Today, LA-based artist Dafna returns with her new single ‘BADPEOPLEBADTHINGS.’ Originally from Boulder, Colorado, she brings together her skills as a singer-songwriter, producer, and software engineer in this bold new release. Blending electro-pop and alt-pop influences with a sharp digital edge, the track is a reflection of Dafna’s multifaceted identity – melding her musical creativity with her tech-driven background. The result is a bold, genre-blurring sound that’s helping her carve out a distinct space in the scene as an exciting new voice. Lyrically, the track confronts the dark side of human behavior, taking aim at those who harm others with cruel intent.
“‘BADPEOPLEBADTHINGS’ was written after I got scammed by a man pretending to be a magazine editor in my DMs,” says Dafna. “Instead of wallowing, I turned my disappointment into a song about the reality that we don’t like to admit: that bad guys rarely get hit by consequences and instead find themselves in positions of wealth or power. I produced the track alone on my laptop. It’s the first single from my upcoming EP, which releases this fall. The song drops May 9th alongside a music video where I play a version of myself trapped inside a computer, doing everything I can to stop two hackers from breaking into a safe. The visual world of the EP blends 80s tech nostalgia with surreal, digital aquatic imagery – what I’ve been calling 80s digital space mermaid. I built an immersive website to go along with the EP, combining my background in software engineering with the sonic world I’m creating.”
