Written by Unflirt and co-produced alongside Mack Jamieson (Stormzy, Mahalia), ‘Stains’ is a confessional indie-pop missive about self-awareness, personal growth and breaking free from negative thoughts patterns. It lands alongside a DIY, collage/scrapbook inspired video directed by Alex Budgen that feeds into her diaristic approach to songwriting.

Speaking on the track, Unflirt explains: “I wrote stains about the realisation that I was self sabotaging myself, and that these destructive patterns that I had been keeping were essentially the reason I kept getting upset! These patterns almost feel addictive, so I guess the song is about me coming to this realisation and figuring it all out. It’s also about how these patterns affect the people in my relationships, and trying hard to not make things worse!”

‘Anywhere’ is a confessional, heart-on-sleeve love song captured with a feeling of delicate intimacy as the singer-songwriter explains: “I wrote it when I started to fall in love with someone, and I really like how dreamy it is as it reminds me of exactly how I felt at that time. I hadn’t told that person that I loved them yet, so I think it’s a song that says that many times without saying it at all.”

The track follows previous single ‘Before Dawn’, which will appear on the four-track EP, written entirely by the 21-year-old and co-produced by Couros (Aurora, Tom Odell, Kito). An affirmation for embracing acceptance and change, on the new single Unflirt reflects;

“’Out of Time’ is about coming to terms that something is over. I think it encapsulates the whole process from denial to acceptance, and it’s a song that helped me accept that simply some things are just not meant to be, no matter how much I wanted them to be.”

‘Before Dawn’ is a dreamy introduction to Unflirt’s musical world, written retrospectively looking back at one of the most painful moments of the young artist’s life. Drenched in nostalgia and longing, the shoegazing guitar passages and lilting production allow for Unflirt’s unmistakeable vocal tone to take centre stage.

Speaking on the track, Unflirt explains: “‘Before Dawn’ is a song about reminiscing and wishing to go back. It’s about that phase when you’re trying to get over something but it feels impossible as you keep going back and forth in your head about what could’ve been different. I wrote it in my room about 2 years ago, and writing it really helped clear my head and almost allowed me to let it go, as I was able to make a really special song about a memory that was extremely sweet at the time but hurt me in many ways.”
