South East London singer, songwriter and artist OURAA returns with her eagerly anticipated new single ‘3am’.
Growing up in London surrounded by culture, love, and community, these influences shaped a sound best described as a melting pot of the music that scored her life. Her new single ‘3am’ is a reflective, intimate song about grief, emotional processing and feeling out of sync with your emotions — especially amongst neurodivergent people.
Speaking of the track, OURAA says, “I wrote ‘3am’ with my best friend and collaborator Jabez during a really normal songwriting day. He said he had this chorus idea he wanted to try, and when he sang it to me for the first time, I just burst into tears. Instantly, it took me to my grandma. This was years after she’d passed, and I’d spent a long time quietly beating myself up for not feeling like I’d processed her death in the “correct” or “normal” way… Whatever that even means. That moment reminded me there is no correct way to grieve.
“Everyone carries loss differently, and everyone moves through it in their own time. I hope this song reminds people to be gentle with themselves through that process. You are safe, loved and seen.”
