Her new single ‘The Way You Want Me’ marks a defiant new era of her artistry, dropping during Pride Month as an earworm you can both groove and chill out to.

Speaking of the track, Nat says, “’The Way You Want Me’ came during one of the last mornings of a songwriting camp in the Cotswolds. My producer MSTRY had come up with a skeleton beat from the couch, and I mumbled over it coming up with a theme pretty quickly.

“I used to definitely be a people pleaser, meaning it really affected me if I fell short of others’ expectations. Lyrically, The Way You Want Me rejects this, and documents a sweet realisation that whoever is in your corner will love you the way you are, with no compromises.

“Being in your early twenties, or any age really, you can feel a societal pressure to take things seriously, especially in relationships. That can take the fun out of it. This song is a reminder that you can take things slow or at your own pace and enjoy the time that you have with people.

“That’s the deep part of the track; the overall theme is just enjoying yourself and not taking things too seriously. Sometimes, it’s good enough to just want to enjoy that bit of time you have. You can’t be everything to everyone all the time. Take a step back and chill out. You’ll soon realise that some things you stress over are because you’re taking yourself way too seriously.”

The single features a colourful melting pot of grooving drums, heartwarming synths and understated guitar lines. Her voice finds the perfect blending point between mellow and emotional, working hand in glove with well-penned lyrics.

Speaking about the track, she shares: “I wrote this song as a reflection on a lack of reciprocation in relationships, where the balance just isn’t there. I also wanted to focus on abstract imagery so that each person listening can put themselves in the song and see where they deserve more in whatever relationships they have.”

Speaking further about the release she says: “’London Town’ is all about ambition. Having somewhere you want to get to and constantly striving for it. I’m a bit of a workaholic, but the buzz that London brings keeps me really excited and makes me want to work every day.

“It’s also a tribute to the kids from my hometown of Gloucester. It can sometimes feel like a dead end but I just want the young ones there to know that they can do anything they want if they put their minds to it. It gets frustrating when young people are put down. They just need that one person to believe in them. I hope I’m at least that one person they know has their back.”
