London-based artist and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB returns with ‘Crying in the Car’, a warm and reflective indie pop offering that explores loneliness, belonging and change without ever losing its uplifting spirit. While its themes carry emotional weight, the song feels remarkably light on its feet, pairing introspection with an effortless sense of optimism.

Hints of ’90s hip-hop can be heard in the laid-back drum groove and production, but ‘Crying in the Car’ is rooted firmly in indie pop, with acoustic guitar and an easy-going melody at its heart. YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB’s soulful vocal brings a timeless quality to the track, making the comparisons to Tracy Chapman feel particularly fitting while still allowing her own identity to shine through.

Rather than dwelling in sadness, ‘Crying in the Car’ finds comfort in reflection. Its nostalgic atmosphere lingers long after the final note, making it feel like the soundtrack to wandering familiar streets and quietly appreciating how far you’ve come. Thoughtful, understated and quietly affecting, it’s another compelling release from an artist continuing to carve out her own distinctive sound.

London-based French-Cameroonian artist and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB returns with ‘NEVERWANNAGOHOME,’ her third single of the year. Co-produced alongside longtime collaborator Song Higginson, the track sees her embrace a brighter, more upbeat sound inspired by friendship, belonging and the nights that feel too good to end.

Driven by energetic guitars and an infectious indie-dance pulse, ‘NEVERWANNAGOHOME’ captures the exhilarating chaos of a great night out. The fast-paced vocal delivery mirrors the song’s restless momentum, creating a blur of sound that feels perfectly suited to its celebration of London’s nightlife. There’s a nostalgic quality to the track too, recalling those carefree nights spent with friends when the only thing that mattered was staying in the moment for as long as possible.

Speaking about the single, YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB says: “Lyrically, I wanted the song to encapsulate the feeling when you’re out with your friends and it feels like you’re right where you’re meant to be, and thus don’t want the night to end. This song is an ode to my friends, London and its nightlife.”

London-based French-Cameroonian artist and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB returns with her new single ‘Forever Young’, a personal and reflective release that marks an important moment in her career.

The track comes after a challenging period for her. Over the past few months, she experienced creative and personal lows, stepping back from releasing her own music to focus on collaborating with other artists behind the scenes. That time away allowed her to reset and gradually rebuild her sense of direction.

‘Forever Young’ captures that journey, a statement of perseverance and the process of taking things one day at a time. Sonically, it pairs understated production with an intimate vocal, reinforcing the honesty at the centre of the track.

London-based French-Cameroonian artist and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB returns with her first release of the year, ‘Buying Time’, a reflective indie rock anthem co-written with acclaimed producer and songwriter Ben Matravers (hard life, Abbie Ozard).

Written in late 2023 during what would become one of her favourite studio sessions, the track marks a creative turning point for the artist. “Ben reached out to work and I really liked what I heard from him, even though I’d never worked with another producer before,” she says. “I was anxious going into it, but it ended up being one of my favorite sessions—just bouncing ideas back and forth, letting go of control, and making something honest.”

Driven by shimmering guitars, steady grooves, and a vocal performance that’s both vulnerable and assured, ‘Buying Time’ captures a moment of growth—one that still mirrors YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB’s mindset today.

“Even though it was written almost two years ago, it still speaks to where I’m at now. It’s about owning up to your actions, and letting go—just like I did in that room with Ben.”

London-based French-Cameroonian singer, songwriter, and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB is back with a stunning new release, ‘Lose Our Minds’. This track, brimming with sun-soaked indie pop vibes, sees her teaming up with friend and frequent collaborator tmdistant. Adding to the magic, the song features co-production from the talented Song Higginson.

‘Lose Our Minds’ dives deep into the complexities of digital connections in our fast-paced era, weaving together catchy melodies and reflective lyrics. YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB’s smooth and soulful vocals harmonise beautifully with tmdistant’s dynamic style, creating a unique listening experience.

“We’re in the digital age, the world moves faster than it ever has and we’re all constantly connected to each other and yet relationships, romantic, amicable or of any kind really, feel so hard to maintain,” says the artist. “Things move too fast, get blown out of proportion, there’s miscommunication. I guess I just wanted to talk about my experience on this song, and tell the people in my life that taking it slow and letting things happen naturally can be great too. My good friend tm felt the same, so he hopped on the song with me. The main elements of the song were laid out in a couple hours in his garden shed.”

London-based French-Cameroonian singer, songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB delivers a compelling journey of self-exploration and acceptance in her latest single, ‘Self-Care 101’. ‘Self-Care 101’ is the third single taken from her forthcoming EP, We’re all going to die anyway, which is set to release on June 6.

With a sound that blends indie pop and rock, she draws inspiration from acts like The Beaches, Rachel Chinouriri and Paramore to create a captivating soundscape. Through heartfelt lyrics and emotive melodies, she explores themes of self-discovery and acceptance, inviting listeners to reflect on their own experiences. Overall, ‘Self-Care 101’ is a powerful anthem of personal triumph and growth.

She says of the track: “This song is pretty much a wake up call to myself. I spent way too many years picking on every single little thing about me, worrying about what I didn’t like about myself, and feeling so hopeless about it all instead of living and enjoying my time here. At some point last year, after an eye-opening talk with my mom who’s mentioned in the song, I literally realised I couldn’t go on like this any longer. So I did some work. It’s still a work in progress, but I’m hopeful. This song is my testimony.”

It’s the second single taken from her forthcoming 9-track EP We’re all gonna die anyway, set to be released this June.

“This is the first song I wrote for the EP,” she says. “I hadn’t made anything in a while and was struggling to but somehow ended up playing the chord progression my guitar and coming up with the chorus pretty easily. It was summer, I was feeling good and the song pretty much reflects that. It was just me making music without thinking too much, not letting anyone ‘mess with my head’ and just having fun.”

As we approach the festive season, a time for reflection and family gatherings, London-based French-Cameroonian indie artist YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB takes us on an intimate journey. In her latest single, ‘In Our Veins’, she delves into the emotional depths to honour the strength and determination of her mother.

The track, enriched with a blend of folk, indie, and pop influences, gently envelops listeners in its melodic embrace, creating an atmosphere of tender vulnerability. Through eloquent lyricism, YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB spins a narrative that artfully chronicles her mother’s ability to withstand challenges and rebound resiliently from life’s hardships.

She says, “My family situation is a bit complicated, and it’s something I always write about. But with such a touchy subject it’s never easy picking the right words and tone. This song isn’t the full picture, but it’s a good start. With this one I really wanted to pay tribute to my mom, the hardships she goes through and how she always makes it to the other side. She’s my biggest inspiration and my favourite human on Earth, and I wanted the song to reflect her strength and determination, both lyrically and sonically.”

French-Cameroonian, London-based singer, songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB has gained great momentum since she released her debut EP I Thought I Knew You, Boy Was I Wrong back in March, and in recent months her singles ‘Did It My Way’ a stunning collaboration with tmdistant, and the indie rock-meets-pop punk banger ‘SNAKES’. While she quietly works on her second EP which is due out in Spring 2024, she’s releasing 3 standalone singles (‘Another Victim’ being the first) to show her appreciation to all her supporters.

“I always knew I wanted to be an artist/creative, but out of necessity and I guess pride I took a couple corporate jobs, which I absolutely hated,” says the artist. “I tried really hard to fit in but I just don’t fit in this whole work culture. I could never live to work, I didn’t see the point of ‘going the extra mile’ just to barely stay afloat every month financially. The song is a bit of a protest against this culture as well as the system we evolve in, where everything is about productivity and profit.”

French-Cameroonian, London-based singer, songwriter and producer YAOUNDÉBOXINGCLUB has gained great momentum since she released her debut EP I Thought I Knew You, Boy Was I Wrong back in March. Although she’s known for combining indie, alternative and bedroom pop with sprinkles of folk, her latest offering ‘SNAKES’ is an indie punk track with elements of grunge that will win the hearts of early 00’s emo/pop punk fans.

Lyrically, she sings about being surrounded by the wrong people and trying to navigate life despite this. Her melodic verses build a lot of tension before an anthemic chorus with huge riffs and relentless energy.

“I wrote the song in about an hour, hence why it’s quite simplistic lyrically,” she explains. “It pretty much speaks for itself, and it’s something I needed to get off my chest. Sonically, it’s quite different from what I’ve done so far, but it’s pretty much inspired by all the music that I grew up listening to: Sum 41, Blink-182, Fall Out Boy then State Champs, The Story So Far and ROAM.”
