Post hardcore band SeeYouSpaceCowboy have announced their highly anticipated new album Coup De Grâce. A complex and imaginative new record that invites listeners into a neo-noir world of the band’s creation, Coup De Grâce is set to be released on April 19 via Pure Noise Records. Fans can check out a brand new double music video for their singles ‘Respite For A Tragic Tale (ft. iRis.EXE)’ and ‘Silhouettes in Motion’ below. “This album was a chance for us to refine some of the melodic elements we had recently introduced to the band while also playing around with all things and bringing back reinvented version of past parts of our identity,” shares frontwoman Connie Sgarbossa. “The hope is that we made something that mixes the innate emotion of post hardcore with the cathartic essence of dancing and allure of cabaret/burlesque in a package reflecting the tale of a city on fire and it’s all to tragic individuals and their indulgence and woes.”

LA’s Purest Form is on a quest to set you free. Their S/T EP, out now, bolts together heavy metal and EBM for a modern industrial sound that combines the cathartic freedom found both on club dance floors and in sweaty mosh pits. Formed in 2023, the band consists of guitarist and programmer Madison Woodward (Fury, Object of Affection), bassist Riley Joyner (Pocketknife), and vocalist Story Beeson (Choking on Ash, Vacant Future), who were brought together by fate to make bodies pulse to machine metal noise and release us from the mundanity of our daily grind. They’ve also released a sinister, striking video for the EP’s closer ‘Self Destruction.’ The track leans further into influences such as Ministry, Godlfesh and Sepultura. “It’s about one’s outward ego / inner self and the complicated battle between the two,” tells the band. The video was directed / shot by Jeremy Stith and “was inspired by 1990’s ‘Begotten’ with costume and aesthetics as well as Wim Wenders camera work,” notes Beeson. Watch it below.

Germany’s hottest modern metalcore unit, SETYØURSAILS, tears up the scene once again. After extensive touring with Annisokay, Emil Bulls, Cypecore and Lord Of The Lost, and last year’s outstanding festival performances at Summer Breeze and Fullforce, the Cologne based outfit recently announced the new studio album and drops its brand-new second single, ‘Lately’. Their second full-length via Napalm Records, entitled Bad Blood, will be released on April 12, 2024 and features 10 hard-hitting tracks, shaking the listener to the core. Cut from Bad Blood, ‘Lately’ drops with an official music video and showcases the versatile vocal expressions of frontwoman Jules, ranging from vicious screams over powerful singing to compressed whispering, while raging drums and heavy guitar support the catchy refrain. Vocalist Jules Mitch on ‘Lately’: “‘Lately’ shows the intimate, vulnerable side of us that we have never revealed before. Coming to terms with your demons is never easy, but writing a ballad about it and publishing it is even harder. I hope that people find themselves in this song and understand that they are not alone.” [via Outburn]

Industrial-tinged and true crime-inspired electronic duo SKYND is the dark creative outlet and the alter ego of its lead singer, Skynd, and producer and multi-instrumentalist Father. They are known for taking inspiration from inexplicable and brutal criminal cases and the mystery surrounding unsolved deaths, and transforming them into songs to remind us of the darkness within the human psyche, while taking great care to avoid any glorification. Small clusters of songs have been released as EPs, titled in numbered chapters. SKYND conclude Chapter V, with the release of ‘Heaven’s Gate.’ Heaven’s Gate was a religious group, commonly regarded as a cult, that formed in 1974 and is most well known for one of the world’s largest mass suicides of its members in March 1997. Skynd ponders, “What personality and psychological factors are at play in people who readily submit their lives and wills to cult leaders such as Jim Jones and Marshall Applewhite? How can they not see these people are barking mad? The madness of the cult leader is usually not apparent when the person first joins. This is the second case I have written about a cult. Two cults that cannot be compared with each other and yet they have some (or a lot of) parallels. As incredible and bizarre as Heaven’s Gate seems, there are still cults today that brainwash their followers. The whole concept of cults fascinates me because it’s always the same thing. Usually the takeover of your freedom, your thoughts, etc. is a very gradual process. And the taking away of a little piece of your freedom or identity is not seen as a big deal. It’s just a small sacrifice for a good cause. The trouble is, those small sacrifices add up until they’re a huge pile of sacrifices. But by then you’re so indoctrinated into the group that it really doesn’t matter to you that much. You’ve bought into the group’s message and mission. The group is your “family” now. It’s their influence that drives you rather than your own inner voice of reason. Marshall Applewhite and Bonnie Nettles (known as Do and Ti) were able to appeal to members by reaching out to people disillusioned with society and religious spaces. Heaven’s Gate first ran into a major problem in 1985, one that confronts many “prophetic” religious leaders, cult or otherwise. When Ti passed away in 1985 due to liver cancer, her body did not ascend per Heaven’s Gate’s theology. So, Do had to adapt his teachings to this observable contradiction of the cult’s beliefs. I personally blame Marshall for continuing anyway, even though he knew it was a total lie.” [via Metal Planet]

Brace yourselves for a musical powerhouse as MuddiBrooke unleashes their latest single, ‘Float,’ a track that not only packs a punch but also carries echoes of the iconic bands of the 90’s Indie Rock scene. ‘Float’ is a sonic force to be reckoned with, delivering an electrifying blend of harmonies that draw you in with a deceptive sense of calm before hitting you with intense drops, transcendent melodies, and satisfying distortion. As the track takes listeners on a rollercoaster of emotions, the vocals stand out as a distinctive element, reminiscent of the ethereal sound that characterized All About Eve’s music. Anna says – “’Float’ comes from the feeling of elation, after being set free from a long-lasting, dead-end situation.” [via Rock News]

IN SΦNDER are bursting into 2024 with the new offering ‘Evenpath’. The melancholic yet compelling ballad-esque track entwines the quartet’s diverse style of riffs, electronics and vocal harmonies into a haunting, textural and catchy sound. Fletch comments: “‘Evenpath’ is our third single from our upcoming EP Rumination Theory. The goal was to write something a bit melancholy and ballad like but without losing the fun synths, interesting riffs and diverse ideas that we’re known for! It’s actually been a bit of a running joke that since our CURSE OF DAWN days we’ve been able to happily write most things, but our attempts at ballads have always been very meh. It’s certainly given us a new appreciation for bands/songs in that style! It was actually written before the formation of IN SΦNDER when we’d been hoping to get a new project together but weren’t sure what that would look like in terms of lineup. Initially there were some concerns that this might be too different to the new ‘cyber metal’ direction, but I’ve always been super passionate about it and fortunately the others agreed once I’d finished mocking up a new enhanced version!”

Fasten your seatbelts, as German modern metalcore upstarts SETYØURSAILS aren’t slowing down in 2024. After taking over stages at festivals like Summer Breeze and Full Force in 2023, the quartet is now set to drop their second studio album, Bad Blood, scheduled for release on April 12 via Napalm Records. Jumping right into the pit with hard-hitting first single ‘Bad Blood,’ SETYØURSAILS teams up with Zebrahead vocalist Adrian Estrella and showcases no mercy as modern electronic melodies and energetic screams build up to a top-notch breakdown. Vocalist Jules Mitch on ‘Bad Blood’: “This song is a personal reckoning that was more than easy for me to write. It reminds me that I’m stronger and more mature than my haters will ever be. You often get motivation from people who want to see you down. I hope they keep it up, I’m not done yet.” [via Outburn]

Elettra Storm will release the debut album, Powerlords, on February 16 through Scarlet Records. Now, the band releases a video for ‘Origin Of Dreams’, the third single from the album.

Los Angeles duo KRASHKARMA is unveiling their latest single ‘Survive The Afterlife’ accompanied by a music video in support of their forthcoming album Falling To Pieces due out on June 23 via Rockshots Records. The song is about whether heaven or hell really exists, or if they’re just inventions made by those who can benefit from them. The band explains the track further: “These lyrics are about a fictional character who dies and enters the afterlife, only to be rejected by “heaven” and then sent to a place with all the sinners and whores. However, he was also rejected by this “hell” and returns to the living world. The message is that we are all human and no one is good enough to deserve heaven or bad enough to burn in hell. We all share the same fate and should focus on being the best version of ourselves here on Earth. The song touches on themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the search for meaning after death.”

Following last month’s lead single ‘Anti-Fetish,’ Vexed have now unveiled the next track from their upcoming album Negative Energy. The band’s new one goes by the very emo name ‘X my <3 (Hope to die)’, but given this is Vexed it’s naturally another crushingly heavy rager with a sinister accompanying video. And Vexed reveal that this song in particular was the “catalyst” for Negative Energy as a whole… “After months of writer’s block and feeling like giving up, this song opened the floodgates for inspiration and creativity,” the band say. “Inspired by the victims of religious extremists, cults or abuse of power, this song is about how one person shouldn’t be able to dictate other people’s lives based on their own personal opinions.” [via Karrang!]

After successfully dropping their second album and label debut, Nightfall, in January 2022, followed by extensive touring with Annisokay, Emil Bulls and Cypecore, German metalcore upstarts SETYØURSAILS aren’t slowing down – offering another special treat with their brand-new standalone single ‘Best of Me’, out now. On this intense new offering, the Cologne-based outfit led by vocalist Jules Mitch skillfully balances beautiful melodic and fierce heavy parts, leading to an intense breakdown. ‘Best of Me’ is underlined via an intense official music video, capturing the song’s essence and attitude in the best way. With a new visual surrounding the song, it also represents the next chapter in the band’s history and keeps the anticipation high for everything that is about to come. Jules Mitch on ‘Best of Me’L “With ‘Best of Me’, we herald a new era for SETYØURSAILS. We have once again unconsciously pushed the boundaries of different genres in search of our sound and our soul. We hope that with this single we can get the necks headbanging and the venues shaking. Same as our last album, Nightfall, ‘Best of Me” also tells of my personal struggle with depression and the daily challenges that come with it. I hope that people can identify with this track and I wish everyone who struggles with mental health a lot of strength and power!” [via Rock n Load Mag]

Japan’s Nemophila recently wrapped up a triumphant U.S. tour, having previously made their mark on this side of the Pacific by playing 2022’s Aftershock festival. Now, the Tokyo-based metal rising stars — who count Arch Enemy, Slipknot and Dream Theater among their influences — have commemorated the trek and their return home with a new single, ‘Night Flight,’ a shreddy earworm not far flung from Babymetal’s poppy sound, and the song’s accompanying performance video. “This is a song we’ve been playing live for some time, but have not recorded or released it until now,” Nemophila singer and founder mayu commented of the new single. “Please take a look at the video, as well, as it does a great job capturing the spirit of the song.” [via Revolver]
