Buzzing Brooklyn rapper and co-founder of rapidly rising hip-hop collective 41, Jenn Carter, unleashes a new single and music video entitled ‘Reverse’ featuring 2Rare via RiteOrWrongKVH Entertainment/Republic Records. Switching gears sonically, the track layers an ethereal loop above drill-style 808s before the momentum gives way to a bumping Jersey Club-style rhythm. Against this backdrop, Jenn’s punchy flow and braggadocious bars instantly make a mark. Philadelphia phenomenon 2Rare pulls up with a scorching verse of his own as the song culminates on a chantable hook. The visual matches this energy as Jenn and 2Rare turn up surrounded by friends and no shortage of drip.

Lola Brooke’s 2023 is off to a seriously impressive start. She began by collaborating with Maiya The Don on the remix of Flo Milli’s ‘Conceited,’ which came shortly before a solo effort called ‘So DISRESPECTFUL.’ For her latest release, Brooke shared ‘Just Relax’, much to her fan’s pleasure. As REVOLT notes, the Reefa and Teddy Da Don-produced beat samples Black Sheep’s ‘The Choice Is Yours,’ taking us back in time. To match those vibes, the New Yorker filmed a throwback-inspired video, directed by Shanghaii, which sees her letting loose at a house party with plenty of friends. [via HNHH]

With a distinct style that blends hip-hop and dancehall in a seamless manner, Leicester rap artist Trillary Banks returns to the forefront with her new single ‘Bruce Lee’. As the title suggests, it is a pure showcase of bravado, encased with Trillary’s unique patois-infected flow and unapologetic lyrics. Once again, she teams up with longtime collaborator Maschine man Tim who cooks up this gritty flute-laden bass-heavy drill soundscape that is tailor-made for Trillary’s energetic performance. The accompanying visuals also accentuate the track with its blend of performance shots of Trillary with her squad running the streets and also capturing some shots in the gym. We see Trillary in both streetwear and a karate gi as she exudes an unfiltered demeanour while fully expressing herself. [via Earmilk]

Baby Tate and Saweetie team up in the colorful video for the remix of Tate’s 2016 single ‘Hey, Mickey!’ The original found Tate lamenting a love interest’s noncommital ways with a twist on Toni Basil’s 1981 hit. After the original went viral on TikTok, Tate tapped Saweetie to add her own flippant verse. Meanwhile, the video, which appears to be set in a Polly Pocket-like miniature universe, sees the two rappers clubbing and taking a plush road trip in the back of a pickup truck. [via Uproxx]

South London rapper/singer ENNY releases We Go Again out now via Jorja Smith’s FAMM label. Featuring production from Emil, Yogic, Baker Aaron, Beat Butcha, Linden Jay, long time collaborator Paya and a special guest feature from Loyle Carner, this brand new six-track collection was crafted by the artist over the past six months to be lovingly referred to as a “care package.” Alongside We Go Again, she’s also shared a new retro-inspired visual for the care package’s third single, ‘Charge It’, directed by Otis Dominque and ENNY herself in her directorial debut. Speaking on We Go Again, ENNY says, “After I dropped my first EP I was so convinced I’d never drop another project again, because I felt like I had said everything I wanted to say. These songs weren’t made to be a project they were created in random pockets of sessions throughout the past 18 months but life has turned them into a gift. A gift of growth and change; a gift to myself as a reminder that I’m still capable, and a gift to the people that have joined me so far on this journey. A care package. I’m learning there’s not a destination in this life thing. it’s a constant journey of learning to do better. The lesson I’m learning right now is that after every F*ck up, the only thing I can tell myself is fam…We go again.”

Toronto’s Ekelle rhymes about what she knows best: her real-life experience! Money, sex, drama, and identity stir together to create a style she calls Hood Pop – popular music with a street edge. She’s back with a new ‘bad bitch anthem’ titled ‘Flo’ which she remarks is her preferred song style. “We’re finally in a place where the music scene, especially in Canada where we are embracing Female rappers, allows us to exist independently without putting us all in a box.” It’s a sexy track perfect for a night out.

Back in February, Kash Doll teamed up with DJ Drama for Back On Dexter: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape, an 11-track offering with additional features from Lakeyah, Peezy, Babyface Ray, Sada Baby, Icewear Vezzo, YN Jay, and more. On Wednesday, April 5, the Detroit emcee dropped off a new visual from said project for ‘LEGIT,’ a Dooder and Joseph McFashion-produced offering that features fellow hometown hero Payroll Giovanni. The track sees the artists repping their city while flexing their hard-earned wealth and success. “Nobody wanna be like you when they get older, in the club tag-teaming bottles, bein’ big holders, it’s lonely at the top, but you won’t know, ’cause you ain’t built for it, my son spoiled, don’t like nothin’ else but Rick Owens, billionaire ties, got a sponsor by Rihanna, four-band bag, it say Loro Piana, in one night, I used to make $26,000, I don’t wanna hear a sentence, you won’t add another comma…” The accompanying clip for ‘LEGIT’ shows Kash Doll and Giovanni living it up at the bank, in a restaurant, and in a nightclub. All the while, authorities can be seen spotted doing surveillance for unknown reasons. [via Revolt]

Leicester rhymer Trillary Banks has accompanied the release of her new drop, ‘Bruce Lee’, with a fresh set of visuals. With her last solo drop being her Mykal Millions-hosted mixtape 90s Baby which dropped in March last year, it’s been a minute since we got some fresh material from Trillary. Despite this, she approaches this track as confident as ever with her patois-infused flows. Shot by Rexo Robinson, these visuals keep the focus on Trillary as she patrols the streets at night with some of her team. [via GRM Daily]

A few months ago, the fast-rising Bronx rap star Ice Spice released her debut EP Like…?, which collected all the tracks that turned her into a viral sensation and added a few more. One of the new ones was ‘Princess Diana,’ and the fact that Ice Spice was referring to herself as Princess Diana is just awesome. Now, Ice Spice has dropped a new version of that track, and it’s got a big boost from arguably the biggest star in all of New York rap. Ice Spice knows how much a remix can help a song. Almost immediately after she released her Like…? EP, Ice Spice showed up on the PinkPantheress remix ‘Boy’s A Liar Pt. 2,’ which quickly became one of the year’s biggest hits. Nicki Minaj, fresh off of her diss track ‘Ruby Red Da Sleaze’ and her appearance on fellow young star NBA YoungBoy’s ‘WTF,’ rides RIOTUSA’s bubbly drill-pop beat with a whole lot of energy. There’s a concept behind this remix: Nicki is the queen, and Ice Spice is the princess. Sure! The relationship between the actual Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana wasn’t all that friendly, but this one seems to be going fine, and it’s fun to hear these two together. The video for the ‘Princess Diana’ video is extremely pink, and its the first time an Ice Spice clip has any kind of production budget. [via Stereogum]
