Written during a time of profound personal transformation, ‘I will love you till I die’ channels the tension between grief and joy into a beautiful, grandiose pop song-introducing a new alternative Nordic talent.
“I had just lost one of the most important people in my life when I suddenly fell in love,”sophie-lou shares. “Joy and a deep-rooted fear of loss became a state of being. Writing this song was both simple and necessary –a fearless declaration of love to my new partner, my friends, and my family. Words we should all say more often –before it’s too late.”
The Copenhagen-based artist draws from a wide-ranging musical background. A lifelong explorer of contrasts, sophie-lou grew up surrounded by jazz and spent 14 years performing with the renowned Danish National Girls’ Choir (DR Pigekoret). She has also composed classical choral works, while carving out her own sonic world through ambient and electronic music.
On ‘I will love you till I die’, these influences collide in a bold, organic, and rock-infused production featuring 73 layered choral voices and a crushing wall of distorted guitars. Several elements were recorded using a binaural microphone to replicate the way the human ear hears –lending the track a surreal, transcendent atmosphere that blurs the boundary between heaven and earth.
