TABI makes a stand with new single ‘Leaving’

‘You only love me when I’m leaving’ TABI sings, a profound and all too relatable lyric embedded in the catchy chorus of ‘Leaving’. The production is silky, smooth and classy with an old school feel reminiscent of the 60s. The electric guitar blends beautifully with TABI’s melodic vocals creating an edgy, sparkly indie-pop sound.

The added keys and drumbeats effortlessly bring this stunning indie pop song to life even more. The track builds to the bridge – creating a beautiful sound with sweeping harmonies and layered vocals.

‘Leaving’ is an empowering track that doesn’t mess around, and it showcases TABI’s talent as an artist. Inspired by the likes of Duffy, Fiona Apple and Amy Winehouse – TABI has developed a sound that is very unique but at the same time familiar, the best of both worlds.

Not feeling appreciated and knowing you deserve more but at the same time not wanting to let go. These are some of the themes that TABI touches on beautifully in ‘Leaving’, encouraging an open conversation with her audience. Fresh off the back of her success with ‘Write a Song About’ and debut single ‘Love Like Drugs’, ‘Leaving’ has come at the perfect time, adding to the hype and buzz around TABI. Gorillaz guitarist Jeff Wooten wrote: ‘So good, she can go all the way’ after hearing TABI’s music. TABI intends to go all the way, and is aware of the importance of using her voice and platform to make the world a better place.

Speaking on the single, TABI said: “‘Leaving’ is a song inspired by personal experience that challenges the all-too-common cycle of love only being realised once it’s lost. The song captures the moment of reclaiming control when the other person finally decides they want you back – too little, too late. It’s a message to everyone: stop taking love for granted. Appreciate the people you care about while they’re still here, because you can’t expect them to wait around for you to finally show up. Why can you only love something/someone when it’s taken away? Leaving is a call to action for anyone stuck in a one-sided relationship, reminding them that they deserve someone who shows their love every single day, not just when it’s convenient. It’s a promise that a better, more fulfilling love exists: one where you are seen and valued the way you deserve.”
