Rising Australian pop artist Kirrilee unveils her most emotional single yet, ‘The View,’ a hauntingly beautiful track that captures the pain of watching someone you love endure heartbreak — and the helplessness that comes with it.
Written while house-sitting in regional Victoria, ‘The View’ was born from a moment of deep empathy and frustration. Kirrilee recalls, “I wrote this song whilst watching my best friend go through a really awful relationship with someone who treated them like garbage, didn’t appreciate them, and hurt them continuously. All I could do was be there for her whilst she went through this awful thing. After a particularly terrible interaction, she called me, but I was three hours away, and all I wanted to do was give her a hug and tell her it would be okay. So instead, after getting off the phone, I sat down and wrote this song for her.”
With Kirrilee’s signature, heart-on-the-sleeve lyricism, ‘The View’ offers a vulnerable yet empowering perspective; reminding listeners of the power of friendship, empathy, and the quiet kind of love that stands strong in the background.
