Still Blank share new single ‘Cut Slack’

Rising duo Still Blank return with their new single ‘Cut Slack,’ out now via National Anthem / Capitol Records. Anchored by a propulsive, chugging guitar line, the track showcases the pair’s gift for drawing deep emotion from subtlety, unfolding like a quiet revelation. Part pep talk, part gentle shoulder squeeze, it weaves understated folk textures with Still Blank’s instinct for delicate melodic turns.

Jordy’s airy vocals glide over Ben’s intricate arrangements, blurring the line between private confession and shared mantra as they explain: “‘Cut Slack’ was born from the people-pleasing, empathetic nature of both Ben and I, says Jordy. “It’s a reminder to take some of the load off instead of carrying around unnecessary pressures on our backs—something the both of us are all too familiar with.”

As with their previous work, ‘Cut Slack’ reflects Still Blank’s contrasting roots. Jordy’s upbringing on the Hawaiian island of Kaua’i infuses the song with an easy, unhurried rhythm, while Ben’s Manchester heritage brings an undercurrent of melancholy and grit. This interplay continues to shape their evolving sound, one that draws from shoegaze haze, grunge bite, and folk storytelling without ever fully settling into any one lane.
