The 18-year-old London-based singer-songwriter continues to redefine pop by stripping it back to its emotional core. She announces Baby Teeth, an unflinchingly intimate new EP out  September 10 via 23 Recordings, alongside the release of its powerful title track.

Produced by Luis Navidad and co-written with Morgan Harper-Jones, Baby Teeth was born from a year of upheaval and emotional turbulence. Yuneki reflects: “I wrote ‘Baby Teeth’ during a time when I felt like I was being forced to grow up too fast, especially in a relationship that was supposed to feel safe. It’s about feeling unheard, controlled, and blamed for things that weren’t my responsibility. The realisation that the people who were meant to protect you didn’t always know how. This song holds a lot of that confusion, frustration, and pain.”

Following the introspective ‘Sleepwalking’ and the sweet ‘Like Honey,’ ‘Over Again’ carries a certain casual intimacy. Yuneki’s voice, crafted to narrate poignant stories, weaves through delicate piano lines and an uplifting chorus. Her debut is positioning her as a fresh, relatable Gen-Z voice, aiming to offer solace and connection to anyone navigating tough times.

Only the second single from the emerging artist, following her recent release ‘Like Honey’, Yuneki’s introduction has earmarked her as a relevant and relatable Gen-Z voice. With immediacy and openness woven throughout her lyrics, she crafts music with the hope that her songs will serve as a refuge for anyone going through difficult times.

Speaking about today’s single release, Yuneki says “’Sleepwalking’ is about my struggles with mental health, how I was harming myself and the people who loved me the most, and how I wasn’t really present or in reality. It felt like I was sleepwalking through life, and if someone tried to get close to me during that time, they wouldn’t know what they were getting themselves into.”

Speaking about the meaning behind the song, Yuneki explains, “’Like Honey’ is about the idea of right person, wrong time. Me and a boy who I’d recently got back in contact with when we wrote it would somehow always go back to each other and it would never work out. I’d always be left thinking about him, hoping I’d see him again or bump into him and romanticising the time we did have together. The last time this happened it felt like I wasn’t ready and I needed to learn to love myself first.”

Whether Yuneki is singing about teenage situationships, cyclical behaviour patterns or her personal struggles with mental health, she’ll be the first to tell you that you can either have the real her, or not at all. You only have ‘Like Honey’ to know that she isn’t one to mince her words. “Last year was fuckin’ rough / But you know that,” she deadpans in reflective moment that sounds like a candid voicenote from a friend.
