LIVING DEAD GIRL drops head-turning new single ‘Ugly’. Molly Rennick shares, “I wrote ‘Ugly’ from a place of feeling jaded and exasperated. I know most women are familiar with this exact feeling. ‘Ugly’ is about wanting to be taken seriously and listened to, without being belittled or objectified. There’s so much more to us than what’s on the outside; this song is for everyone who’s ever been made to feel like there isn’t.” [via Outburn]

Following the release of their most brutal, vicious critically acclaimed album, 2023’s Negative Energy, UK alt-metal force VEXED returns with an official video for its most poignant offering, ‘It’s not the end.’ This title is a tribute to a deceased loved one, acknowledging struggles in the grieving process. Megan Targett on ‘It’s not the end’: “How do you carry on living when someone you love dies? The grieving process knows no concept of time, and death becomes the sole point of reference to navigate life. ’It’s not the end’ pays tribute to those we have deeply loved and lost, while also acknowledging the pain and loneliness that accompany those beautiful memories.” [via Outburn]

LUTHARO have released a new music video. The new music video, for the track ‘Chasing Euphoria’, is the title track from the Canadian modern metal band’s brand new album, which was released on Friday. Speaking about the new song, vocalist Krista Shipperbottom says, “what would you do in a world free of judgement for even a few minutes? Would you cry? Would you sing? Would you dance clear of embarrassment? Chasing Euphoria gives you the permission to do all of the above and truly embrace yourself to your core. This song is laced with blissful instrumentals and vocals that will enchant you for days. So please, take a deep breath, stay present and enjoy the journey.” [via Distorted Sound]

Perth-based alternative metal rising star RinRin shares new single ‘Miss Miserable’ as an ode to her younger self. An entrance into a new era, ‘Miss Miserable’ is a pop-punk belter about looking back on a younger self and reflecting on the lows and moving forward. Experiencing a myriad of turmoil in her youth, ‘Miss Miserable’ is dedicated to little RinRin and seeks to lend comfort to the inner child that navigated a time of deep despair and made it out the other side. Taking cues from luminaires BABYMETAL, Poppy and Bring Me The Horizon, RinRin has created her own brand of pop-punk and metal that expounds infectious energy. ‘Miss Miserable’ is another step in a unique direction for RinRin and paves the way towards a larger release later down the line.
IN SΦNDER have unleashed their new single ‘Damage Control’. The cyber metal outfit hailing from Chester, England, made their debut with their first single ‘Quintessence’ at the beginning of this year. ‘Damage Control’ now reveals another side to their sound. Jonny Young says, “We have no intention of slowing down and that is evident in our next single, ‘Damage Control’! The driving drums paired with heavy guitars and roaring synths maintain the consistent pace of the song, while alleviating only enough to showcase the soaring female vocals. Melancholic verses and tense choruses are flanked by heavy riffs, blazing keyboards and harsh vocals high and low. We’re all proud of this one, it’s a real pulse-pounder, from start to finish!”

LA duo KRASHKARMA‘s new album Falling To Pieces is now available from Rockshots Records. For the new full-length, the duo wrote and recorded at Karma Kollective Studios in North Hollywood, California along with Ralf Dietel taking on producing, mixing, and mastering plus artwork duties. They are a self-producing duo that can be considered a jack of all trades when it comes to everything from creating to presenting their music. To celebrate the release of Falling To Pieces, the duo is sharing their latest music video for the track ’15 Minutes of Pain’. “One of my favorite riffs on the album, which showcases how we arrange songs with my guitar/bass instrument. The title is a play on the words of Andy Warhol’s quote “15 Minutes Of Fame,” which means everyone has 15 minutes of success in life. In our case, it’s 15 minutes of excruciating pain. However, the song itself is only 4 minutes long and fantastic!” says Ralf Dietel (Guitar/Bass/Vocals).

BLACKBRIAR announce their new album A Dark Euphony, which will be released on September 29 via Nuclear Blast Records. A Dark Euphony features 11 brand new tracks. Alongside the album, BLACKBRIAR also release a brand new video for the song ‘Cicada‘. Zora Cock comments: “It’s said that cicadas were once humans. When the Muses came into the world, they enchanted some people into singing, they loved singing so much, they forgot to eat and sleep and died. The Muses rewarded them by turning them into cicadas who sing continuously. In this song, I ask my muse to turn me into a cicada after I’m gone.” [via Metal Planet]

UK alt-metal band VEXED has revealed their third new single, the dynamic ‘Trauma Euphoria’, together with an official music vide. On Friday, the fast-rising act dropped their aggressive new offering, Negative Energy – the successor to their disturbingly honest, highly-lauded debut, Culling Culture. Standout track ‘Trauma Euphoria’ features some of the most impressive guitar work on the new album – heavier than ever before. Gifted lead vocalist Megan Targett’s brutal growls and beautiful, crystal clear clean vocals create an impactful contrast, captivating the listener. Megan Targett on ‘Trauma Euphoria’: “Experiencing a traumatic event or grieving a major loss comes with a myriad of feelings. Denial, depression, anger, and sadness are the most common ones you hear about. However, there is one that I’ve found nobody speaks of; Euphoria. Small moments of time where you forget that you’re grieving and slip back into the person you were before the event. It’s like a euphoric experience that’s heightened by the fact your brain hasn’t felt any hit of dopamine in such a long time. However, that sudden realization when you remember the trauma and snap out of the high has you crashing 10X harder. Feelings of guilt and shame take over and you fall deeper into the dark depths of your depression and grief. This dark place becomes a safe space in your mind, as leaving it can cause more pain and isn’t worth the fall. You can become addicted to suffering and this song is a love letter to it.” [via All About the Rock]

The brand-new video for ‘Song for the Girls’ can be seen below. With its upbeat rock sound, the powerful girl-power message is the perfect soundtrack for everyone who believes in the power of women to realize their dreams and make a name for themselves in the world.
Industrial-tinged and true crime-inspired electronic duo SKYND is the dark creative outlet and the alter ego of its lead singer, Skynd, and producer and multi-instrumentalist Father. They are known for taking inspiration from inexplicable and brutal criminal cases and the mystery surrounding unsolved deaths, and transforming them into songs to remind us of the darkness within the human psyche, while taking great care to avoid any glorification. Small clusters of songs have been released as EPs, titled in numbered chapters. SKYND concludes Chapter IV, with the release of the new single ‘Edmund Kemper’ and its accompanying video, directed by Anique Wild. The song features a mysterious, renowned and revered international guitarist as a special guest. Often asked why each particular case, Skynd comments, “There is a detail to this story that stuck with me and sparked my creativity to write about Edmund Kemper. As a young boy Edmund liked to play with Barbie dolls & dolls. He “took“ their heads off and that made a sound like a “pop“, performing funeral rites. While translating true crime cases into music I have a visual idea of the song, and the dolls had to be in the video. It was important to me to show the beheading of the doll because it illustrates his crimes, without being too gratuitous.” Director Anique Wild adds, “I had the great honour to translate Skynd’s new song into a visual world. A hardly believable story of a brutal monster who could not appear more normal in the outside world. The video is meant to convey the values of this song in an artistic, visual way. Find the story behind the story – try to look behind the curtain.” [via Metal Planet]

Legendary metal singer Doro has announced that her new album, the 19-song Conqueress – Forever Strong and Proud, will arrive on October 27 via Nuclear Blast. To record Conqueress – Forever Strong and Proud, the vocalist traveled the globe, banking sessions in studios in Miami, New York, and Hamburg, among other major cities. “The album impressively confirms that Doro is at the height of her creative powers,” a press release enthuses. In addition to the album news, Doro has released ‘Time for Justice,’ the hard-charging debut single off the set, along with an explosive “Mad Max”-style video. The songs starts with a sharp guitar riff that make way for Doro’s powerful, raspy metal vocals to cut through the noise. [via Consequence]

Los Angeles duo KRASHKARMA is unveiling their latest single ‘Survive The Afterlife’ accompanied by a music video in support of their forthcoming album Falling To Pieces due out on June 23 via Rockshots Records. The song is about whether heaven or hell really exists, or if they’re just inventions made by those who can benefit from them. The band explains the track further: “These lyrics are about a fictional character who dies and enters the afterlife, only to be rejected by “heaven” and then sent to a place with all the sinners and whores. However, he was also rejected by this “hell” and returns to the living world. The message is that we are all human and no one is good enough to deserve heaven or bad enough to burn in hell. We all share the same fate and should focus on being the best version of ourselves here on Earth. The song touches on themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the search for meaning after death.”

Following last month’s lead single ‘Anti-Fetish,’ Vexed have now unveiled the next track from their upcoming album Negative Energy. The band’s new one goes by the very emo name ‘X my <3 (Hope to die)’, but given this is Vexed it’s naturally another crushingly heavy rager with a sinister accompanying video. And Vexed reveal that this song in particular was the “catalyst” for Negative Energy as a whole… “After months of writer’s block and feeling like giving up, this song opened the floodgates for inspiration and creativity,” the band say. “Inspired by the victims of religious extremists, cults or abuse of power, this song is about how one person shouldn’t be able to dictate other people’s lives based on their own personal opinions.” [via Karrang!]

After successfully dropping their second album and label debut, Nightfall, in January 2022, followed by extensive touring with Annisokay, Emil Bulls and Cypecore, German metalcore upstarts SETYØURSAILS aren’t slowing down – offering another special treat with their brand-new standalone single ‘Best of Me’, out now. On this intense new offering, the Cologne-based outfit led by vocalist Jules Mitch skillfully balances beautiful melodic and fierce heavy parts, leading to an intense breakdown. ‘Best of Me’ is underlined via an intense official music video, capturing the song’s essence and attitude in the best way. With a new visual surrounding the song, it also represents the next chapter in the band’s history and keeps the anticipation high for everything that is about to come. Jules Mitch on ‘Best of Me’L “With ‘Best of Me’, we herald a new era for SETYØURSAILS. We have once again unconsciously pushed the boundaries of different genres in search of our sound and our soul. We hope that with this single we can get the necks headbanging and the venues shaking. Same as our last album, Nightfall, ‘Best of Me” also tells of my personal struggle with depression and the daily challenges that come with it. I hope that people can identify with this track and I wish everyone who struggles with mental health a lot of strength and power!” [via Rock n Load Mag]

Japan’s Nemophila recently wrapped up a triumphant U.S. tour, having previously made their mark on this side of the Pacific by playing 2022’s Aftershock festival. Now, the Tokyo-based metal rising stars — who count Arch Enemy, Slipknot and Dream Theater among their influences — have commemorated the trek and their return home with a new single, ‘Night Flight,’ a shreddy earworm not far flung from Babymetal’s poppy sound, and the song’s accompanying performance video. “This is a song we’ve been playing live for some time, but have not recorded or released it until now,” Nemophila singer and founder mayu commented of the new single. “Please take a look at the video, as well, as it does a great job capturing the spirit of the song.” [via Revolver]

In 2021, Vexed captured fans with their brutal debut album, Culling Culture, a breakdown-heavy brew of djent, deathcore and progressive metalcore that sounded like a breath of fresh air. It’s been two years, and now the U.K. band are gearing up to release a new album record called Negative Energy, due out later this summer via Napalm Records.

Now, Vexed are previewing the album with a disgustingly heavy lead single called ‘Anti-Fetish.’ Centering the devastating vocal attack of powerhouse frontwoman Megan Targett, the song channels the rap-inflected rampages of old-school Emmure, crossed with the djenty heaviness of bands like After the Burial and early Northlane.

“We wanted to start with a huge riff and a strong message,” the band said of the new single. “‘Anti-Fetish’ is us confronting the constant comparisons and ungrounded hate that bands receive. It’s become completely accepted in the scene to cross the line of constructive criticism and just dive bomb into hatred and prejudice. This song is us setting the record straight by calling out the blatant discrimination.” [via Revolver]
