Portland’s Dying Wish specialize in a particularly brutal form of metalcore. Emma Boster can actually sing when she isn’t bringing the hellfire beast-roars, and the band really steers into that ability on their new song ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around,’ the lead single from the upcoming LP Flesh Stays Together. The heavy parts feel heavier because of the ominous beauty in Boster’s voice, and when the breakdown comes in, they bring it.

Flesh Stays Together follows Dying Wish’s 2023 album Symptoms Of Survival, as well as ‘I Brought You My Soul (Your World Brought Me Despair),’ the one-off single that came out earlier this year. Dying Wish recorded Flesh Stays Together with Knocked Loose collaborator Will Putney, and ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ has a lot of that band’s sincere guttural lurch. Dying Wish already tour big rooms, but if the rest of the record sounds like this, I could see them following Knocked Loose into even bigger ones.

Dying Wish member Pedro Carrillo co-directed the ‘I’ll Know You’re Not Around’ video with Eric Richter, and it’s got all the bloody theatricality that you’d hope.

Finnish heavy metal powerhouse BATTLE BEAST continues their unstoppable rise with the release of their brand-new single and music video ‘Here We Are‘. UK metal outfit CAGE FIGHT have released a brand new single. Titled ‘IHYG (I Hate Your Guts)’, the new track marks the band’s first new music since the release of their self-titled debut album, which was released back in May 2022, via Candlelight Records. The song features deeply personal lyrics from vocalist Rachel Aspe, detailing a bleak and traumatic experience. The new music video was directed by Shaun Hodson (Loki Films).

Coming off the recent release of their self-titled vinyl EP, much-hyped Floridian quintet Not Enough Space are now set to deliver their first-ever full-length: Weaponize Your Rage. To help promote the LP, the band have unleashed an incendiary metalcore-to-pop-blurring cut called ‘New Age Cannibal.’

The song is described by the act as one of the “most cutthroat and experimental tracks on the album.” It begins with low and trappily pitch-shifted vocals, surges into djent-pressed guitar bombast, and then ultimately finds co-vocalists Lizzie Raatma and Liv Mitchell trading off on a series of lines about “tearing through the scene” and ripping ”your fucking spine out like a flesh filet.”

AILSHA has released her debut EP Good Looking Girl, Awful Music.

The three song EP includes previously released singles ‘Hot Girls’ and ‘Press Start’, as well as the EP’s title track ‘Good Looking Girl, Awful Music’, billed as AILSHA’s “heaviest track to date.”

Daedric continues the march toward their sophomore album with the release of their latest single, ‘Alien Skin.’

A pure metalcore adrenaline rush, ‘Alien Skin’ was an early favorite and a must-have for the album. Originally written in 2019, it let Daedric’s live members Trevor (drums) and Dylan (guitar) shine, scratching the band’s metal itch with raw intensity.

“Lyrically, I had written this one after watching the movie Dark City from the ’90s,” Kristyn Hope explains. The song draws inspiration from the 1998 sci-fi film Dark City, exploring paranoia, self-doubt, and reality distortion. The protagonist questions whether they’ve committed a terrible crime, mirroring the film’s eerie world where unseen forces manipulate reality. DAWN OF OUROBOROS have announced a new album. Titled Bioluminescence, the upcoming album from the Oakland, California-based progressive black metal band is the follow-up to 2023’s Velvet Incandescence, and is scheduled to be released in March this year, via Prosthetic Records.

The upcoming album was primarily self recorded before the mixing was handled by Lewis Johns at The Ranch in Southampton, UK, and mastering by Grant Berry at Fader Mastering in Manchester, UK. Additional engineering was then completed by Nick Loiacono at Fang Studios in San Mateo, before the ethereal artwork was crafted by Alex Eckman Lawn.

Alongside the announcement of the new album, DAWN OF OUROBOROS have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album; the title track ‘Bioluminescence.’

Speaking about the new song, the band shares, “the ocean has always been a major inspiration for us as a band, but this song is the first where we’ve directly composed something about it. Particularly, it’s about the chemical process found in many deep-sea animals called bioluminescence. We wanted the title track to be an introduction to the more adventurous vibe of the overall album. Deathless Legacy has released a video for ‘Miserere’, first single taken from the new album, Damnatio Aeterna, to be released on March 7 by Scarlet Records.

Directed by Frater Orion, the video translates the dark and provocative theme of the track into images: a confession turned into an obsessive and disturbing ritual, where the line between redemption and sin dissolves. German-based alternative outfit SEVEN BLOOD have released their brand new single and music video for ‘Monsters’, produced by Anfy Hartmann, mixed by Dan Weller (Enter Shikari, Holding Absence, Bury Tomorrow) and mastered by Dick Beetham. The track follows the release of their previous single ‘As We Bleed’, the cathartic ‘House ≠ Home’ and their debut release ‘Killing From The Inside’, all of which are available for streaming now.

Channelling SEVEN BLOOD’s most technical influences – notably Architects and Bring Me The Horizon – ‘Monsters’ is as heavy thematically as it is sonically. “’Monsters’ is about the demons that haunt you, and pull you down in dark moments,” vocalist Azaria Nasiri states. “It’s a song that for me is about what it means to be haunted by depression, but I think everyone will be able to relate to the monsters hiding in their own story.”

For guitarist Oli Arnold, the song strikes a particularly personal chord. “When I was about thirteen years old, my best friend died very suddenly,” he reveals. “The tragedy of that moment has shaped my life more than any other. I began suffering from panic attacks, and my parents weren’t capable of handling that situation. For a long time I didn’t feel connected to people. My childhood ended that day. It’s only now that I’m really able to begin to process that experience and to write about its impact on me.”

Brighton-based metal four-piece KNIFE BRIDE have released a killer new single ‘TERRITORY’, as they gear up to head off on tour around the UK with Defects and Profiler later this month. Influenced by the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Spiritbox and Evanescence, ‘TERRITORY’ brings frontwoman Mollie Clack’s impassioned and compelling vocal to the fore. Mollie says “’Territory’ is a love song, believe it or not. It was written after a hostile exchange and I see it as a kind of diary entry, I guess. It’s very dramatic and purging and really highlights how crazy love can make you.”

Jinjer have announced their upcoming fifth album, Duél, and offered up a new song, the haunting ‘Kafka.’ In contrast to preceding singles ‘Rogue’ and ‘Someone’s Daughter,’ which lean into the Ukrainian band’s heavier, djent-ier inclinations, the latest cut is a slower-burning power ballad — though it does ultimately erupt into crushing riffery and roaring vocals, the latter of courtesy of powerhouse vocalist Tatiana Shmayluk. The song arrived along with a striking video featuring artwork and animation by Oleksii Zatserkovnyi. Shmayluk commented of ‘Kafka’: “Being an artist is sometimes beautiful but most of the time it’s brutal… as our art is dissected word for word and ripped apart note by note, we‘re expected to be on point all-the-time … and when we aren’t, we are scandalized. A true artist is vulnerable but the crowd is most often plagued with vultures who pick at every single move you make. It’s a slippery slope when music means the world to us but how quickly praise turns into prosecution… We are all Kings and Queens for a day but most of the time it feels like a Kafka novel for a lifetime. ENEMY INSIDE have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Fuck That Party’, is the brand new single from the German alternative/symphonic metal band and follows on from their previous single, ‘Should Have Known Better’, which was released last month. The new single was once again mixed and mastered by Christoph Wieczorek of ANNISOKAY (Sawdust Recordings) and its accompanying music video was produced by the group’s loyal companion Jonas Sommer. It’s based on a concept and story written by creative frontwoman Nastassja Giulia, and takes fans to the band’s own chamber of horrors. RedHook have given fans another glimpse of their upcoming new album with the snarling ‘Bomb.com’. With Mutation set for release on November 22, the track arrives ahead of their swiftly approaching UK dates with Dream State. Speaking on ‘Bomb.com’, vocalist Emmy Mack has shared: “‘Bomb.com’ is basically just a big fun diss track about an egomaniacal dude in the music industry who likes to talk a lot of shit, particularly about female-fronted bands. Finnish band Memoremains drop a new song on the airwaves. The five-piece has already released the singles ‘Toxic Girl’ and ‘Stuck’ earlier this year, but the recently released ‘Fighter’ is a bit different. “Compared to previous singles, ‘Fighter’ is a bit deeper and more atmospheric. As for the vocals, we also searched for new sounds to emphasize the nuances of the composition. In the lyrics, I wanted to deal with friendship and a situation where a loved one is in a challenging place in their life and needs support in making difficult choices. If only the song would bring a touch of hope to the gloom of autumn for the listeners as well !” singer Johanna Ahonen states. The song was also made into a music video with the help of a well-known author. “Aarni Visuals made a music video for us from our 2022 Nummirock show recording for the single ‘Empire’ from the album Pop Metal, and we remembered how efficient he worked and how good the result was. Rising phenom Amira Elfeky has a gravely booming nu-gaze single to get us through the spooky season. Filled with a mix of goth-romantic bleakness, detuned guitar melancholy and heavy existential dread, her latest track is fittingly titled ‘Will You Love Me When I’m Dead.’ The single marks Elfeky’s first release since last June’s ‘Remains of Us’ collaboration with Scarlet House. This time around, the Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter teamed-up with producers/musicians Zakk Cervini and Andrew Goldstein to drill into this dark-edged, but dreamy piece. ‘Will You Love Me When I’m Dead’ bounces between a driving, early Deftones-like groove, some lightly twitching electronica, and a gravesite disturbing breakdown finale. Previous singles ‘im sad lol’ and ‘PRN’ explored the dystopian and fictional story of Rin, based on real life – a multiverse where ‘variants’ of RinRin reside in alternate worlds, leading different lives that reflect true feelings. The latest offering, ‘FCKNRUN,’ represents a version of RinRin that sees her take on the role of serial casanova, where attachment is her greatest enemy. Naarm/Melbourne’s The Last Martyr have just dropped EP Requiem, packed with soaring, soul-stirring metal.
