Alongside the announcement came the release of ‘EAST SIDE GIRL,’ the album’s opener and spiritual prologue. The music video of ‘EAST SIDE GIRL’ is just as tempting, romantic and flirtatious as the track itself. Depicting the unique warmth and romance of the city, ‘EAST SIDE GIRL’ captured the timeless and charming nature of Los Angeles with just enough modern twist on old-school R&B.

“Stylistically, I think this is my favorite song on the album,” said St. Panther regarding, ‘EAST SIDE GIRL.’ “I wanted to capture a certain sonic my neighborhood carries that was inspired by my next door neighbor’s playlist he made a religion out of — same sequence of songs daily since I moved here back in 2020. His playlist felt like a ride through our block in his lowrider: oldies, funk, soul, and a blend of hip-hop curated through a chicano lens.”

They continued: “Our culture has always had a certain signature and binary gender, but over the years we’ve started to see it completely revamped and enriched by queer people across Mexico and now here. This song is more than just about a crush, I wanted the allure and invitation to our neighborhood to include the most beautiful parts of our culture here, the queer community. This song captures the attitude and charm of the queers in our neighborhood, how a story becomes more vibrant because they’re not just seen and represented, they’re the main event. This is that.”

An instant classic, ‘The Deal’ is the moment in the upcoming Strange World EP where St. Panther stops dedicating themselves to the fast-moving world for just a moment, to reassess how that might’ve hurt something more tender and closer to home. Accompanying the single, St. Panther releases a mesmerizing and meditative live performance video of ‘The Deal,’ featuring various long-time collaborators including the upcoming EP’s co-producer, McClenney (H.E.R., Khalid, Jamila Woods).

On the new single, St. Panther said: “Now I’m not sure if it’s always right to, but I tend to put music where prolonged silences live. I’m not sure why it’s so hard to say what sometimes only music can, but in this case I wish someone had known me better and wanted to write a song like Dido’s ‘White Flag’ shortly afterward, a song that said – if nothing else – my love was true.”

Alongside the announcement, St. Panther released the EP title track, ‘Strange World,’ featuring Grammy-winning singer/songwriter/rapper, Rae Khalil (Anderson Paak) and co-written with Erik Bodin of Little Dragon.

On the track, St. Panther said: “Since the last time I put out a project, our world has only gotten stranger, which has only made my work more intentional. In this gap, I set out to write music about our world in the state it’s in now and imagine a future beyond it with some of my favorite people to talk about the world with. In ‘Strange World’ you can hear us all in the studio together, laughing in between takes so often it bled into the actual recording, which we decided to keep because the spirit of that felt important. I truly believe that hope and joy can alter the state of anything, especially when the world feels most divided/needs healing. It’s all in the lyrics, I’m still rooting for us.”
