Tess & The Details release new heartbreak anthem and Wes Anderson-inspired music video ‘Standing On the Edge’

The new Tess & The Details track ‘Standing on the Edge’ is big, polished, and has a punk-infused rock sound reminiscent of Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Sugarcult, and the usual suspects, but the song’s lyrics and vocals spin it into a heartbreaking anthem. Its words are relatable to anyone who has ever struggled with relationships.

Its music video is an homage to Wes Anderson’s concept of “sad characters in pastel places,” shot at local Oakland businesses frequented by the band and local punks of all generations including; 1234 Go! Records, the legendary 924 Gilman Street, Aburaya, and the band’s favorite tiki bar, Kona Club. You can even spot some of their owners in comedic cameos.

“When it came to choosing locations for the shoot, we immediately gravitated toward our favorite spots, places where we grab food and drinks, buy records, get our guitars fixed, catch shows, and unwind,” said drummer and Details co-founder Gideon Berger. “Partnering with local businesses in our community was important to us, and everyone we worked with was incredibly accommodating and easy to collaborate with.”
