Samantha Scarlette

Rising alt-rock artist Samantha Scarlette is back with a fiery new single, ‘FlameBoy’. This marks the second single from her, yet-to-be-named album, tentatively set for release in August 2025. Following the experimental sounds of her first single ‘Fully Flared,’ a unique dive into trap beats, ‘FlameBoy’ returns to Scarlette’s signature blend of alternative rock and emo, infused with a nostalgic 90s and early 00s vibe.

A mid-tempo anthem for those who’ve experienced love at first sight, ‘FlameBoy’ is a song about finding your twin flame—capturing the intensity and magic of that connection. Heavily inspired by the world of skate culture, the song’s title is a playful nod to the iconic World Industries skateboard cartoon characters FlameBoy & Wet Willie.

“I’ve always loved the idea of twin flames and how that connection feels like finding the other half of yourself,” says Scarlette. “‘FlameBoy’ that moment of realizing you’ve met someone who feels like they complete you in a way no one else does. It’s an emotional, raw track that blends the energy of alt-rock and emo with some fun, nostalgic elements.”

Denise Battaglia herself tells us about the genesis of ‘Bicchieri’: “‘Bicchieri’ is a song of almost six minutes, a sort of mini operetta with four different musical themes inside. It tells of my unhealthy habit of not finishing things, not even what I have in my glass.

“Two fingers from the bottom I stop drinking, it’s an unconditioned reflex. My father still scolds me to this day. In the past, to avoid arguments, at the end of dinner I would take the half-empty glass away with me, ending up accumulating a vast array of them on the piano. One day while I was playing, enraptured by the sight of those glassy containers, the phrase “I leave the bottom of the glass for you to drink” came to me.

“From this phrase comes ‘Bicchieri,’ a song in which I tell everything I left half-empty and everything I lost due to a lack of responsibility.

“In the “glasses” that I tell, I also included the answers that I would have liked to give to the unsolicited advice, to the firm judgments of those who consider art something mathematical and calculable. I am sure that if I had had the courage, I would have answered them in dialect.

“The central theme of this song, and common to the entire EP, is however the need to see and enjoy the little things with a serene soul and far from worries, immersed in a state of grace that I describe with two chords.

“Today I listen and smile. The freedom of expression that accompanies this phase of my life fills me with peace.”
