Toronto powerhouse rapper Haviah Mighty joins forces with rising R&B sensation Shantel May on her latest release, ‘Lucky,’ a bold collaboration between two of the city’s most compelling voices. Opening with intricate keys and a laid-back groove, ‘Lucky’ sets the tone with funky bass lines and Haviah’s effortless, distinctive delivery. Produced by John Fellner, KTOE, and Haviah Mighty, the track marks the third installment in Haviah’s V2 Healing Era.

Following ‘Double the Fun’ and ‘OK!’, she teams up with Shantel May to blend luscious, soulful vocals a la Whitney Houston or Beyoncé, with confident bars, creating a rich contrast. Rooted in classic boom bap and live instrumentation, ‘Lucky’ explores mutual appreciation in a relationship where both partners know they’re fortunate to have each other, but question whether that gratitude is truly seen. While continuing to echo themes of self-love and inner worth, the song also leans into the longing for care and validation from others.

Talking on the track, Haviah tells us: “When this combination is right… any connection feels magical. Lucky, even.”

Genre-bending North Carolina rapper TiaCorine drops ‘Fall In Love,’ a ride-or-die anthem set to her signature blend of hard bars, snapping drums, and kaleidoscopic melodies.

‘Fall In Love’ may be a love song, but fans know better than to expect the softer side of TiaCorine. She comes at romance with the same intent and intensity that she brings to past verses. Over a warped funk-soul sample and crystalized synth lines, she makes her intent known: “I’m really her, the way I pulled up to your avenue / Change your latitude, might fly you out and buy you tennis shoes, baby boo.”

With ‘Boffum,’ Saweetie delivered a quintessential Saweetie track — but also a stunning video. On Friday, as she released EP Hella Pressure, the rap queen shared the visual for her Young Buck-sampling single.

“The duality of Saweetie is ‘Boffum.’ I’m this and I’m that,” Saweetie tells Rolling Stone of the track. “There’s just always such a discourse online of people wondering where I’m from, what do I really act like… this and that. But it’s just like what you see is really what you get.”

She adds: “I’m a very complex individual, and it’s because I’ve lived so many lives. So, because I’ve been placed in so many environments, it’s produced a woman who can do a lot of things organically, naturally.”

‘Boffum’ is featured on her new EP, Hella Pressure, which includes songs such as ‘Twinzz,’ the opening track ‘Pressure,’ and ‘Superstars,’ alongside K-pop group Twice.

Genre-bending rap phenom TiaCorine kicks in doors with the hard-hitting ‘Ate,’ out now via Interscope Records. As the new single swan dives into the stuttering, bass-blasted world of drill, the rising artist celebrates the fact that she’s eating while her rivals struggle to keep up.

Produced by Pooh Beatz, Go Grizzly, Cheeze Beatz, and Icarus, ‘Ate’ drops TiaCorine into a rattling soundscape of futuristic synths and blasted drums. She stays on top, switching between taunting tones and hard bars as she brags about bleeding men dry with the verve of a folk legend in the making: “I take everything from these n—-s and give it to b—–s, I sound like a hero / Bad b—- Robin Hood, I get dollars, yen, euros.”

The ‘Ate’ video, directed by Fred Focus, drives home TiaCorine’s wild charisma and God-given dominance as she strolls into a bar and not only quickly becomes the center of attention, but transforms the night into a chaotic rager. It’s a reminder that the North Carolina artist is careening toward a major breakthrough following releases like last year’s kaleidoscopic ‘Different Color Stones,’ a gift to fans as she works on her next album.

Rising drill phenom STAR BANDZ has just released her new visual for ‘Mirror Mirror’, a standout track from her debut mixtape, ESTRELLA, which dropped in 2024 via Priority Records/Capitol Records.

Directed by frequent collaborator Sergio Esparza, the defiant new music video for ‘Mirror Mirror’ featuring BabyChiefDoIt amplifies the 16-year-old’s unapologetic attitude, showing off her relentless swagger and hard-hitting bars. Filmed against the backdrop of a luxurious mansion, the video showcases STAR BANDZ’s signature confidence and lyrical prowess as she delivers a performance that’s bold and unforgettable.

Cristale flexes on new one-two ‘Vogue’ and ‘Olive Branch’.

The South London artist is hugely talented, a lyricist who can work in multiple lanes. Essentially drawing on the force of hip-hop – but with a UK slant – she’s a MOBO nominated rapper, someone working with real velocity.

Out now, ‘Vogue’ and ‘Olive Branch’ show two differing aspects to her personality. Toddla T was on-hand in the studio, and he powers the crisp, fashion-forward roller ‘Vogue’.

A real flex – it comes a matter of days after London Fashion Week – on the flip you can find the more introspective, soulful, and spacious ‘Olive Branch’. [via Clash]

Hip-hop phenomenon TiaCorine pulls us back into her kaleidoscopic, genre-blurring world with ‘Different Color Stones,’ a smooth, melody-blessed celebration of self-love, that’s out now via Interscope Records. Her first official drop since February’s critically acclaimed Almost There EP, the new single finds the North Carolinian artist cycling through vocal styles, and only adds to the sense that she is on the fast track towards a major breakthrough. “’Different Colored Stones’ is my first single since my ep… I’ve been recording so much recently… working on my album but I wanted to give my fans something while I’m still working,” said TiaCorine, “It was hard to choose which song but my daughter and my team all said this one was their favorite so I’m trying a new thing where I don’t overthink and trust other people opinions so here we are.” ‘Different Color Stones’ comes with a Moshpit directed video. It finds Tia flaunting through the streets of Brooklyn. Produced by Pooh Beatz, Ambezza, Fizzle, and JULiA LEWiS, ‘Different Colored Stones’ kicks off with pretty synth notes and an 808-boosted groove. Busy hi-hats, guitar strums, and swirling atmosphere complete the soundscape, but TiaCorine’s voice is the most powerful instrument. She moves from low-key bars to high and harmonious coos, and staccato shouts to melodic fast rap.

North London’s rising rapper, Chy Cartier is doing her thing on spicy new release, ‘YO’. Between the energising ad libs and smooth, braggadocios flows, Chy Cartier has cooked up something special with this one. The lyrics are fun, fearless and fiery as she lets us know exactly who she is and what she’s about. Chy is flexing and she’s not sorry about it. [via GRM Daily]

Bktherula is throwing it back to the early 2000s. Equipped with a high-octane sample from Vano3000’s viral ‘Adult Swim’ edit of BADBADNOTGOOD‘s ‘Time Moves Slow’, ‘Adult Swim’ is just the dose of nostalgia we needed to enter the weekend. “I got the swag for sure, I got the— bag for sure / Kobe, I got 2-4, in the bank / Yeah, my boys be smoking like 24/7, the bus smell like dank,” she spits on the verse. [via Hypebeast]

Glorilla has announced a new project that’s being billed as her debut album: Glorious is out October 11. The 15-track release will include ‘TGIF’ and a new song called ‘Hollon.’ Take a listen to the latter track below. [via Pitchfork]

Atlanta rap star Kaliii is expecting a bundle of joy soon, but she isn’t letting that stop her from putting in work and enjoying the fruits of the other kind of labor. In the video for her new single ‘Hot Girl Maybach,’ Kaliii shows off both her baby bump and some expensive rides as she rocks a silver gown in the driveway of a mansion surrounded by the titular luxury autos.
Monaleo is prepping for her new project. Throwing Bows might be the most spot-on title for a Monaleo project. Her rap style and bars exhibit similar actions that you would see in a boxing ring. Ironically, the cover for the aforementioned tape displays exactly that as she’s knocked out a man cold. Even crazier, is that Monaleo and Kaliii sound like they want to throw down with some toxic men for their girlfriends on their new single ‘Flush Em’. This track comes just a week ahead of Throwing Bows, which will be her second LP of her still bubbling career. ‘Flush Em’, which features production from Bankroll Got It, is the third offering, as it comes after ‘Passenger Princess’ and ‘Don Who Leo’. While the flows are a bit clunky and do sound like Latto at times, what you can’t deny is the energy and mic presence from Monaleo. [via HNHH]

Newcomer Southwest London rapper Ellie Saprano introduces herself to the music scene with her debut single ‘Southside Bad Bitch’, showcasing her nostalgic, yet modern flair as she comes in the game with lyrics full of confidence, style and uniqueness. ‘Bad Bitch’ showcases Ellie Saprano’s stylistic flow over a beat produced by Blueee. The video encapsulates the ‘bad bitch’ vibes full of drip, cars and more females. Ellie Saprano is the newest signing to UK rap veteran Corleone’s GB Records – tying her to a tight knit musical family (TeeZandos, ISong) resonating with themes of strength and unity. Corleone, a significant influence in Ellie’s journey, recognised her potential early on and provided unwavering support. “One of the most exciting moments for me so far has been the process of creating the track and filming the music video for my debut single, ‘Southside Bad B*tch’. This experience has not only boosted my confidence, but also reinforced my belief that I am on the right track and following the correct path in my musical journey”.

On the fast track towards a major breakthrough, genre-bending hip-hop phenomenon TiaCorine unleashes the slick and scorching new music video for ‘Shamone’ out now via Interscope Records. It graces the tracklisting of her tastemaker-approved new Almost There EP—out now. A two-minute burst of braggadocios bravado, ‘Shamone’ spotlights TiaCorine’s bulletproof bars and fiery flow front-and-center. 808s rattle through shaky synths, and she warns, “I’m still never gonna pick up.” In the accompanying Moshpxt directed visual, she descends upon the desert. Letters spell out “The End of the World” in the sand, and this hip-hop femme fatale proceeds to body the beat with the force of an apocalyptic event. An outfit change and a smoke break gives way to a final scene of TiaCorine against the backdrop of a setting sun, donning fur, rapping unapologetically with confidence.

South London force Shaybo returns with new single ‘Get It’. Out now, the single finds Shaybo reclaiming her throne – yep, the Queen of the South is back. Switching it up once more, she’s recruited new production talent, pushing herself harder in the booth than ever before. As a result, the Nigerian born, Lewisham raised magnet is on top form with this new track. Legendury Beatz take control of the sonic palette – the duo behind seminal afrobeats hits ‘Ojuelegba’ and ‘Essence’ by Wizkid – but there’s a UK twist in there, too. Shaybo shows her finesse with each bar, the regal South London talent going hard from the off. As ever, there’s a dose of femme energy, with ‘Get It’ presenting the balance between confronting expectations and producing something true to herself. [via Clash]

With Atlanta, Georgia being one of the hubs for hip-hop, you already know that there is going to be an abundance of varying talent and styles. Anycia is someone who does not exactly fit into one specific lane. That is apparent through her casual mic presence and lyricism. It has quickly become an easily recognizable sound and it is why she will be cementing her star status very shortly when she releases her debut album. ‘BAD WEATHER’ from Anycia is now most likely the third single from the LP.
Nairobi-born, Adelaide-based singer, rapper and producer Elsy Wameyo has shared her new single ‘Sinner,’ a blistering track that puts Wameyo’s virtuosic MC chops on full display. “Introspection brought light to a darkness I never wanted to unveil, the consequences of a munificent heart that had nothing left to give,” Wameyo shares, “My spirit man asleep exposed me to a world that very quickly incapacitated me physically and spiritually. I became a product of my environment and gave in to my flesh, embracing the wickedness and ignorance of its existence. I chose me. I understood that light shines brightest in the dark, so the more I wandered, the closer I would be to returning. Life will forever be a fight between the good and the bad. I call it the sinner’s condition. In the end, only the strong will survive. Watch the cinematic visual directed by Wameyo & Danny Skilton below, which finds her in various church settings and processions, juxtaposing shots depicting her as a goddess and a churchgoer.
TiaCorine, the North Carolina rapper and songwriter, has released the official mixed media music video for ‘Bonnet’. Over the uptempo Oxtoa production, she contends against fellow rappers who are, unfortunately, stale haters and makes mention of her gay hypeman and Asian DJ. Tapping into her Japanese-African American father’s heritage, the ‘Freaky T’ singer gives fans a deeper look into her “anime trap” style. Check out the visual masterpiece below to see who wins and survives. The single is from TiaCorine’s eight-track EP Almost There featuring guest versions from Luh Tyler, Key Glock, and Detroit’s Zeelooperz. [via GrungeCake]

Bktherula has announced a new project titled LVL 5 P2, the direct sequel to her most recent record. The album is due out March 8 via Warner Records and its lead single, ‘Crayon,’ is out now. On the new song, the Atlanta MC darts across a persistent, bass-heavy beat, moving through two hooks and an interceding verse like a running back slicing through a defensive line. “And that bitch talk so much shit but she ain’t gon’ say nun’ / If you wanna race me up to the top, then bitch, put the Tay-K on,” she raps in a nimble, Auto-Tuned flow. The song comes with a music video in which Bk rides through a city, finding creative uses for her seemingly endless supply of crayons along the way. Watch the clip and stream the song below.
JT is releasing the record and video for her solo song ‘Sideways’ (Quality Control Music/Motown). One half of the renowned hip-hop duo City Girls with Yung Miami, ‘Sideways’ comes off the success of her solo single ‘No Bars’. ‘Sideways’ previews JT’s upcoming solo EP, and ushers in a new chapter for her as she comes into her own. “’Sideways’ is a mood! Sometimes women are forced to be friends with everyone and if we decide to stay to our self they call us mean,” she says. “Most of these btches nosey & phony! I love my btches though, the real ones. Shout out to the real b*tches!” Combining brazen charisma with sneering bars and the raucous energy of Miami nightlife, JT specializes in making girls feel empowered and to have permission to act up. The video is a testament to just that with a wild ‘Girls Night Out’ in Miami.

Brooklyn-born recording artist Lola Brooke unveils her latest music video to ‘God Bless All The Rappers.’ The powerful, BenMarc-directed official music video made its broadcast premiere on BET Jams and on the Paramount Times Square billboards. The base-knocking track, which samples ‘A Child of God (It’s Hard to Believe)’ by Millie Jackson was first revealed during the latter part of 2023 with the release of Lola’s debut project, Dennis Daughter, which is out now. ‘God Bless All The Rappers’ is a masterful blend of sound and vision from the globally acclaimed rap star. In the song, Lola professes her respect and compassion for all rappers across the board as she sheds light on the judgment and dangers that can arise from being a rapper. A story hardly told, she calls into action the need to value the lives of all rappers in a fashion that matches the acclaim received for the music that is shared by her community. The visual vividly brings into focus this notion, evoking emotion that displays Lola’s determination to raise attention to an ordeal that she is susceptible to with being a rapper herself.
Returning with more heat to close out the summer, platinum superstar Coi Leray unveils a new single entitled ‘Fly Sh!t’ via Uptown Records/Republic Records. On the track, flute-style loops wrap around the head-nodding beat as her instantly recognizable cadence takes hold. She leans into the production with a promise to “Shut down the mall, do whatever I want,” before igniting a knockout hook. Once again, ‘Fly Sh!t’ sees Coi flex her lyrical prowess and undeniable star power without compromise.

Emerging Nigeria-born, UK-based rapper DEELA returns with a double release. The singles ‘anyways/whatchu mean’ are two distinct songs that showcase DEELA’s unapologetic and carefree style. The first cut ‘anyways’ is underpinned by a dreamy synth-driven bouncy soundscape and her stream of consciousness flow. She weaves through the grooves effortlessly changing her cadence at will while discarding the social constraints that try to box her in. ‘whatchu mean’ has a warm and sombre aesthetic and starts off with DEELA’s melodic hook which flows into a fast-paced performance that blends dancehall and rap aesthetics. The bravado displayed here is off the wall as the rapper takes shots at the detractors and naysayers in one fell swoop. Lines like “Jumping on beats like I’m switching my keys, don’t answer to no one, I do what I did/sweep up the house, they call me the breeze” show her unpredictability and smooth bars alike. [via Earmilk]

TiaCorine is one of North Carolina’s finest hip-hop exports, with a buttery sweet voice that delivers sharp, witty bars for days. On her latest single, ‘Chaka Khan,’ Tia teams up with longtime friend and collaborator Kenny Beats for a sickeningly sweet and nostalgic romp through the rapper’s mind as she flashes an awe-inspiring sexual prowess and sharp sense of humor. Beats’ chameleonic nature allows him to emphasize her strengths, laying out the foundation with smooth and minimalist production laced with funk and jazz influences as Tia prances around effortlessly. She taunts, teases and commands as she switches between silky vocals and conversational raps. As for the song’s vibrant and bubbly video, Tia chose to keep it literal. “I’ve actually been sitting on ‘Chaka Khan’ for a while,” she explains. “I dropped a snippet of it with a 10 or 15 second video clip earlier this year — everyone loved how literal it was, so I wanted to keep that same idea for the video, really leaning into that old school aesthetic while also keeping it fresh and fun.” From drop-dead gorgeous looks to cheesy green screens (including a hilarious costume change of her doing her best dad impression), Tia’s charm goes far beyond what she’s proven she could do with her raps. She blends humor, early ’00s aesthetics and a shameless desire to push the limits of her creativity to wrap up in a perfect package deal. TiaCorine is the future. [via PAPER]

Ka’Reema sets the upbeat energy with ‘Gone Again’. Throughout the new track, she makes it clear that she’s a boss-lady and asserts that no one can try her. Nontheless, she states her priority is making money and she has no time for haters or drama. The instrumental for this tune was rightfully picked as it matches Ka’Reema’s vibrancy. The Romael-produced visuals showcase the femcee in a shisha bar with her friends. [via GRM Daily]

Florida artist Skodi has shared a fresh new visual for her song ‘F.O.M.W.’ Following up her powerful, infectious singles ‘MAD!’ and ‘1984’, ‘F.O.M.W.’ continues her streak of imposing, sharply-crafted releases that pair charismatic bars with heavy, raw production. Accompanied by an energizing new video shot by Fxrbes, ‘F.O.M.W.’ wastes no time in making a strong statement straight out of the gate. ‘F.O.M.W.’ contains darkly cathartic instrumentation centred around driving 808s and crisp percussion that gets the heart racing. Atop the hard-hitting beat, Skodi delivers dynamic verses full of lyrics bristling with authenticity, rapping with a textural, gripping vocal style that commands the listener’s full attention throughout. The accompanying visual makes ‘F.O.M.W.’ a cohesive, exciting experience, matching the song’s raw energy with fast-paced, electrifying shots. Overall, ‘F.O.M.W.’ makes for an enthralling release, enticing the listener with its nocturnal, adrenaline-fuelled sonics and engaging visuals. [via Earmilk]

North Carolina rapper TiaCorine has released her first new song of 2022.
Megan Thee Stallion debuted a new song during the first weekend of Coachella 2022. Now, she’s graced us with an official release of the single. It’s called ‘Plan B,’ and you can check it out below. ‘Plan B’ samples Jodeci, Raekwon, and Ghostface Killah’s 1995 track ‘Freek’n You.’ When Megan introduced the new song from the Coachella stage, she said that it is “very motherfucking personal,” and dedicated it “to whom it may the fuck concern.” [via Pitchfork]

DreamDoll just released her newest single, ‘Ice Cream Dream’ featuring French Montana right on time for the summer. Together, the two New York-raised rappers collabed to deliver a steamy record. The song reimagines the classic 1995 track ‘Ice Cream’ by Raekwon featuring Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Cappadonna. [via HNHH]

The rapper Sampa The Great — who was born in Zambia, raised in Botswana, started releasing music while she lived in Australia, and recently moved back to Zambia — had her Coachella debut this month and seems destined for big things. In 2019, she released her debut studio album, The Return — which won the Australian Music Prize — and she’s gearing up for another album. Now, she’s released a new single, ‘Lane,’ which comes with a striking music video directed by Rochelle Rhembard and Imraan Christian, and incorporates a spoken-word piece called ‘Origin.’ The song itself is dreamy and determined and features an invigorating guest spot from Denzel Curry. “We’re not going to stay in one lane, we’re going to create multiple ones,” Sampa The Great said. “My truest self encourages me to explore different lanes, and go beyond what I think I know of myself.” [via Stereogum]
