Irish native Melanin Tee comes through with her latest release ‘Badda Than Who?’ alongside dynamic visuals shot by Dublin’s Twitch. Drawing inspiration from her personal struggles with insecurity and self-confidence, Melanin Tee penned this track in order to inspire her listeners and fans that they too are “the baddest!” Skating over the energetic Drill instrumental in signature Melanin style, ‘Badda Than Who’ is yet another offering from Melanin Tee that is sure to grab the attention of both your eyes and ears.

21-year-old singer and rapper Shan.X has released a new genre-bending single ‘Mr.Know’. The pop and rap-influenced R&B track dives into Shan.X’s complex past relationships and reflects on how her most recent relationship ended. X wrote this song very shortly after her last relationship came to an end, around a similar time that she wrote ‘Wish IGAF’. Shan’s ex left without communicating upfront about what was going on, and this song is a reflection on the whole situation and the end of their relationship. When asked about the song, Shan.X said she was speaking on lots of things that were happening “right before he left because those were the things that were standing out to me the most in that time”. This single seems to blend Shan.X’s R&B influences with her more alternative and rap influences. On ‘Mr. Know’, X attacks the beat with a strong vocal presence and catchy melodies, combined with raspy rhythmic adlibs. ‘Mr. Know’ reveals the depth of Shan.X’s unique artistry encapsulating the many stylistic talents that she has, and draws listeners in connecting with them and sharing her vulnerabilities. This single lets listeners get to know Shan.X on a deeper level.

Ivorian Doll has marked her return with a bang, as she sends shots on a brand new musical release, dubbed ‘PETTY’. The track finds IVD firing lyrical barbs towards the way of any naysayers, as she responds to some comments made recently about her looks that she didn’t take too kindly to, responding with some serious jabs. The visuals feature primarily a one take shot and come courtesy of director Crematics. [via GRM Daily]

It’s been a few months since we last heard from Paigey Cakey musically, but she makes up for lost time with the release of a new track called ‘Trust Me’. The song takes on a R&Drill sound, with the traditional skittering drum patterns usually associated with the darker sounds of the genre, with much warmer melodies. Lyrically she’s on romance, whilst the accompanying music video brings the bars to life and finds two love birds out and about. [via GRM Daily]

21-year-old singer, rapper, model, and YouTube personality Shan.X just released a new genre-bending single ‘Wish IGAF’. The alternative rap and metal trap-influenced track is a break up anthem at its core. Reflecting on her writing experience, X says, “My ex had just broken up with me and I was like I wish IGAF like damn and then I just wrote it. I was definitely in my bag, I definitely gave a fuck tho. DEFINITELY”. The versatility in Shan.X’s catalog is clear when comparing ‘Wish IGAF’ with her previous most recent release, ‘Me’; as her last release was an R&B track and this single is on a whole new wave. The strong electric guitar on the beat blends perfectly with Shan.Xs aggressive vocals and adlibs, creating a badass angry vibe.

One of the great feelgood stories in rap this year has been the rise of Memphis party-starter GloRilla, whose viral smash ‘FNF (Let’s Go)’ came out of nowhere and crashed the charts just as summer was starting up. Since then, GloRilla has signed with Yo Gotti’s CMG label, and she’s put out some great collabs. GloRilla releases Anyways, Life’s Great…, her debut EP. Before the record arrived, she had one more song for us. You don’t get any prizes for figuring out what ‘Nut Quick’ is all about. GloRilla is an extremely direct rapper; it’s one of her great strengths. On ‘Nut Quick,’ she goes in hard over a simple, hammering beat. She really talks her shit on this one: “I’m a raw-ass bitch, but swear to God I can’t be fucked with/ Found out I was pregnant, got it gone, and I ain’t fuck since/ He thought I would be crazy after sex, but I ain’t nothin’/ He could’ve been my favorite sneaky link, but he just nut quick.” If she’s rapping about you, you’re having a bad day.
Chanelle Kazadi‘s video for ‘Smile’ captivates with its vibrance and mesmerizing sound. Kazadi, who grew up in Ravenna, Ohio, found her true passion in music after initially pursuing a career as a professional boxer. After releasing a series of strong early project, she built momentum and shared her versatile 2021 album Make It Work, which she then followed up with two singles, ‘Pootie Tang’ and ‘Smile’, the latter of which has now been given a fresh accompanying visual that captures its ethereal, warm sonics. ‘Smile’, produced by Dawg9000, blooms with textural, glowing samples chopped neatly atop a laid-back rhythm section consisting of refreshing percussion and a rich, engaging bassline. Atop the balmy instrumentation, Kazadi shines as she delivers a series of characteristically dynamic, fluid bars containing detailed, poetic lyricism. The new accompanying visual, directed by Ahmad Ghanim depicts Kazadi giving a commanding yet easygoing performance in front of a variety of beautifully scenic natural backdrops, reinforcing the song’s organic sound.
