released a new music video. German doom-trap trailblazer Mimi Barks has shared another video from her DEADGIRL mixtape, for the seething ’10.steps.back.’ In keeping with the song’s lyrics – ‘Watch them from a distance and keep the distance / Fighting snakes with snakes’ – the clip finds her surrounded by snakes. The track forms part of DEADGIRL‘s arc of sinking to the bottom, and from there being cleansed and reborn as the person you want to be. “The whole album is a full cycle around the idea of the DEADGIRL,” Mimi explained to Kerrang! on the album’s release. “The first songs are heavier, more aggressive, and kind of filled with delusional aloofness and narcissism, to self-hatred, or hate for the world, but also chaos in my brain. Mimi Barks has released another new video from her DEADGIRL mixtape, this time for the furious ‘SAW.’ After the high production values of her last clip, for ‘ASHES,’ in which the German doom-trap queen is burned at the stake as a witch, here she’s taken a more raw, minimal, lo-fi approach. It’s no less eerie, though. “‘SAW’ marks the resistance, rage, and anger I experienced while seeking my identity and self-worth on an emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental level,” she says of the track. “Working independently on set with a micro team – just me, my videographer and his camera – it takes me back to my roots. No crew, no lights, and no screenplay. It’s raw, industrial and dirty, with the walls of the derelict buildings reflecting the wrath and backlash of my internal war.” [via Kerrang!]

Oakland, CA blackened progressive metal band Dawn Of Ouroboros will release their second album, Velvet Incandescence, on April 21 via Prosthetic Records. Eramnesia are a new duo consisting of guitarist Pat Reilly and singer Aimee Zambrana, and they have shared their first-ever single, ‘Alone Under Neon Lights.’ Combining elements of Eighties goth-rock, synth-pop and glam-metal, the moody track features gigantic guitar solos, throbbing drum machine beats, and Zambana’s robust voice, which travels from an intimate croon to a powerful belt. It’s accompanying video sees the band evoke the song’s title by performing under the glow of neon lights, with scenes of Reilly’s wife dancing hypnotically in between the shots of the band. “We knew the vibe we wanted to create with this video; Dark, retro, and atmospheric with twist of sexiness,” Reilly said. “Director Eric Taylor Parker did an amazing job not only shooting with that idea in mind, but also in the editing of the video. Shout out to my wife Karen for being that twist of sexiness, this video shoot was truly a great time!” “I had a lot of nerves leading up to our first shoot, but filming was a blast,” Zambrana adds. “Eric implemented the retro-meets-futuristic feeling we were looking for, and the gorgeous Karen acted as a personification of the song’s theme of forbidden desires. Dynamic London-based duo WARGASM uncover the explosive music video for their song ‘Super Fiend’. On ‘Super Fiend’ the band said: “Inspired by the bleakness of the 2000AD comic universe, the sound of slipknot and the way our society is moving: we wrote this song because we want to be left alone, free from fake friends and the posturing that can plague the relationships around us. It’s nice to be nice, but it’s also nice sometimes to just be. With the human experience comes a spectrum of emotions. Anger is energy, suck it up and feel how you feel.”

‘Off with their heads’ is the latest track from Nu Metal sister duo, Nyrobi & Chaya of ALT BLK ERA and they leave nothing in reserve! With an eccentric Alice in Wonderland theme, the song is about the Queen of Hearts’ rampage through life, in a delusional state of grandeur. In essence, there are two halves to this track which becomes more manic as it develops. Metal, Rap, Electronic sounds and fierce female vocals build throughout, leaving listeners describing it as ‘pure freedom & chaos’.

Finnish rockers Highway Queen’s debut full-length Bitter Soul is out now via Rockshots Records.
